ORDER OF CATALOGUE Animals are sold in catalogue order. HEALTH TESTS All animals have been tested for TB. All adult animals and calves at foot over 9 months of age, entered in Part 1 and 2 of the Sale, have been BVD antigen tested clear and vaccinated. Due to the nature of Johne‟s Disease, it is considered that testing is best conducted at a whole herd level. Statements as to the status of individual animals with regard to Johne‟s Disease are only given for animals from a CHeCS accredited Herd and in such cases, a Risk Level for Johne‟s will be given where available. FERTILITY Every animal at this sale, with the exception of animals sold in Part 3 of the Sale, carries a National Beef Association warranty. Females sold as in-calf have been PD tested as 12 weeks or more in calf on the day of the PD test. Females PD‟d at under 12 weeks, are not warranted as in-calf. A copy of the warranty conditions in full are available from the office or the Devon Cattle Breeders Society on the day of sale. Animals sold in Part 3 of the Sale are sold unwarranted. UPSET PRICE All bulls are sold subject to an upset price of 1200gns. CONDITIONS OF SALE These will be according to the terms and conditions of the National Beef Association Breed Society Auction Rules. The Society has fixed the „keep‟ element of these rules as being:- Bulls £7 per week. Females £5 per week. The cost of the warranty will be met by the Devon Cattle Breeders Society. DCBS TYPE CLASSIFICATION SCHEME The DCBS operates its own tailored type classification scheme to assist breeders‟ efforts in breeding the “ideal type” Red Ruby Devon. The scheme has been running since 2005. The classification scheme‟s scoring system measures skeletal conformation, mobility, and breed character to produce a Final Score of 100. Animals are classified by the Society‟s independent Classification Officer, into the following classification designations: Moderate “M” scores 50-59 out of 100 Good “G” scores 60-69 out of 100 Good Plus “G+” scores 70-79 out of 100 Very Good “VG” scores 80-89 out of 100 Excellent “EX” scores 90-100 out of 100

Animals entered for sale which have been Type Classified will have their classification designation shown at the end of the pedigree registration number. For example:

Northstar is a well grown bull. His sire, Bollowal Elgar, is a tremendous bull that has been shown with great success, being Breed Champion and Reserve Native Breed Champion at the Royal Three Counties Show this summer. Northstar‟s brother, Stonegrove Moneymaker, was shown successfully as a yearling bull and is now working as one of our stock bulls in the Stonegrove Herd. As a yearling, Fearless was DCBS Bull of the Year in 2005. Northstar has been blood tested clear and vaccinated for IBR, BVD and Lepto.

Monty has shown well and has a lovely temperament and good conformation. The Colleton herd has been a CHeCS accredited HiHealth Herdcare herd for several years and is now accredited free of IBR, BVD and has achieved Risk Level 1 John's Disease status. Colleton Montgomery was given his annual booster vaccinated for BVD and Lepto on 16 February 2013. The Colleton Herd records with ABRI Breedplan. Under Devon Cattle Breeders‟ Society rules, transfers are the responsibility of the purchaser and a transfer fee is payable by the purchaser: £12 per female and £15 per male (incl. of VAT) However, for all animals purchased at the DCBS Society Show & Sale, all transfers are FREE for animal purchased in Parts 1 and 2 of the Sale and the pedigree transfer will be completed automatically by the DCBS office. Please note the normal transfer fee will apply for any animal sold in Part 3 of this sale or sold privately. In this event, buyers will be given a transfer form to complete and return, with fees, to DCBS office.
