A farewell coming soon…  Bishop Kevin Vann has called Rev. Bill Cao

to serve as Parish Administrator at St. Anthony Claret Church in Anaheim,

beginning on July 1, 2014. 

We are all grateful to Fr. Bill for the joyful service he has given to St. Justin Martyr Church over these last two years. We will miss his inspiring Masses and homilies, his prayerful pres-ence, and his friendly disposition. His enthusiasm for the peo-ple, the groups, the culture, and the spirit of St. Justin is conta-gious and uplifting. We pray that through this transition to his new assignment he will know how much he is loved and that the Lord will continue to bless him as he begins his new endeavor.

Father’s Day Novena

A special way to remember your father or another special man, living or deceased, is to enroll them in the St. Justin Martyr Father’s Day Novena of Masses. Beginning on Father’s Day, June 15, and continuing for nine days, the names submitted will be remembered at one Mass each of the nine days. Cards and envelopes for fathers are available at the church exits and the parish office If you choose to make a donation for the Novena, please put the enve-lope in the Sunday collection basket or give it directly to the parish office. Please do not leave the envelopes in the church.

at St. Justin Martyr Parish. Fr. Paul is currently at St. Pius V Church in Buena Park, and previously served for many years as a Missionary Priest in Central America. Fr. Paul will be saying Masses in English and Spanish, and will be arriving July 1st.

Life in the Trinity The name of the Trinity is, without a doubt, the most

familiar sacred name to us. We speak it every time we make the sign of the cross, and it forms the heart of our Creed. Trinity Sunday is a good day, however, to stop and reflect on the unique role of each of the three persons we name so often in the Trinity and in our own lives. When we celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, we come together as the Body of Christ through our baptism, and through the power of the Holy Spirit we offer the whole prayer of the Mass to God the Father. This presence of the Trinity does not stop when we leave church on Sunday. We are--always and everywhere--members of the Body, and every thing we do as members of that Body is empowered by the Holy Spirit, all of it offered to the glory of our loving Father.

Collection on June 28-29 for the Universal Church Our Universal Church Collection will be taken up at all

Masses the weekend of June 28-29. This special collection combines the Catholic Relief Services Collection and the Peter’s Pence Collection.

The mission of Catholic Relief Services is to assist the poor and disadvantaged by alleviating human suffering, pro-moting development of all people, and fostering charity and justice internationally. CRS aids the poor by first providing direct assistance where needed, and then encouraging these people to help with their own development.

Peter’s Pence Collection gives us an opportunity to be a witness of charity to our brothers and sisters around the world. It supports the works of our Holy Father, enabling him to respond with emergency financial assistance to vic-tims of war, natural disasters, and others in need.

I want to thank you on behalf of the clients of the Life Centers of Orange County for your parish’s participation in our recent Mother’s Day Rose Event. Your St. Justin Martyr parishioners contributed $937 to help continue the life saving services of the Life Center. The Centers have been in continuous service since January of 1975 for women and their families facing difficult cir-cumstances as they choose Life for their infants. Summer Bible School for Grades 1-6 St. Justin Martyr SRE program will have a one week

Summer Bible School from June 23-27 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for children in grades 1-6. This will be a time to get familiar with some of the stories in the Bible, to sing, make crafts, pray and play. There is a $15.00 regis-tration fee to cover the craft materials, snacks, and school supplies. Please register a.s.a.p. Registration forms are available in the SRE Office and the Parish Office. SRE Registration, Grades K-8 The School of Religious Education is having registration for

classes beginning in September 2014 for all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Students must re-register for the 2014-15 year. Forms are available in the Religious Education Office. After June 30th registration is on a space available basis only.

The registration fee is applicable each year. Registration fees are: $80.00 for 1 student, $125.00 for 2 students, and $150.00 for 3 or more students. No one is turned away who is unable to pay, however if this is the situation please contact the Director of Reli-gious Education.

Confirmation Year 1 (and high school First Communion) Orientation

All students entering the 9th -11th grade in September 2014 who have been baptized and have or need to receive their First Commun-ion are eligible to begin a 2 year preparation process for Confirma-tion/1st Holy Communion. Orientation meetings are being offered for those students and their parents on the following dates and times.

At these meetings you will receive information about the St. Justin Confirmation preparation process. Attendance to a meeting does not imply a decision to participate in the process; rather it is an opportunity for eligible students to get information needed to help make that decision. Registration forms will be available for classes beginning in the fall of 2014. It is necessary for both the student and parent to attend one of these meetings. Attending one of these meetings is a requirement for anyone interested in the preparation for Confirmation. REFLEXIONES SOBRE LA PALABRA Tres personas, un solo Dios

Éxodo 34:4b-6, 8-9 Yahvé baja envuelto en la nube. Moisés invoca al Señor que pasa cerca de él. Se escucha la proclamación del nombre y los atributos del Señor. El nombre proclamado dice la actitud de Yahvé respecto al ser humano. El contraste con quien afirmaba que no acompa-ñaría al pueblo para que no ocurriera la desgracia de tener que aniquilar-lo por su pecado no puede ser mayor. El Dios que se muestra aquí es compasivo y misericordioso, que no podría dejar el pecado impune, pero cuya benevolencia y ternura son mucho mayores que su castigo. Juan 3:6-18 El verbo “amo” indica un acto puntual y definitivo que expresa la totalidad de Dios. Dios es amor. Y el amor no vive solo, sino que se derrama en un objeto, que en este caso es la humanidad. La finali-dad del envío es que la humanidad tenga vida por la fe en Cristo. Creer en Cristo es aceptarlo como Hijo de Dios y como Salvador. Nuestra cultura La alegría, que se traduce en fiesta, es un rasgo distin-tivo de la comunidad hispana. Aunque a menudo inmersa en sufrimien-tos y dificultades, la celebración de la vida y la esperanza nunca se detie-ne.

Encuentra tu refugio en el corazón de Jesús En 1899 el Papa León XIII consagro el mundo al Sagrado

Corazón de Jesús. Desde entonces, sus sucesores han exhortado a los fieles a acudir al Sagrado Corazón y consagrarse a él per-sonalmente.

El Papa Pio XII dijo: “Jesús nos ha amado a todos con un corazón humano. Por esta razón, el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, traspasado por nuestros pecados y para nuestra salvación, es considerado justamente como el mejor signo y símbolo de ese amor”.

El amor de Cristo es infinito y distinto al de los humanos, que prometen amor para luego decirte que se les acabo el amor y que todo ha terminado. El nunca te da la espalda o “rompe contigo”, no importa lo que hagas. Tal amor no disminuye ni se escapa frente a los problemas; al contrario, se renueva y crea lazos de amor mas fuertes cada vez que regresa a Dios a pesar de tus muchos fallos. Dios siempre ofrece amor y perdón.

Jesús dio a sus discípulos un nuevo mandamiento: amar-nos unos a otros como El nos ha amado. “Podemos fácilmente entender que la devoción al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, por su propia naturaleza, es un culto al amor con el que Dios, a través de Jesús, nos ha amado, y al mismo tiempo un ejercicio de nuestro propio amor por el que estamos relacionados con Dios y con los demás”, dijo el Papa Pio XII.

quial en la Iglesia de San Antonio de Claret en Ana-heim, comenzando el 1 de Julio de 2014.

Estamos muy agradecidos al P. Bill (P. Memo) por el servicio alegre que a brindado a la Iglesia de San Justino Mártir en estos dos años. Extrañaremos sus Misas y homilías inspirantes, su presencia contemplativa, y su disposición amigable. Su entusiasmo por la gente, los grupos, la cultura, y el espíritu de San Justino es conta-giosa y animadora. Pedimos que en su transición a su nueva asigna-ción sepa cuanto es querido y que el Señor continúe bendi-ciéndolo en el comienzo de un nuevo embarque. Parroquia de San Justino Mártir y Misión del Sagrado Corazón 15 de Junio, 2014 Reflexiones para la homilía

Recientemente escuche la historia de una mujer de Guatemala que intento pasar la frontera cuatro veces: en la primera el coyote se quedo con todo su dinero y al fin no la ayudo. La segunda vez in-tentaron violarla. La tercera vez fue deportada. Y por fin, a la cuar-ta, logro cruzar. Tenía una fuerte determinación porque, en su país, ella y su esposo no podían alimentar a sus hijos. Cuando le pregun-taron qué le diría a Dios en medio de todo ese sufrimiento y angus-tias, respondió simplemente que le daba gracias siempre por “lo bueno que había sido con ella”.

¿Qué nos produce alegría, agradecimiento y paz? La primera respuesta más común entre nosotros, los hispanos, es “la unión familiar”. Cuando la familia está unida, hay alegría y. celebración. Buscamos esta celebración incluso en medio de los momentos más difíciles que experimentamos, de falta de empleo, problemas migra-torios, violencia en nuestras calles… El convencimiento de que la vida puede mas, que está profundamente arraigado en nuestra cultu-ra, obliga a celebrar y a seguir viviendo con alegría.

Será bueno que busquemos las claves de esa alegría en las lecturas de hoy. Hoy celebramos la fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad; aunque en muchas ocasiones nos haya podido parecer que el miste-rio de la Trinidad es demasiado profundo como para entenderlo, (tres personas distintas, un solo Dios verdadero), una imagen que puede ayudar a penetrar tal misterio, es precisamente, la de la fami-lia. Un Dios que es relación, comunicación y, por tanto, familia.

Por eso, en la primera lectura de hoy, Dios se hace presente y anuncia su compasión y misericordia. Esa compasión y misericordia que experimentamos constantemente en nuestra vida. La presencia de Dios, su acompañamiento incluso cuando todo parece tan oscuro, nos da la seguridad de que la familia puede estar unida. Y nos da también la primera pista de vida familiar mas autentica, profunda y de más paz: cuando extendemos compasión y misericordia a las personas de nuestra familia, estamos haciendo presente a Dios en medio de nosotros. Y eso es fuente de vida y de alegría.

Es lo mismo que nos recuerda Pablo en la segunda lectura. Asegura que los frutos del Espíritu en la comunidad, es decir, esa vida de misericordia, compasión y ternura, son la alegría y la paz. La comunidad, como la familia, debe tender a la unidad frente a tantas cosas en nuestro mundo que tienden a hacernos entrar en conflicto y a dividirnos. En la unión se hará presente el Dios del amor y de la paz.

Es, por tanto, el amor de Dios presente en medio de nosotros, lo que tiene la fuerza de dar vida. Sabemos que Dios está con noso-tros, que nos invita a su amor y a su salvación porque nos envió a su único Hijo, como nos dice el Evangelio de hoy, tomado de san Juan. Dios amo al mundo, se nos recuerda. Dios amo al mundo, porque Dios es amor y el amor siempre es relación y comunicación.

Lo que dará vida, alegría, paz y unión a nuestras familias será, por tanto, vivir en ese amor que se nos da con tanta abundancia, que tan bueno ha sido con nosotros, como decía la mujer guatemalteca, ¿Cómo vivimos en ese amor? Siendo reflejo de él en todas nuestras relaciones; recordando y experimentando, en oración, lo que ha hecho por nosotros y como se nos ha manifestado ese amor inmen-so, y practicando la misericordia y la compasión con quienes están cerca de nosotros. Eso puede querer decir escuchar, atender, a veces sacrificar tiempo y esfuerzos, acompañar, y celebrar todo lo bueno que hay entre nosotros. Las fiestas que celebramos como familia reflejan esa presencia y unión intima del Dios que es uno y trino. Y nos dan vida, esperanza y energía para seguir adelante.

Para la reflexión ¿Cómo son nuestras relaciones familiares? ¿En qué momentos

he tenido que mostrar compasión hacia un miembro de la familia que estaba pasando por dificultades o problemas internos? ¿Qué exigió eso de mí en términos de sacrificio, tiempo, esfuerzo, escu-cha?

bre de 2014 y que han sido bautizados y han recibido o necesitan su Primera Comunión son elegibles para comenzar un proceso de preparación de 2 años para la Confirmación/Primera Comunión. Habrá una serie de reuniones para los estudiantes y sus padres en las siguientes fechas y horarios programados.

Durante esta tarde, usted recibirá más información sobre nues-tro proceso de preparación para la Confirmación de San Justino. La asistencia a una reunión no implica una decisión de participar en el proceso de confirmación, sino que es una oportunidad para los estudiantes elegibles para obtener la información necesaria para ayudarle a tomar esa decisión. Los formularios de inscripción estarán disponibles para aquellos que deciden comenzar a prepa-rarse para la Confirmación en el otoño de 2014. Es necesario que el estudiante y los padres asistan a una de estas reuniones. Asistir a una de estas reuniones es un requisito para todos los interesados en la preparación para la Confirmación.
