I have never been a high pressure sales type, rather let the cattle speak for themselves, but if you want an honest opinion, give me a call and I will tell you what I think.

This Rhythm daughter is the definition of a ground sow. Huge bodied, lots of muscle, super sound, and still has an attractive look to her. She reminds me of what all the good Power Drive cows looked like as calves. She will be competitive in the show ring, but I truly think she has the capability of making some of these refined, high API bulls actually look like stud bulls.

Co-Owned with Nelson Family Farms Style has worked as good as any Angus bull that we have used for making these SimAngus show heifers and this one is no exception. 350A is a full sister to the fall heifer that topped the Louisville sale last year who sold to Felt Farms and Udell Cattle Co. She went on to win the SimAngus show at the Nebraska State Fair. This heifer was a favorite of many who stopped by our stalls at State Fair and she has absolutely exploded since then. I have never had, or seen a percentage Simmental that has had this much hair, and that’s including heifers out of clubby bred sires. She will be a lot of fun to work on for the show ring, but I really think this one will shine in a donor pen.

These two Januarys have had some more time to mature and it is evident that the older these heifers get, the better they are going to be. Both have that sweet front end that Rhythm consistently puts into her progeny, and also combine that with depth and shape of rib as well as being very square out of their hip. Both of these heifers have very nice soft hair coats as well. I am not sure which one is the best, so you can take your pick, but both will sell.

This is a big statement, but I think this heifer is as good, or better than any of those heifers. Rocket necked, smooth shouldered, big bodied, and sound as a cat best describes this heifer. Rhythm and that doesn’t hurt anything either. Her sire is an Upward son I bought a few years back from Joe Nelson. The bull originated out of the Midland sale. This is the second calf crop out of him and he has done a very nice job here. The heifers are going to make awesome cows and the bulls have been very marketable. When we combined two breed greats, this is what we were hoping for. This baldy heifer has the color pattern to catch anybody’s eye, but also has the quality to hold it as well. Being big footed, with lots of bone, rib shape, and muscle, this K18 daughter has a bright and profitable future. K18 isn’t getting any younger and this is the only daughter that we have to sell this year. I wish we would have kept more K18 daughters over the years, but they are always the ones that pay the bills. Top that off with a little chrome on her head and on her flank, and you have a real eye catcher. I will be the first to admit that I have never been one to follow the norm, and have pride in raising and offering cattle that may not be mainstream genetics for a lot of folks. That is probably why I absolutely love this heifer. You are probable asking,

what is Madden? Madden is the lead bull from the Champion Purebred Pen of 3 at the 2012 National Western. He was also the Powerbull winner that year. As luck would have it, Leslie’s dad, Kenny, was the winning ticket that year and so we selected him our bull. He is an outcross to basically everything we have so I talked him into letting us run him behind our cows and what a job he has done. You will find a nice set of heifers in this offering. This heifer has been a favorite of mine since she was very young, and has not disappointed us as she has developed. 342A is as sharp fronted heifer as we have raised, yet still has lots of shape and depth of rib and carries that depth back into her flank. She moves very well, and combine that with her high balanced EPD package, I think you have a serious contender here. Her outcross pedigree only adds to her appeal and her dam has produced some real nice bulls for us as well. Imagine the mating possibilities here.

Fusion sired one of the high selling opens in the first Livin’ the Dream sale and that following summer we leased him from Sanders Ranch and ran him behind our cows. I can say that I am pleased with the results. This heifer is one that I think

has the potential to be really, really good. Her mother is getting some age on her, and doesn’t do as good of job as she once did so this one came in a little greener. If you evaluate this heifers parts, I think she is very hard to fault. She is long necked, soft bodied, good haired, and super sound. Throw her blaze face into the equation, and you got a heifer that will get you noticed.

I think that these two heifers both have a lot of future. U857 is a maternal sister to our foundation donor K18, and 381A is her natural calf. These are both a couple of the younger heifers in our offering but don’t hold that against them. They both are as sound as you can make one and both have a striking look to them. I think complete and fault free best describe 381A. Fancy, as we call the one with more chrome, had an old cow for a recip and was probably the greenest heifer we had when we started on these heifers, but look past that and you will find a long necked heifer with lots of natural body and rib shape. Another very attractive Excalibur daughter out of an Ohlde bred cow. This mating seems to be as consistent as any around. A moderate heifer like this is built to be around a long time. They will be easy fleshing and my experience with these Ohlde F1’s is that come weaning time in the fall, their ¾ blood calves are usually some of my biggest around.
