Teachers! We are so excited to get started with our campus reading incentive program,

Rogers Reads! The purpose of course is to encourage our students to read on a dai-

ly basis by setting weekly and monthly goals. Please do you best to encourage stu-

dents to read! Students will set monthly and weekly goals. This is an excellent oppor-

tunity to incorporate goal setting into instruction. A list for recommended minutes is

listed below, as well a breakdown of the incentives. Happy reading!

Monthly Incentives (Whole-Class): –The top class per grade level (both minutes and “goal-earners”) will earn:

-Featured on the announcements

-Spotlight in the library

-Book Worm Award (Trophy)

- The top three readers per grade Level will earn:

-A book of their choice

- Students who reach their goal all four weeks will receive a button

Weekly incentives (Individual): -Student who reach their goal will earn:

- Student coupons (teachers may choose which options to allow in

their classroom)

Teacher Incentives: -The teacher of the top class per grade level will earn:

- Extended Lunch

Themes - February-Valentine’s Day

- March– March Madness

- April– Springtime

- May– Summer Days

How it Works: 1) Teachers post minute/goal chart in the classroom

2) Reading Logs are distributed at the beginning of the week (Monday).

These can be your existing reading logs.

3) Students set a goal for reading minutes per week. Please add a goal

section for students to write down a weekly goal for reading minutes

4) Students track minutes, write total and post information on class chart

5) Ms. Coates and Ms. Green Holmes will pick up goal charts at the end of

the month!

Rogers Reads

Recommended Reading Levels Per Grade Level Pre-K 10-15 daily

*This includes minutes that parents read to students

K-1st Grade 15-20 daily

*This may include minutes that parents read to students

2-3rd Grade 20-30 minutes daily

4-5th Grade 25-35 minutes daily

Each class will receive a goal chart to track minutes; however reading

teachers will be responsible for setting reading minute goals and reading logs.

Please use discretion when goal-setting with students. Reach out if you would

like support in assigning minutes to students. This is trial month so we will be ask-

ing for feedback at the end of the month! Let’s get our kids reading!

Estamos muy emocionados en nuestra escuela por incentivar la lectura y comenzar

el programa “Rogers Read”. La propuesta de este programa es animar a nuestros estu-

diantes a leer sobre una base diaria, estableciendo metas semanales y mensuales. ¡Por

favor haga todo lo posible por alentar a su hijo a leer! Para las metas, los estudiantes con-

tarán con un control de los minutos leídos que su maestro ha registrado. A continuación, se

encuentra una lista con los minutos recomendados así como el desglose de los incentivos.
