None among them has fol- lowed that procedure," Singh said, addressing the "National Seminar on Good Governance, Development and Human Rights" here. MUDDASIR ALI Srinagar, Sep 21: Despite passing of more than four years, the government is yet to make functional Baglihar training institute to train young talent for operation and maintenance (O&M) of hydropower proj- ects in the state. An official told Greater Kashmir that a committee headed by managing direc- tor PDC Shah Faisal, which was tasked to provide blue- print for making the insti- tute named Chenab Power Management and Training Institute Baglihar func- tional, has submitted its report to the administra- tive department (power development department). The institute, set up at a cost of around Rs 50 crore, is located near 450-MW Baglihar hydropower proj- ect in Chenab valley. The PDC which owns 22 projects with cumulative capacity of 1211.96 MW has talked about its ambitious plan to set up another 14 projects in future includ- ing 1856-MW Sawlakote, 930-MW Kirthai-II, 390-MW Kirthai-I and 93-MW New Ganderbal. Will PDC’s training institute ever be functional?
