T he Lord Is My Fortress

Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-

Powerful. Then you will say to the Lord, “You are my fortress, my place of safety; you are my God, and I trust you.” The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases. He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall.

Psalm 91:1-4 (Contemporary English

Version)

Although in a different version, the above are the memory verses that students are currently working on and I encourage families to read them and consider together this section from the Bible. It is very comforting to know that there is a strong and high wall of defence that God provides against the

often vicious attacks that come upon us all, in one form or another, throughout our lives.

Do you know that peace and security that God makes available for us in the different seasons of our lives? This is not a romantic Camelot type fantasy but a God given confidence as we walk in His ways, live by His principles, being empowered by His Spirit. This is moving where God moves, staying so close to Him that we remain in the shadow of our all-powerful God, and that’s a great place to be.

Religious Freedom Tour

Trevor Sobey will be at the Echuca Community Church, 13 Rose St. Echuca, on Sunday the 17th of June from 2pm to 4.15pm as part of the Barnabas Fund’s Religious Freedom Tour. Religious persecution is accelerating in Australia and it will be important for us to consider what we can do to enable Australia to remain a place where the good news of Jesus can continue to be shared. This gathering will include an interactive presentation, afternoon tea plus a Q&A time. More information at http://ourreligiousfreedom.org.au

Victorian Council of Churches Emergency Course

The VCC Emergency Ministry is authorised by the

Government to coordinate an integrated faith communities’

response when disaster occurs.

We hope to recruit volunteers to act as Personal Support mem-

bers to provide Psychological First Aid and assist those who may

be traumatised, grieving or in shock following a disaster. This

ministry also involves working with affected people to connect

with any internal or external resources available to them.

The Training Course is a 2 stage process involving self paced

learning and completion of a workbook prior to the face to face

training day.

The Training Session will be offered on Saturday, September

15th 2018 at St Mary’s Parish Centre.

If you are over 18 old and have an interest in being involved with

this, please leave your name at the RCCC Reception.

Another Working Bee and another dint in our jobs list;

plus some fun working together!

Thanks to those who joined in with the Working Bee last

Saturday, it was a productive time together and a morning I

always look forward to. Peter Nelson

Possibly a new voice on the school phone or a welcome in the

front office!

We are very grateful to have Mrs Sharen Tate volunteering at

times in the school office. Sharen is the mother of Charlea in

Grade 2 and Allexx who will be in Prep next year.

A wonderful Beacon Careers Expo experience at Rich River Golf Club last Tuesday morning.

Our year 9’s and 10’s attended this event along with about 340

other students from St Joseph’s College, Echuca College and

Moama Anglican Grammar. They students had selected four

twenty minute workshops out of the nearly 60 on offer from

local businesses and services. It was a most valuable time of

exploration where all the students participated in a very good

manner. Dale Costello was one of the Beacon Leaders who

delivered a speech from the stage in a great way, a previous

RCCC student (Michael Broad) participated in a panel discussion

and a workshop, plus Miss Caitlyn Phillips delivered an

interactive workshop on becoming a teacher.
