Rarely do you get so much

in one package: optimised,

designed to minimum weight

and maximum righting moment,

strength (structures to ABS

standard), speed and aesthetics,

with world class build.

The Rogers Class 40 is an optimised racing machine, beautifully balanced with an easily driven and powerful hull. The first of the Rogers Class 40’s was launched in August 2007 with another two following in quick succession. Since then all three boats have been pounded and tested in short-handed events, with excellent owner and skipper feedback.

The Rogers Class 40 has benefitted greatly from the past and present short-handed projects that Rogers Yacht Design have been involved in, from the innovative Mini Transat to the new state-of-the-art Open 60 for Artemis Ocean Racing. Tank testing and on-the-water experience have provided an invaluable platform from which to commence this Class 40 design. Specific FEA, stability, VPP and weather

routing studies were undertaken to arrive at a philosophy which has proved to show a clear understanding of the boat and the rule. This has resulted in a no-compromise racing machine ideal for the short-handed sailor, but with reliability, structural strength and safety also being key considerations.

Composite Marine International (CMI),

based in Thailand, is the selected

production builder for the Rogers Class

40. They have an impressive facility under

the direction of Pom Green and have

carefully constructed this boat to achieve

minimum weight, maximum righting

moment and a first class build at a very

competitive price.

The hull, deck and all main structures are

epoxy/e-glass / PVC foam and produced

from female moulds. In trying to find

the ultimate in build quality, CMI have

accurately monitored and used their

machine assisted resin impregnation

system to give an almost pre-preg build,

but without the additional costs. The boat

is finished with a durable Awl-grip paint

finish that is not only very light weight, but gives a beautiful finish to the boat.

The rig is a carefully chosen section from Formula Spars, UK, whose reputation precedes them. The internal layout is optimised to Class 40 rules but designed to offer secure and flexible accommodation when offshore and alongside. All deck gear has been specified to be of the highest

quality from premium manufacturers such as Harken, Lewmar, Karver and Spinlock.

The Rogers Class 40 is produced using some of the most experienced suppliers and builders in the world, ultimately offering a strong, reliable but finessed Class 40.

driver talk backSimon Clarke (Clarke Offshore Racing Ltd, UK)

“The Rogers class 40 was a great boat for the TJV, fast on all points of sail and very well balanced. Her deep cockpit and well laid out deck plan make her safe and easy to sail short handed. I am looking forward to sailing many more miles on her this year”.

Tanguy de Lamotte (Novedia Set, France)

“It was Simon’s past innovative Mini Transat design which first attracted me to his office. I was excited to be able to have some input in the design to produce a fully optimised, well designed and structured Class 40 without compromise and that is what I have now. Having completed many offshore racing miles, I can say that there is very little I needed to change and that she is a complete weapon. There are plenty of Class 40s to choose from, but for me it was the mix of design philosophy, structuring, the build quality and high specification that made the Rogers Class 40 the simple choice. For all you guys thinking of joining this exciting Class, you would be crazy not to seriously consider this boat!”
