The Indian River County Intergenerational Recreation Center and Event Venue ‑ iG Center is the county’s response to the growing demand for an indoor recreation facility. Its mission is to provide a state‑of‑the‑art facility featuring diverse recreational programming to serve residents and user groups of all ages.

YOGA • iG’s low impact Yoga class, is designed to help you increase muscle strength, energy, metabolism, and more.

CHAIR YOGA • Our low impact Chair Yoga class. A gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Designed to help you improve strength, �exibility, proprioception, and much more.

Qi-GONG • Low impact Qi-Gong classes at the iG. Designed to help you with sti�en joints, tight tendons, balance, breathing, and much more.

TAI CHI • Is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The class is titled "Tai Chi For Better Balance" and is derived from the Yang-style 24-Move-ment Form.

TANG SOO DO • The ultimate way to get �t and stay �t while building con�dence. Through Martial Arts, this class is designed to help one develop self-discipline, honing athletic skills geared to all ages.

ZUMBA • iG’s high energy Zumba classes are designed to help you improve coordination and are a wonderful workout for the whole body.

PILATES • iG o�ers a Pilates class that harnesses technique from ballet, yoga and extensive Pilates studies that focuses on proper alignment and utilization of muscle groups. Beginners and walk-ins welcome to all classes.

PICKLEBALL • IRC now has Pickleball at the iG! Pickle-ball is played in the gymnasium as either singles or doubles with a paddle and a plastic wi�e ball. For those that aren’t familiar with the game, free lessons/demonstrations are also given.

ADULT BASKETBALL • IRC Recreation Department is happy to announce the upcoming spring & summer season of 5 on 5 Adult Basketball, for players 18 and up. The 5 on 5 program is now held in the iG Center’s Gymnasium. (see page 19 for more info.)

YOUTH BASKETBALL • A co-ed basketball program designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork and good sportsmanship.(see page 15-16 for more info.)

OPEN GYM • Weekly time slots available for Youth Basketball, Adult Basketball and Family Basketball. These times vary and change due to the events schedule that may occur that week. Please see our Facebook page for the weekly activity schedule or stop by the front o�ce at the iG Center.

P.E. at the iG • IRC Recreation Dept. will be o�ering Physical Education classes at the iG Center that will introduce various sports in a 3 week session. We will be teaching the rules of the game, FUNdamentals of each sport, and sportsmanship. To include: basketball, �oor hockey, kickball, dodgeball, indoor soccer, indoor �ag football, pickleball and more. Ages 5-11.

Lifeguard Class

Please join us for the Community Health & Water Safety Day at the North County Aquatic Center, located at 9450 CR 512, Sebastian, Florida. The FREE event will be held from 10:00 a.m.‑1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2018. We have an excit‑ing day planned for all ages. The event will have health screenings, water safety presentations, pool games, informational booths from local organizations and exciting raffle prizes. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit, sunscreen and towel so that you can take a dip in the pool. The pool entrance is $1.00 and all activities are FREE, so don’t be late!

Water Safety Day

Jr. Lifeguard Program The American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard Program is a two‑week class introducing lifeguarding skills to students, ages 10‑14. Classes will be held Monday & Wednesday, NCAC: June 4‑20, 2018, GAC: June 25‑July 16, 2018 (No class July 4th), from 9:00 a.m.‑3:30 p.m. each day.Tryouts and registration begins Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 2:00‑4:00 p.m. at the North County Aquatic Center. Par‑ticipants must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping, swim 10 yards under water, and tread water for one minute.The cost of the course is $75.00 per student, which includes a Junior Lifeguard t‑shirt, whistle and lanyard. Baby and Me Classes (6 months to 2 years)Caregivers and children learn together to increase a child’s comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements and breath control. The two levels are fun-filled and help introduce water safety concepts.Pre-School Lessons (3-5 years)Throughout the three levels, preschool-age children are taught basic aquatic safety and survival skills. They are encouraged to gain greater independence and increase their comfort level in and around the water. Skills are age-appropriate, helping children achieve success.Learn to Swim (Ages 6 & up)Designed to help participants achieve maximum success, Learn-to-Swim courses are based on a logical, six-level progression that helps swimmers develop their water safety, survival, and swim skills.

Level 1 - Introductory: May have little or no exposure to swimming and/or lessons. Participant needs no prior experience.Level 2 - Fundamental: Comfortable in the water, can glide on their front with face in the water and roll to their back and float.Level 3 - Stroke Development: Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions for five body lengths, roll to back and float, then roll to front and swim an additional five body lengths.Level 4 - Stroke Improvement: Are able to swim front stroke for 15 yards, roll to back and swim elementary backstroke an additional 15 yards.Level 5 - Stroke Refinement: Are able to swim all four swim strokes 15-25 yards each.Level 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency: Are able to swim all strokes, approximately for 25-50 yards using formal turns and switching body position.Adult Lessons (Ages 18 & up)Lessons available from beginners to competitors. Inclement weather conditions at the North County Aquatic Center and the Gifford Aquatic Center may result in the temporary closing of the pool at Management’s discretion. This policy is in place for the safety and well being of swimmers and the facility. In the event of an electrical storm, patrons will be notified by the Thorguard lightning prediction system. The system will sound one loud air horn for 15 seconds when a storm is approaching. Patrons will be required to leave the facility immediately. The system will sound three, 5 second air horn blasts when the area is clear of the electrical storm and it is safe to resume activities. We will issue pool passes to patrons who have been at the facility less than two hours if the facility is closed for weather conditions. Patrons must have a receipt to receive a pool pass.

The American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard Program is a two‑week class introducing lifeguarding skills to students, ages 10‑14. • Swim Lessons are available on a year-round basis at GAC. In 2016-2017, we conducted 176 swim lessons for kids and adults. Group and Private Lessons are available. Scholarships are also available for swim lessons for people that qualify.

The 6th Annual Mommy Son Dance will bring mothers and sons together for an elegant night of entertainment on May 19, 2018. Mommy Son Dance

“WATER EGG HUNT” On March 26 at 6:30 p.m., the North County will have a “Water” Egg Hunt at the North County Aquatic Center, (one

and one-half miles east of I-95 on County Road 512). The children’s swimming area will be covered in plastic Easter Eggs that will float on the water’s surface for the children to “scoop up.” Please remember to bring your swimsuits and towels! And Please, No Plastic Bags!!

INDOOR “FLASHLIGHT” EGG HUNT Bring your flashlight to the Gifford Youth Activity Center (GYAC) for a “Flashlight” Egg

Hunt on March 27 at 7:45 p.m. The lights in the gym of the GYAC will be turned off and the flashlights will be turned on during this very special egg hunt. Please remember to bring a flashlight and a basket for this hunt!

OUTDOOR “FLASHLIGHT” EGG HUNT “Egg” Stravaganza Bring your flashlights because on March 29 at 7:30 p.m., South County Park will

be the host site for the County’s “Outdoor Flashlight Egg Hunt”! That’s right...the egg hunt will be held in the dark! This promises to be the most unique and largest egg hunt on the Treasure Coast. The “Egg” stravaganza will start at sunset and prizes will be awarded to all participants. Golden Eggs and special Easter Baskets will be given in all age groups.
