What Should Robin Hood Do?

There are several issues Robin Hood needs to consider. First, Robin Hood needs to make sure

his own personal grievances against the Sheriff do not cloud his vision and what is in the best

interest of his Merrymen as a group. Second, take a broad look at the overall organizational

structure by conducting SWOT analysis. A SWOT analysis will help determine some

strategic alternatives and how the group can attempt to fulfill its mission and achieve its

goals.

Robin Hood can use the SWOT analysis to identify where he is strong and vulnerable, where

he should defend and attack by scanning both internal and external environment. So, the

SWAT analysis process will start instantly to find out some of the reality of the Barons even

though the time is limited by sending his spies so that he can have a controlled position in

later after that Robin Hood should accept the offer to merge with the Barons to fight the

Sheriff and secure King Richard's release.

New strategies Robin Hood needs to develop from SWAT analysis outcome in relation to

Primary goal i.e. Releasing King Richard are:

Improve his groups quality by means of:

1) Find a new way to get food ( it can get help after merged with the baron up to a certain

extend till they make his better position of their own ).

2) Starting prevailing transparency in order to make sure that fairness will exist in his group.

3) Taking care of the quality of his group member through evaluation.

4) Implementing basic training project for members.

He should try to get people from prince’s court. Acting as a spy and thus letting him know of

any new strategy prince is formulating against him. Robin Hood should not recruit new men

in his group and should rather diversify. He should provide his men with funds and support to

become merchants and trader. The group thus formed should be supported and hence they

can use their power to threat other merchants as well as the prince.

Robin Hood needs to develop a new organization structure resulting to lead for discipline and

knowing and trusting those in the group. The most appropriate change in structure would

possibly be promoting more lieutenants in order to watch over the men better and keep the

men clear of their strategy. Maybe the group could form smaller camps that are part of the

whole for organizational.

ROBINHOOD’S ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

CURRENT ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Currently Robin Hood’s organisation is much unorganised. He is assisted by three people for

the functions and is certainly under employed. It is very evident that managing such a huge

organisation is getting difficult for him and there may be certain functions that are rejected

due to less supervisors and managers. There is not much of interaction between the various

departments. Robin Hood needs to change the organisational structure. He should change it to

the below mentioned structure and delegate responsibility in order to manage the bigger

group that he now commands. This will result in decentralisation of the control to some

extent however, not to the fullest level but to certain extent.

NEW ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

1. In order to meet the decreasing level of discipline and vigilance Robin hood needs to put

the recruitment process in order. A better way to do this is by recruiting supervisors and

laying down HR policies for recruitment. For example they could limit the age, family

background. By doing this he shall only get workers who are focussed and share the similar

goal.

2. Appoint a few food shelters and medical supervisors under his human resource manager.

Food and shelter supervisors will concentrate on sole responsibilities. The main role of food

supervisors will be constantly look for newer and cheaper sources of food.

3. Device a spy/Vigilance division under the operation manager to built a fleet of spies and

deploy them around the sheriff’s office. The job should encompass the cross verification of

the details of new recruits.

4) And lastly all the departments should have vertical information flow as horizontal (top to bottom and vice versa).
