Robins Term 2 Autumn 2010 Physical Development We will be focusing our learning in these areas: •Gymnastics: making complex sequences varying in direction, speed and level. Combining actions, shapes and balances. • An awareness of audience: performing and preparation. • Games: (football) - using a variety of techniques and skills with increased control, working in teams, choosing and using appropriate tactics. • Dance: developing creativity and imagination though movement, performing expressively, showing expression and emotion. Knowledge & Understanding of the World We are continuing our study of New Zealand, including: •Linking up with a school through ICT, including Podcasting and emailing •Finding out about the economy, history, coastlines, people, culture and way of life In Science, we will be focusing on Earth and Space learning about day and night, seasons, years, months, the phases of the moon. In ICT we will be focusing on: • Multi-media presentations linked with our New Zealand topic • Merlin & E-Safety: finding things out, exchanging and sharing information • Creating a fact file/ illustrated account Communication, Literacy and Language Does the Punishment Fit the crime? We will be delving into the world of mystery and detectives, solving puzzles and clues and finding out about different people from the past, including: -A study of the poem ‘The Highwayman’ by Alfred Noyes and choral poetry -Developing our understanding of argument texts, through a ‘whodunnit’ mystery -Biographies and autobiographies of notorious criminals MFL We will be developing our conversational French, as well as our knowledge of Creative Development We will be continuing to develop creativity in all areas of the curriculum, including using ICT as a tool to use through everything we do. We will be using our design skills to create Maori sculptures and clay work and find out about foods from New Zealand We will be continuing to develop the Year 6 privilege area We will be building space buggies PSE Development (Personal and Social Emotional) Our topic is ‘Getting on and Falling out’ We will be focusing on: -Different kinds of relationships and how to behave -Friendships -How to solve and ease conflict situations -Anger triggers and ways of calming down -Being responsible for choices we make -Anti-bullying RE We will be studying the significance of Christmas to Christians, including: •Christian beliefs about promises •How the birth of Jesus is remembered by Christians •Raising and responding to questions about the significance of Jesus and his message for Christians in today’s society Mathematical development We will be focusing on the following learning: Puzzles, sequences, patterns of number, reasoning, Handling data: suggest, plan and develop lines of enquiry. Physical Development

We will be focusing our learning in these areas:

•Gymnastics: making complex sequences varying in direction, speed and level. Combining actions, shapes

and balances.

• An awareness of audience: performing and preparation.

• Games: (football) - using a variety of techniques and skills with increased control, working in teams,

choosing and using appropriate tactics.

• Dance: developing creativity and imagination though movement, performing expressively, showing

expression and emotion.

We are continuing our study of New Zealand, including:
