WORDS OF WELCOME & ANNOUNCMENTS
PRELUDE
CALL TO WORSHIP The world is hard. There is much violence and anger. Our urge is to respond in kind.
Merciful God, quiet our rush to judgment.
The news that surrounds us is heavy. Our anxiety is building and our confusion mounts.
Calming God, ease the tension within us.
Bring us to your table & make us one.
Let us worship God!
HYMN #65 “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” see page 4
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Redeeming God, you bring life out of dead ends and hope in the midst of despair. Forgive us
for doubting that you are still at work even in the darkest hour. Forgive us for our hesitant
action, our cautious compassion, our too frequent reluctance. Teach us a stillness that leads
to acts of kindness and clarity of vision. Shape in us a trust that leads to faithful witness and
bold compassion that eases our anger and builds true communion at your table. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS (2 Corinthians 5:17-18) If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation:
Everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
All this is from God, to whom we have been reconciled through Christ.
Thanks be to God!
RESPONSE “This is the Day” This is the day, this is the day.
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made.
