The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. This year’s theme is Conflict and Compromise in History. The intentional se- lection of the theme for NHD is to provide an opportunity for students to push past the antiquated view of history as mere facts and dates and drill down into historical content to develop perspective and understanding.” (from www.nhd.org) Our 7th & 8th grade students participated, choosing topics of in- terest that fit this year’s theme and presenting either as a group or individually. SMCS Spelling Bee

The Wings of Fury Robotics A-Team competed in their qualifier round at the First Lego League, Alamo West Official Qualifying Tournament at Central Catholic High School on Saturday and did an excellent job! They won the 2nd Champion Award (2nd Place) trophy which allows them to advance to the March 3rd regional competition. The A-Team members are Danny Garza and Elle Reede as captains with Maya Crane, Luke Hospen-thal, Daniel Peña, and Aidan Olguin.
