I am currently working for Rolls-Royce Nuclear (Submarines) unfortunately I cant go in to detail about the job because I have signed the official secrects act, but I can tell you I have a lot experience in TIG , Stick & MIG welding processes. Since working there I have gained experience on mechanical welding processes such as MIG Cladding and Automated TIG. I started work there in 2013 and this is my current place of work.
Education: The William Allitt School
Achievements in school
I studied at the William Allitt School for five years; my chosen ‘option’ subjects were Mathematics , English , and Science (double award)Resistant Materials Technology, History , ICT and PE. I achieved a GCSE grade c in all of these subjects including a B grade in PE.
Work Experience Honda F1 Racing Team
My work experience lasted between 9th-13th July 2007. I was involved in the cutting of carbon fibre material procedure and I was also involved in the laminating department , where all carbon composite components are constructed for the racing car. I enjoyed my time there as I learnt new practical and communicational skills there .
Achievements out of the workplace/education
In my leisure time I like to be outdoors or participate in physical activity. My hobbies are kickboxing (I achieved a 2nd degree black belt at the age of 15), football, cycling/mountain biking , I also have a keen interest in motor sport.
During my exams I had a part time job at Dixons Engineering LTD in Swadlincote , I worked there doing jobs such as, drilling, painting, guillotine cutting, and also bending plate, and sweeping to keep a clean work area .
Apprenticeship
I completed my apprenticeship with Shaw Group UK LTD. (3year) 2009
My first year included 5 days at Derby College, and I am pleased to say that I passed all of my courses.
My second year was experience in the Derby fabrication shop, learning to become coded in TIG and MMA welding, in all positions and on materials such as carbon and chrome. I am currently coded in all positions of
welding.
The codings I trained on were: (ASME)
Full TIG 2 inch, heavy wall
TIG & MMA 2inch, heavy wall
TIG & MMA , 6 inch heavy wall (up to 24inch heavy wall)
These coding’s cover carbon and all chrome materials
I also have coding’s in stainless steel (Full TIG)
Finally my third year consisted of site experience, I was contracting at Pembroke Power Station, I was involved in welding small bore pipe including heavy wall pipe and also steelwork skin casing in and out of the boiler.
I have been trained on over-head pendant cranes, I also have a passport to safety and lastly I have an ‘abrasive wheel trained’ card.
EUROPEAN STEELCRAFT: After my apprenticeship I worked at small fabrication shop in ilkeston called European Steel craft, this include GTAW, MMA, SMAW welding processes on main steam components for the Chinese power station sector.
AMEC: I also had time at Amec working at Connocco Oil Refinery in Cork (IRELAND)This job consisted of repairing and replacing worn skin casing on the oil storage tanks, in order to do the job I have to use equipment such as oxy-acetaline burning equipment, angle grinders and Stick welding gear to secure the new floor and sidewalls in place
HI-TECH FABRICATION : This job was in fabrication shop in bretby business park (Staffordshire) . This job mainly consisted of power station components and petro-chemical vessels & pipework. Again I used the three main welding processes TIG , MMA and MIG. I had experience on carbon , nickel alloy , stainless steel and Monel.
SHAW GROUP (CB&I) : I returned to Shaw Group for 'piece work', this job comprised of welding small bore drain pipework for power stations in the UK and large bore pressure pipework ; using TIG & Stick welding processes on carbon and stainless steel pipeowrk and plate (brackets)
