Hasbury Expeditions Taumarunui High School in partnership with Kia manawanui | Be steadfast Volcanic Experience New Zealand Rob Hasbury Rob Hasbury has twenty years experience as a unit leader in Shropshire and has run Gold and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedions from the Hasbury’s Mill for ten years in Tuscany. He has held a Mountain Leadership Qualificaon for 25 years along with wide variety of relevant outdoor qualificaons. Rob has a love of outdoor adventure and discovery, a passion for life and a determinaon to make learning fun. He likes nothing more than sharing his experience and passion with young people. Chris Long Chris Long has fiſteen years experience working with Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award groups in the UK and in New Zealand. He moved to New Zealand in 2011 and now works in Taumarunui where he loves exploring the outdoors. Like Rob, he is happiest up a mountain or on the river! Chris holds a Mountain Leader Award (Summer), BCU Level 2 Coach and is a qualified Emergency Medical Technician. Support Crew Rob and Chris are supported by their wives, Carole and Heather. Between them they ensure groups are looked aſter pastorally, well fed and maintain contact with the folks back home. Taumarunui High School provides in country support for all young people whilst taking part in their challenge and is a signatory of the Code of Pracce for the Pastoral Care of Internaonal Students. Day 1 - Arrive Auckland, relax and recover from your flight!Day 2 - Auckland attractions then travel to Taumarunui.Day 3 to 6 - Based in Taumarunui immersing yourself in Maori and Kiwi Culture. Includes Marae Visit, Whanganui River Canoe, Timber Trail Mountain Bike and Alpine Crossing Day Walk.Day 7 & 8 - Based at the Taumarunui High School Mountain Lodge in Whakapapa Village you will prepare for your expedition. A trip to New Zealand’s highest cafe is included to help you take in the magnificent volcanic scenery.Day 9 to 12 - Expedition! You will navigate your way through bush, alpine and desert landscapes as you journey all the way around Mount Ruapehu.Day 13 - Expedition Debrief, clear lodge and return to Taumarunui. Prepare presentations.Day 14 - Black Water Rafting at the Waitomo Caves . In the evening you will make your final presentations. Parents are invited to watch these via video conference.Day 15 - Return to Auckland and flights home.
