Abstract
It is proposed to collect ECG data from AIIMS Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, Malaya Hospital Bangalore, Apollo Hospital Chennai and local hospitals. Intelligent classifiers based on techniques like Linear Support Vector Machine, Artificial Neural Network, Pattern-recognition, Genetic algorithm, digital signal processing, fuzzy theory etc. are proposed to be developed for the analysis and diagnosis of ECG. The effectiveness of the classifiers shall be evaluated using standard ECG database of CSE (France), AHA and MIT-BIH (USA). The proposed project is an attempt to develop a more reliable indigenous portable ECG analyzer and save valuable foreign exchange. The prototype developed shall have an important role in monitoring the health of ambulatory as well as non-ambulatory patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and Cardiac Care Units (CCU) in hospitals.

a) Collect ECG data from various hospitals of the country b) Coordinate with local and other medical colleges/hospitals. c) Develop intelligent classifiers for computer based diagnostic system for the analysis of multi-lead ECG
d) Electrical Engineering Dept., JNV University, Jodhpur has been actively involved in research in Biomedical Engg. For the last decade and has been helpful in developing faculty in the area. The proposed project shall not only provide additional infrastructure for biomedical research, which is presently not adequately available in western part of Rajasthan, but provide them a platform to carry their ongoing research and expertise further.

Project Impact -Expected outcome
a) Aims at developing intelligent classifiers for the identification of various important wave complexes of ECG which shall be used for the analysis and diagnosis of ECG.
b) The proposed study shall lead to development of ECG analyzer. It shall help cardiologists to quickly and accurately process more number of ECGs. Thus, providing better and efficient health care services.
c) It has application in both urban as well as rural areas. If the product is interfaced with knowledge base, it has important role in rural areas where it can help in arriving at a decision and in critical cases moving the patient to place with better medical facilities, well in time.
d) Saving of valuable foreign exchange.

Literature survey on National &International scenario
Various programs for the computerized interpretation of the ECG are commercially available namely, AVE (USA),
Glasgow (UK), HES, HP (USA), Leuven, Lyon, Marquette (USA), MEANS (NL), MEDIS, Nogya (Japan), Padova,
Porto etc. based on statistical and heuristic methods but their finer technical details are not available due to trade
secrets. Moreover, research is being carried out and the available literature is limited only to identification of only a
few features of the ECG. The proposed project aims at accurate identifications of most of the components of ECG
using intelligent classifiers instead of few with better accuracy.

Some research work in this area is being carried out at IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and IISc Bangalore. The final product
shall help cardiologists to quickly and accurately process more number of ECGs and lead to better health care of
both Urban as well as rural population. The preliminary result indicate the performance of the proposed project shall
be cost effective and better than those prevailing in the medical use. It will save valuable foreign currency.
