Rowan is the main character in the story, Rowan of Rin. Rowan is a shy, timid boy that looks after the buksha. He’s not strong like other boys. He get easily scared. He has to face his fears to solve the problem in the story.

Rowan of Rin is an Emily Rodda fantasy story. It is a fantasy because it includes made-up things, places and names. This story also includes magic, power and strength. Sheba the witch is the one that has the magic power. None of the characters like Sheba, because she is mean and cruel to the others. She shows her magic by making Rowan have to go up on to the mountain, because the map she gave them only works when Rowan is holding it.
