The 38,760 SF Surgery Addition created additional space for Surgery, Central Sterile and MRI departments. The Cath Lab department was relocated from the existing location in the basement. The new location created a better flow for patients and the opportunities to develop invasive procedures.

The lobby space was renovated to improve the waiting experience. The new greeter desk was more visible and welcoming to patients.

A phasing schedule was developed to assist the contractor in managing the renovation process and ensuring that patient care services remained operational throughout the project.

Patient flow and privacy was greatly improved with the new family waiting space, a dedicated discharge point and private Pre-Post Op rooms.

The addition contains 4 operating rooms supported by a shared clean supply core and an adjacent Central Sterile department. The MRI suite includes an imaging room, control room and patient prep area.

Watertown Area Medical Center - Surgery Addition Watertown, WI

A 56,000 SF addition to the existing building created space for the expanded Surgery, Central Sterile, Materials Management, MRI, PACU and Pre-Post Op departments. The 2 story addition located Central Sterile below Surgery, connected with dedicated clean and soiled elevators to transport staff and equipment. New service elevators were also part of the project, separating back of house and front of house patient and material flows. The registration desk and gift shop were relocated and a new waiting room was designed. The ICU was also relocated and expanded as part of the project.

The new Surgery department has four operating rooms, a minor procedure room and an integrated services room, all surrounding a central sterile core. Custom casework in the operating rooms holds video integration equipment and charting computers. Ceiling mounted booms in the operating rooms hold equipment and deliver medical gases. The equipment was coordinated with the equipment planner and engineering consultants.
