Parent Organization: Rochester Active Sports Club
Our goal is to provide the opportunity to learn to skate ski, a lifetime sport.
200 students in 7th through 12th grades from schools around SE MN. (Mayo, JM, Century, Lourdes, Byron, Stewartville, Hayfield, etc)
Over 46 part-time volunteer coaches with skate experience (background checks and concussion testing)
What to Expect:
Dryland for the month of December
Skiers are grouped into Beginner, Sport, and Comp groups
On-snow practices at groomed trails in Rochester (primarily Quarry Hill, Essex and Eastwood)
On-snow instruction of 4 techniques: Double poling, V1, V2, V2-Alternate
Opportunities for up to 5 races for team members who want to race with busing to 3 away meets

• For lettering purposes, you are expected to attend the entire practice in order for it to count. Therefore arriving after 4:00 or leaving before 5:00
will affect the credit you receive for that practice.
• For safety purposes, we check to be sure that every skier is accounted for at the end of each practice.
If you do not check out, we will be looking for you! Please do not forget to check out!

Lettering Updates
The 1st year on the Rochester Nordic Ski Team
is an introductory year.
Skiers will be learning the techniques of
skate skiing and building skills and endurance.
Novice 1st year skiers will not be eligible to earn a
Varsity Letter.

The 2nd year and every year after that,
the following criteria will be used
to determine lettering:
1. Practice: >85% attendance
2. Meets: at least 3 meets
3. Community Service: at least 12 hours
4. Technique: pass all 4 areas

The Community Service hours may be accumulated anytime
from March 1, 2016 through February 12, 2017.
A minimum of 12 Community Service Hours is required
to earn a Varsity Letter.
Although first-year skiers are not eligible to letter, we
encourage all skiers to participate in Community Service!
All skiers who record at least 12 Community Service hours
will be recognized at the banquet!
12 hours must be completed and entered online by February
12th to qualify for lettering. This is before end of season!
Enter your hours at any time! Hours can be entered as they
are accumulated.
No double dipping! The community service hours submitted
to RNST should not be used for other organizations.
Hours are recorded online and can be found at the web
address listed in the Informational Packet. Email reminders
will be sent out throughout the season!

(NNN and Salomon)!!!
All RNST skis are all equipped with

RASC has a limited (~100) number of skis and poles
We are committed to getting skis and poles
to first year skiers
Cost $35 for the season
Skis and ski poles will be distributed today
for 1st year skiers.
If there are remaining skis and ski poles , 2nd year
skiers are eligible for this equipment. This will be
determined by the first practice on Nov 28th.
