Tourism focuses on the country's natural landscapes and its rich history and is a significant contributor to the Romania's economy. Following commerce, tourism is the second largest component of the services sector. Tourism is one of the most dynamic and fastest developing sectors of the Romanian economy and is characterized by a huge potential for development.

Romania has a lot of touristic objectives, natural and man-made.

Romania destinations such as Mangalia, Saturn, Venus, Neptun, Olimp, Constanta and Mamaia (sometimes called

the Romanian Riviera) are among the most popular attractions during the summer.

The seaside of the Black Sea offers very good conditions for the estival tourism like the mineral waters, therapeutic muds offered by the lakes in the neighbourhood of the coastline: Techirghiol, Tatlageac, Neptun,

Siutghiol, Sinoe, Navodari and Tasaul.

The Carpathian Mountains have a special position in the touristic circuit of the country with their amazing views and other forms of relief.

The Prahova Valleyzone includes touristic resorts,famous in the whole world, like Sinaia, Predeal, Poiana Brasov, towns with a special touristic potential: mountainviews,(the Bucegi mountains, Piatra Craiului(King’s Stonemountains)resorts for winter sports and special architectonic monuments, the

most important being The Peles Castle.

Other major natural attractions in Romania such as the Danube Delta,the Iron Gates (Danube Gorge), Scărişoara Cave and several

other caves in the Apuseni Mountains have yet to receive great attention.

The Danube Delta is a natural reservation,famous worldwide for the beauty of its views, this being an important touristic attraction.

For their medieval atmosphere and castles, Transylvanian cities such as Sibiu, Braşov, Sighişoara, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureş have become

important touristic attractions for foreigners.

Rural tourism focused on folklore and traditions, has become an important alternative recently, and is targeted to promote such sites as

the Peles Castle ,Bran and its Dracula's Castle, the Painted churches of Northern Moldavia, the Wooden churches of Maramureş, or the Merry

Cemetery in the Maramureş County.

Situated at 30 km away from Brasov, between the Bucegi Mountains and Piatra Craiului( King’s Stone),the Bran Castle is an important national monument and

landmark for the tourism in Romania, due to its beauty, its landscape,but also to the legend of Dracula count,whose spirit still haunts these ancient places. Many legends

are related to the Bran Castle. Some say that this castle belonged to Dracula Count(Vlad Tepes),but there isn’t any proof in that direction. Vlad Tepes resided for a

short while in the castle and only as a guest.

North of MoldaviaThe north of Moldavia hosted the most important churchdom monuments of feudal art like : Voronet

monastery, Humor monastery, Dragomirna monastery, Sucevita monastery.

Situated in the north-west of Romania, at the borders with Ukraine, Maramures is the place where the ancient traditions, the folk

costumes and the ancient art are better preserved than nowhere else in Romania. That’s why the principal attraction in Maramures is the life

of the village. The traditional architecture of Maramures has an important place in wood processing art in Romania and Europe.
