Stewardship Prayer March 2019 Lord Jesus, We journey with You this Lenten season, through prayer, fasting and almsgiving, ever closer to Jerusalem and Your death on the cross. We hear Your words: “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me,” but we are unsure of their meaning or their true intent. Through the power of Your Spirit, give us the strength to deny the “self” that keeps us from being good stewards of those who need our love and compassion. Give us a deeper awareness of the cross in our own lives so that we may embrace it and join our sufferings with Yours. We humbly ask this in Christ’s name. Stewardship Prayer

March 2019

Lord Jesus,

We journey with You this Lenten season,

through prayer, fasting and almsgiving, ever

closer to Jerusalem and Your death on the cross.

We hear Your words: “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow

me,” but we are unsure of their meaning or

their true intent.

Through the power of Your Spirit, give us the

strength to deny the “self” that keeps us

from being good stewards of those who need our love and compassion.

Give us a deeper awareness of the cross

in our own lives so that we may embrace

it and join our sufferings with Yours.

We humbly ask this in

Christ’s name.

Amen

Make Your Lenten Season More Meaningful

The season of Lent offers us forty days to review our lives and focus

on conversion and spiritual transformation. It is a spiritual “spring train-

ing”...a time when we go back to the basics of our faith

formation through prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to

improve and enhance our spiritual lives and prepare

ourselves to more fully participate in the paschal mystery of

Holy Week with a generous heart and a renewed commit-

ment to Christ. Consider some of the following ideas for

your Lenten journey:

Make time in your daily schedule for private prayer, even if it’s ten

minutes. Remember, improving your spiritual life starts with prayer.

Reduce your daily intake of soda or alcohol as a spiritual discipline.

Drink water and pray for those who lack a safe source of clean water. Give up on negative thinking. Work on a patient, positive attitude

toward others. Catch yourself when you mentally berate someone. Pray with the church or take part in a devotion that inspires you. At-

tend daily Mass, Wednesday Night Formation or Stations of the Cross. Not yet involved in ministry? Pick up a ministry directory at the kiosk

desk and see which ministry moves you in sharing your God-given gifts.

“To Serve with the Heart of Jesus

means Love-Joy-Happiness.

Jesus taught us to love and serve

God by loving and serving others.

We are called to this same mis-

sion. Our journey on earth is

simple...to love and serve God

until He calls us home. When

He calls and we have devoted our

lives to loving and serving Him,

by loving and serving our neigh-

bor; then He can welcome us to

o u r h e a v e n l y h o m e . ”

Ray and Willene Johnson

“We both grew up at Sacred Heart.

We met and formed a friendship dur-

ing our time spent with CYM and Anti-

och. God blessed us with a faith filled

journey to our marriage and we are

thrilled to be able to give back a small

portion of what our parish has given

us. Chris is a member of Parish Coun-

cil and Finance Council. Christy sings

at Mass and for Celebrate Recovery.

We are blessed to serve at Sacred

Heart and raise our boys in the very

place where God shaped our family.”

Chris and Christy Pinto

“To me Serving with the Heart of Christ means to love what

you do, not only for others to see...God is my priority. I

have been the grounds keeper at Sacred Heart for many

years. I share my time and talents at Sacred Heart because I

love what I do, I enjoy my work, and I like to see the

grounds of our parish looking beautiful because it’s the

church of God.” Samuel Martinez

Black Catholic Ministry Celebrates Black History Month

“You will know us by our love” was the theme for this year’s celebration in honoring the history of this awesome ministry. Fr. Giles Conwill from Atlanta was the guest speaker and Mass was followed up by a wonderful reception for all. We are blessed to have such an amazing and active Black Catholic Ministry here at Sacred Heart. Thank you for all you do!!!!
