TRANSCRIPT
Hi Everyone,
It feels like winter has finally left and summer is approaching. I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather.
May is the month for election. President, Vice President, Secretary and three Board of Directors positions are up for election/reelection. Nominations were made during the April general meeting. You all have another chance to nominate your favorite candidate in May. After the nominations are closed during the May general meeting elections will take place. I will take this time to thank all those who are running and the best of luck to all of you. I will not be running for any position this next year as I had originally thought.
Just as a reminder the 18th of May is the association’s Annual Bar-B-Q. Hope to see you all there. ON THE 17TH (SATURDAY), IS THE ANNUAL BBQ’S CLEAN UP DAY!!! I would like to see a lot of members there to help with the clean up. The more we have the faster the job gets done.
I’ll be seeing you at the next general meeting for elections and the weekend of the 17th and 18th for the BBQ.
Sincerely,
Leonard

Association’s need and helped with phase 2 of the camping area. All the names should be in the newsletter including the family and friends of Jeremy Evans, the scout earning his Eagle Project.Special thanks to Jay Laumer for volunteering to drive the rental tractor. Jay created the center road through the campground and spread all those piles of wood chips. Also special thanks to Dave Brown of North County Arborists. Dave brought a crew up as well as his chipper and mulched all the branches. He also cut up and mulched a large Oak Tree that has fallen in the 100 yard stream bed. He didn’t charge the association for this and I think that he went far beyond expectations. Thank you, Dave.Phase 3 of the camping area is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd. We need people who can rake wood chips, weed whack the grass, and help in installing the charcoal BBQ’S and picnic tables. Nicholas Haye is the Scout in charge of completing phase 3.The month of May will be a busy. We need help the day before the BBQ at our annual work party day. This is a chance for everyone to pitch in and help the Association. You would be surprised at how much fun you will have. Thanks,Denny Martin
THANKS FOR WORKING ON THE PRIMITIVE CAMP AREAThanks to Scott McCain, Cole McCain, Brian Gearhart, Cody Gearhart, Austin Gearhart, Bab Smith, Neil Smith, Denny Martin, Jay Caumea, Jerry Everett, Ryan Stribley, Sean Stribley, Ray Foster, Jim Danko, Jared Chapman, Earl McVicar, John Hall, Mike Hall, Ed Migdal, Katie Evans, Harold Lott, Fred Lott, Sue Martin, NC Arbolist, Arolil – Tomas – Misial – Jose, Kurt Nelson, Jake Nelson, Tyler Martin, bob Evans, Michael Hirt, Nick Heye, & Bruce Heye.
THANKS FOR MOWINGDenny Martin mowed the field behind the rifle range firing line. He had to do it twice to knock it all down. Thanks, Denny, we appreciate your work.
OPERATION RANGE PRIDEWhat can you do to become involved and help your association? Look about the range on your next visit. When you see something with a green sheet attached, it is in need of fixing. Please adopt a project and help by fixing it. If we all do a little maintenance it will make a big difference. We can all take pride in being the best range around. Thanks for your support!
A BIG THANK YOU TO JACK REYNOLDSJack was an instrumental part of giving CPR to someone in dire need of help at the Friends of NRA banquet on Saturday, April 20. Jack is the son of Range Master L. T. Reynolds.

R A N G E M A S T E RS O U N D O F F
There was a Range Master meeting held on March 22nd. There were 54 range masters present. We are only saying this because we are very proud to say it. Think about it, 54 volunteer range masters attended a meeting because they cared enough about this association and it’s members to want to do it right. We think that’s saying something. From the Chief Range Master’s, our deep felt and full hearted thank you.
We would like to dedicate this sound off to address the questions which arose during our meeting. 1. - What about the use of real person image targets to be placed in the SOP’s? The use of targets that display the image of a political, controversial or public person, living or dead is
prohibited. This rule will be made a part of the association SOP’s.2. - Can members clean their rifles on the rifle range? Rifles may only be cleaned on the rifle range if the rifle is set on a shooting bench on the firing line, with the
muzzle pointed downrange at all times. No rifle cleaning will take place anywhere behind the firing line or in the parking lot. Muzzleloaders may place their rifles in a holder against their shooting bench in an upright position to clean.
3. - Does a junior shooter need a note from a parent to practice at our property? An adult supervisor must accompany all junior shooters any time they use the association facilities. If the
adult accompanying the junior is not their custodial parent or guardian, they must have a signed note from the custodial parent or guardian giving them permission to be at the range.
4. - Can we cover the range masters on our insurance? All volunteers, including the range masters are covered by our liability insurance policy providing they are a
member in good standing and were in compliance with all rules and regulations set down by the association.5. - Application notices (renewals). The renewal applications will be sent to each member accompanied by a letter explaining that all future renewals
will be put in the newsletter and no other notice will be sent.A question arose regarding some sort of green material being used as a target backer. This question was tabled until
such time as this material could be inspected by the Board. Some questions were for the Chief Range Master who replied as follows:1. - Where do firearms go during a cease fire call? a. All firearms are to be made safe and placed down on the bench immediately. If the ceasefire is not a call and
only a cold range, firearms should be made safe and then may be placed in the racks provided before anyone goes downrange.
2. - All shooters will be required to sign in and out at all of the ranges they use. Example: a shooter signs in at the pistol range. The same shooter then wants to go to the rifle range; they must sign out at pistol and then sign in/out at rifle.
3. - There will be notices posted displaying the property address and telephone number at each of the association telephones in the event an emergency occurs. In addition, there will be notices posted letting all know that the range masters will be checking membership cards and photo identification.
Rattlesnake season is upon us once again. Please be careful where you place your hands and feet. Be especially wary of your children at the association barbeque. Last year we had a couple of incidents where the kids were playing and thought the snakes were big worms.
Range Master of the Month: is James DeFrank . James is an avid small bore rifle shooter with a happy go lucky attitude. James is a knowledgeable shooting enthusiast as well as an NRA life member. Please give James a handshake and a big thank you when you see him up at the range.
