Trinity Epistle

Trinity Lutheran Church March 2018

In March we will close out the Lenten journey. No

doubt it is going to be a busy month. It is my hope and

prayer that you will take full advantage of the

opportunities this month of all the worship and ministry

opportunities in our build up to Easter. Of course that

is my hope! In our Lenten services we are reminded

that Jesus prayed “Not as I will, but as you will.”

We know God’s will is always good and always

gracious in our lives. Even in a season that has seen

so many challenges. Many of our brothers and sisters

have been battling season illnesses, disease and we

have even had an increase of funerals at the

beginning of 2018. In the midst of all these things we

make our petitions to our Lord for a better life. We

prayer for healing, we pray for those grieving and we

pray for those who continue to suffer.

We make these prayers because we know that God’s will is ultimately going to be

accomplished. God’s good and gracious will is filled with life. God’s will is filled with promises

that were delivered by Jesus who went to the cross to give us this new life. The month of

March is the build up to our celebration of Easter life. I look forward to being with you for the

remainder of the Lenten Journey.

Pastor Hesse

Hearts for Trinity Dinner… WHAT A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS What a fantastic evening highlighting the blessings of 70 years of ministry to God’s precious children and their

families that also helped to fund the future of this ministry! We are very thankful to Rev. Dr. Jerry Kieschnick, who shared with us the importance of receiving a Christian education in his life, and the impact we all can have on the Ruth Stelzer Memorial Endowment Fund that will impact young lives for generations to come. Special “thank you’s” go out to Charessa Koontz, Mrs. Gray, the Board of Christian Education, all the teachers, and those who volunteered their time to help with decorations, the silent auction, set-up, and clean-up! Your help is greatly appreciated and made this event such a huge success! We truly are thankful for all the individuals and families who came together and shared Tiger memories and gave generously to this effort and to the mission and ministry at Trinity Lutheran Christian School. School families, congregational families, community leaders, and alumni all shared in the festivities that helped to make this event another huge success. What a blessing for our entire church, school, and child development center ministries to share and build such wonderful, growing relationships together! The future of this ministry that shares the Good News of Jesus with God’s precious children each day looks bright! Final totals for the evening are not complete yet, but they will be available soon! Thank you again for the support going to special projects and school scholarships needs. We are very blessed and grateful!

BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION UPDATE: The board would like to thank our staff for all their hard work and commitment in

making our Hearts for Trinity Dinner and Auction Celebration a huge success. This event would not be the success it is without your commitment and willingness to help. Thank you also for all the congregational support and commitment shown at this event once again! Your support and commitment to the mission of our school is such a blessing!

Our focus now is on getting ready for enrollment opportunities for next year. The fee schedule has been approved and will be part of this process. Please share with all your friends the opportunities we have for enrollment next year in all grade levels and that incentives are in place until May 31st.

The board met with the Board of Child Care Services on the Woodlands campus and had a very positive and productive meeting as it prepares for future ministry opportunities starting next year.

Our strategic planning process continues to include looking at program needs and staffing, enrollment, special projects to help with school improvements to the facility, and expanding our five-year plan.

We have unveiled a new commercial that will be airing soon sharing the school ministry story to the Amarillo community. A longer segment will be shared soon that will highlight our 70th anniversary and help create more visibility in our community as we continue our enrollment process for next year.

Child Development Centers Trinity Lutheran Church Child Development Center enrollment – 147 Trinity Lutheran Church Woodlands Child Development Center enrollment – 98 The education and childcare boards met together on Feb 1st and agreed on launching 2 sessions of Pre-K 4 classes at Woodlands in the fall. Some room changes and renovations will need to be completed this summer to accommodate the new program. Woodlands Assistant Director has completed the director’s certification class. The final licensing inspection was conducted for the Woodlands and they have received their full permit.

A BEND IN THE ROAD

Approximately two years ago, those of us who were members of the former Christ Lutheran Church were faced with some difficult and heartfelt decisions as to the future of our ministry. A congregation that had served His people for 62 years is a beloved church home for many families and individuals. We knew it was God’s church and He had a plan for us, but, in a way it felt like “the end of the road”, so to speak, for Christ Lutheran. However, we can plainly see today, it was not the end at all, but rather a new direction. There will be some challenging and exciting times ahead as we plan a relaunch of Trinity Lutheran Church, Woodlands, but it is still God’s plan going forward. I would like to close with this poem that was sent to me 20 years ago when I retired from a 31 year career.

LADIES DAY GUILD Trinity Lutheran Ladies Day Guild meeting will be on March 6th, 2018 at 1 PM in the Parlor. {lease bring something old that means something to you.
