Devon Air Ambulance
• 27th August 1992, operations commence
• July 1997, from 5 to 7 days per week
• April 2005, second helicopter starts service
• September 2008, launch of the new helicopter G-DVAA
• January 2010, opening of the new North Devon airbase.
• Summer 2011 – extended flying hours
• 2013 delivery of our 2nd owned EC135

• Only county to have 2 air ambulances.• Provides the service up to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week.• Responds to over 1000 incidents each year.• We are independent of Government funding.

Why have an air ambulance?
• Takes treatment to the patient and conveys the patient to the most appropriate hospital for their needs
• Can land in places that are inaccessible to land ambulances
• Crews are able to deliver enhanced clinical care to patients.
• We carry medical equipment not always available on land ambulances
