Pupils should clean hands upon arrival to school, return from break, between room changes and before and after eating All staff and pupils are instructed to observe good respiratory hygiene following “catch it, bin it, kill it” All staff and pupils instructed to minimise contact between individuals and maintain social distancing wherever possible All staff and students are asked to wear a face covering in communal areas such as corridors, staircases and dining facilities where social distancing cannot be fully maintained. If local lockdown restrictions are imposed, this will become mandatory. In practical terms on site, we will ask staff and students to use hand sanitiser as they leave a classroom or office prior to adorning their face covering, then again just after they have removed and stored it as they enter a different classroom or office. Where necessary, appropriate PPE will be worn The school will engage with the NHS Test and Trace process The school will manage confirmed cases of coronavirus amongst the school community by containing any outbreak and by following local health protection team advice Staff and pupils are encouraged to walk or cycle to school All staff are competent and instructed with regard to the procedures in place for the protection against infection from the virus. Staff health is known and is monitored and updated daily via cover list to enable

deployment to be planned.

SLT lead /Social Inclusion responsibility to link with parent carers of vulnerable pupils with clear guidance and this is reinforced on a regular basis.

Support from external agencies will be sought where necessary. In-house support from the Staff Wellbeing Team will be provided Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy active Parent/ carers asked to make the school aware of pupils underlying health conditions and the school to ensure that the appropriate guidance has been acted upon. Due to the rapidly changing advice on Covid-19, managers should ensure they review safe working procedures and protocols daily, until such time when it is deemed unnecessary. There is an adequate supply of disposable PPE, as per specific task requirements, and all staff provided with instruction in the correct use and fitment:

who are unable to attend in line with Public Health advice because they are self-

isolating and have had symptoms or a positive test result themselves will be reflected

within the Policy.

Contractors

School biometrics and touchscreen entry control systems are disabled during the Covid-19 pandemic: Fire Risk Assessment, Fire Evacuation Procedures, Security, Violence and Lone Working risk assessments updated accordingly. Regular tannoy announcements to remind all on site to socially distance and wash hands Hand sanitizer stations located at the entrances to the building. Signage installed to various areas of the building reminding people to wash hands regularly, in line with Government guidance and to maintain social distance. Corridors, walkways and staircases have tape arrow markings laid out to indicate side to walk on. One way systems will be in place where feasible. Where a one way system is not in place, staff and pupils are requested to keep close to the side of the corridor or walkway to maximise social distancing while others are using the opposite side. Classrooms have been laid out (with marking tape) so that 1m social distancing between pupil desks can be achieved with the addition of 2m social distancing from teacher desks All desks face the same direction i.e. front of the classroom.

Pupils will then be kept in their ‘bubbles’ and should not mix with other groups during the day

Workshops and science labs layouts should follow the same layout considerations as general classrooms when they are brought back into use. All classes are to take place in the same zone wherever possible to limit the numbers moving around the school.

Timetables revised where possible to reduce movement around the school premises and to stagger busy transitional periods between classes. Dining facilities will be zoned to particular groups with markings to ensure 1m distancing Tape marking applied to dining room to indicate social distancing in the line for school dinners. Dining room tables and chairs will be wiped down between sittings

Soft furnishings, soft toys and toys that are hard to clean (such as those with intricate parts) are removed from classrooms and stored elsewhere.

All unnecessary items are removed from classrooms and teaching environments as much as possible. Posters in corridors regarding social distancing. Appropriate signage is in place to clarify circulation routes. Pinch points and bottlenecks are identified and managed accordingly. Pupils/ parent/ carers regularly briefed regarding standards and expectations re observing social distancing guidance. Only parents who have made a pre-arranged appointment, will be allowed on site

Appropriate duty rota and levels of supervision are in place.

Risk assessment in place for children who require support under EHCP where social distancing cannot be implemented e.g. LSA pushing wheelchair.

Designated pupil groups (bubbles) stay together do not mix with other pupils. School start times for different years are staggered to reduce the numbers attending the site at the start and finish of the day. Parents are requested to drop their children off alone i.e. not both parents attending at once. Parents are requested not to gather at entrance gates or doors, or enter the site (unless they have a pre-arranged appointment) once their children have entered the school. Break times (including lunch) staggered for classes to minimise mixing and dilute numbers using common areas such as walkways and toilets. Numbers using toilets will be managed in line with social distancing guidelines. Toilets will be assigned to zones. Only 1 pupil at a time permitted to go to the toilet. Toilet areas will become a supervision point for staff throughout the day. High risk activities to be banned to limit the number of accidents and requirements for first aid

9 Covid-19 virus; Managing medical concerns

Social distancing provisions are in place for medical rooms. Guidelines confirm mask, gloves, apron if contact has to be made with pupil for minor injury or domestic and personal assistance. Staff advised not to touch children unless absolutely necessary. IF COVID-19 IS SUSPECTED PUPIL (OR STAFF) MUST BE REMOVED FROM THAT AREA AND PUT IN SPECIFIC SEGREGATED AREA. ROOM MUST BE CLEARED OF ALL OTHER PUPILS/STAFF AND DEEP CLEANED. CORRECT PROCEDURES RE CONTACTING EMERGENCY SERVICES AND PARENT/CARER MUST BE INSTIGATED Additional room designated for pupils with suspected COVID-19 whilst collection is arranged. Procedures are in place for medical rooms to be cleaned after any use with extra care and closure for 3 days if suspected COVID-19 case, along with other affected areas, including toilets. Staff responsible for distribution of medicines etc to ensure all up to date and agree method of distribution with parent/ carer and pupil.

Social distancing guidelines are reinforced at entrances and exits through signage and floor/ground markings, including external drop-off and pick-up points. Regular messages to parents stress the need for social distancing at arrival and departure times. High staff presence at gates and joining local roads

12 Covid-19 virus; Travel to and from school

A survey of how some pupils will travel to and from school is underway

Taxi, home learning and telephone support established where a child is unable to

attend school due to transport issue.

Guidance is in place for pupils and parents/ carers on how social distancing can be

observed on public and school transport. This includes advice on the use of face

coverings if pupils are travelling with children other than from their own class.

Guidance in place for pupils and parent/carers on how to enter and exit buses whilst

complying with social distancing.

Discussions to be held with the relevant public transport authority and with bus

companies on how social distancing measures will be applied.

Staff car sharing is not recommended in line with Government guidelines on social

distancing

Where possible, cleaners will work split shifts over the time site accessible and into smaller non-overlapping groups to minimise social contact – if some operatives have virus contact then other shifts will be able to carry on. Each mini-shift to have a deputy supervisor or chargehand in charge under contact from Supervisor and Manager (by phone whenever possible)

Cleaners on site throughout the school day will ensure touched items such as door handles, handrails etc. will be regularly wiped down and cleaned. Cleaners will clean bins regularly throughout the day Classrooms where a pupil or staff member has become symptomatic during the school day will be secured and deep cleaned along with areas the person may have been. Site manager to complete a daily site survey. A system for reporting maintenance issues is in place.
