Getting the Latest Management Pack and Documentation You can find the Green House Data RightFax Management Pack at https://www.greenhousedata.com/software Known Issues in this Release
There are no known issues with the Green House Data RightFax Management Pack.
The current release v1.0.0.127 is addressing some issues, not related to the
Management Pack itself, where performance counters collection and
monitoring via SNMP were not available, and as they required some RightFax
modules licensed and working. To overcome this limitation, version 1.0.0.127
is providing (in addition to SNMP) another method of collecting and

monitoring RightFax statistics (performance counters), making use of RightFax
COM API library.
Supported Configurations
The Green House Data RightFax Management Pack is designed and tested to work with:
- System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2, 2016;
- Open Text RightFax 10.5 or 10.6
Files in This Management Pack
The Green House Data RightFax Management Pack consists of the following files:

Before Importing the Management Pack Configure Agent Proxy
IMPORTANT STEP. Enable Agent proxy on all SCOM agents deployed on RightFaxservers.
Create a New Management Pack for Customizations
The Green House Data RightFax Management Pack is sealed. None of the
original settings in the management pack file can be changed. However,
customizations, such as overrides or new monitoring objects, may be created
by saving them to a different management pack (suggested MP name:
Infront.RightFax.Overrides)
SNMP Service Configuration on SCOM Management Servers
There is NO need to install and configure SNMP Service feature on SCOM
Management Servers.

For SNMP Service configuration of the RightFax Server(s) please follow the
OpenText RightFax Installation and Administration guides.
Import the Green House Data EMC Isilon Management Pack
Execute the Management Pack Installer and then follow the normal procedure to import the Green House Data RightFax Management Pack.
After importing the Management Pack Licensing the Management Pack In this version of the Management Pack there is a new console task available from the Windows Computers view to be executed.
- Overwrite it with the number of target license to be used
- The task output will show you the location of the request license file.

- Send us this file to provide the License Key and follow these steps:
1. In the SCOM OpsMgr Console, click on the Authoring tab
2. Select Scope and enter RightFax Common in the “Look for:”
3. Select the discovery

4. Override for all objects of class: RightFax Common (Seed)
5. Enter the license key and save the override in
Infront.RightFax.Overrides MP (suggested).
6. To add the required Registry keys, depending in the version you are running 32 or 64 bits, to specify which servers will be considering for monitoring. Just run the new task from the Windows Computer View. This task will create the following registry keys according to your 32 or 64 bits RightFax installation. This is only setting to define if you are using NT Authentication or RightFax Authentication.

Add the SNMP Community String Account (Optional, if SNMP is used)
1. In the SCOM Console, click on the Administration tab
2. Create a Community String account to be used by the Management
Pack SNMP workflows (example below)
Note. Credentials must match the accepted community name in the
configuration (Security tab) of the SNMP service that is running on the
RightFax servers.

3. Make sure you distribute the account to the Health Service on
the Management Servers.
4. Add the account to the Run As Profile
Click on “Profiles” under “Run as Configuration” and locate the SNMP
Monitoring Account. Configure it as in the screenshot below:

RFCOMAPI Account Run as Profile. Configure it as in the screenshot

Create override for a specific object of class “RightFax Common”; select the
server(s) that are needed to be excluded.
Select Action parameter and change the override value to Exclude
Save the setting in the overrides MP.
How to Configure Synthetic Transactions
There are 2 monitors that provide this functionality:
1. RightFax Send Test Fax Monitor:

This monitor checks the status of sending and receiving Test Faxes internally using RightFax engine.
a. Navigate to the RightFax Server view
b. Then open the Health Explorer of the desire server you wanted to activate this monitor.
c. Select the monitor for sending faxes internally
d. Open the monitor properties and select the following parameters:
- Enabled: True
- Count Limit: Is the number of tries to process each fax included in the

Test. The default value is 10
- Fax Send Timeout: Is the milliseconds before cancel sending each fax
Included in the test. The default value is 5000
- Fax Received Timeout: Is the milliseconds before cancel waiting for the receipt
of each fax sent included in the test. The default value is 15000
- Fax to Number: Is the RightFax Routing code to use for sending the faxes
To include in the test. This must be a defined Routing Code, like in this sample is 102.
- Fax To User: Is the User Name that will send to fax included in the Test. This can be any given Internal User Name, like in This sample is BILL. (Note this value is case sensitive as is Defined in RightFax
- Interval Seconds: Amount of seconds to wait between each state Evaluation. The default value is 300. Note that this value Is the maximum time that the overall monitor will use to Complete all the tests, so if you set to fax send timeout For 5 seconds with 10 count limit and 15 seconds to receive it, the total time spend in this must not be higher than the interval seconds.

e. Save these new values in an override MP and wait for the updated settings to be applied.
f. Note that you don’t need to specify any credentials for this monitor, because it will use the already configured credentials obtained from the corresponding run as account used in this management pack. (See section for configuring them)
g. When the monitor executes will create a temporary folder "C:\TestFaxes\" and file "TestFax.txt" attachment that will be used during the transaction. Note this file will be deleted after its usage and recreated back again with every execution.
h. Some events are logged in the Operations Manager log, every time this monitor is executed, with event Id 18080, which will show you the progress or any possible issue during the execution.
2. RightFax Send External Test Fax Monitor:
This monitor checks the status of sending and receiving Test Faxes externally using RightFax engine.
i. Navigate to the RightFax Server view

To provide support for OMS, you need to import first all the different references Management Packs for OMS:
- Microsoft.IntelligencePack.Core.mpb - Microsoft.IntelligencePacks.Performance.mpb
Then after configuring all the channel communication configurations you will import the following MP, that is part of this msi:
- Infront.RightFax.OMS.mp
After a while, at least 1 hour, you will start to see the data coming to OMS. Here is a sample of dashboard built in OMS:

RightFax Installation and MP Configuration, Sample Scenario
The sample scenario provided below is provided to outline the basics of Installing RightFax
10.6 Server and then discovering it in SCOM. This scenario below is for a single vanilla RightFax
10.6 Server that does not use NT Authentication and is reporting into SCOM.
Additionally, the following environment items are assumed:
1. The RightFax Server is joined to a domain
2. There is a single Domain Service Account for RightFax called DOMAIN\svc_rfax
3. The DOMAIN\svc_rfax Service Account is a member
of the Local Administrators Group on the RightFax
Server
4. The Password for the DOMAIN\svc_rfax Service Account is: P@ssw0rd
5. UAC is disabled on the RightFax Server
6. Windows Firewall Service is disabled on the RightFax Server
7. IE ESC is disabled on the RightFax Server
8. .NET 3.5 is installed
9. IIS is installed with the following additional components
• Enable Basic Authentication
• Enable Windows Authentication
• Enable IIS 6 Management Compatibility
Install SQL Server 2012 These instructions assume that you have access to at least SQL Server 2012
Standard. Below are basic instructions on how to install and configure SQL
Server 2012 Standard for RightFax.
1. Launch the setup.exe for the SQL Server 2012 binaries.
2. In the SQL Server Installation Center click on Installation
and then choose New SQL Server stand-alone installation
or add features to an existing installation. 3. The SQL Server 2012 Setup will start with Setup Support Rules,
click on OK.
4. Enter the product key or use the Evaluation on the Product Key Page and click Next.
5. Put a check mark next to I accept the license terms on the License Terms Page
and click Next.
6. On the Product Updates Page the installer will attempt to check
for SQL Updates (which requires internet access). Regardless of
this succeeding or not, click Next.
7. On the Install Setup Files Page, setup files will be installed and
the installer will continue automatically.
8. On the Setup Support Rules Page, the setup checks will run

automatically, if there are no Failed items, click Next.
9. On the Setup Role Page, choose SQL Server Feature Installation and click Next.
10. On the Feature Selection Page, leave the default path of where
to install Shared Feature directories and choose the features to
install as shown in the Image below. Afterwards, click Next.
11. On the Instance Configuration Page, leave the default values in
place and click Next.
12. On the Disk Requirements Page, click Next.
13. On the Server Configuration Page, use the DOMAIN\svc_rfax
account credentials for the SQL Services shown in the image
below. Make sure all the services have the Startup Type set to
Automatic. Afterwards, click Next.
14. On the Database Engine Configuration Page, make sure to click

on Add Current User and then add the DOMAIN\svc_rfax service
account. Afterwards, click Next.
15. On the Analysis Services Configuration Page, make sure to
click on Add Current User and then add the DOMAIN\svc_rfax

16. On the Reporting Services Configuration Page, Choose Install and Configure
under Reporting Services Native Mode and click Next.
17. On the Error Reporting Page, ignore the option(s) available and click Next.
18. On the Installation Configuration Rules Page, unless a
Failed item appears, click Next.
19. On the Ready to Install Page, click Install.
20. Hurry up and wait as shown below
21. Once the installation is finished, verify that all of the SQL Services are running
Install RightFax 10.6 The instructions below are only for RightFax 10.6 and may not work for
previous version of RightFax.
1. After mounting the RightFax ISO or extracting the binaries,
launch the setup.exe as shown in the image below. You must
use the one selected in the image below or else the installation
will not run!

2. On the RightFax Product Suite Setup Page, click Next.
3. On the next page, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
4. Choose Typical RightFax Server and Include fax board and
FOIP drivers and click Next.

6. Choose Install Microsoft Message Queuing and click Next.
7. Choose Use an existing SQL Server and click Next.
8. Keep the default values for the Reserved TCP/IP Ports and click Next.

9. On the following page, click on Apply. The RightFax prerequisites will
then be installed.
10. When the ready to install page appears, click Next.
11. Keep the defaults on the Select the RightFax installation folder page and click Next.

13. On the Ready to configure page, click Next.
14. On the Select the Windows account for RightFax services page,
type in the credentials for the DOMAIN\svc_rfax service account and
click Next.

15. On the Select the configuration mode for this server page,
choose Create New RightFax Database and click Next.
16. On the Define a SQL connection for Setup page, type in the
Hostname of the RightFax Server and click Next.

18. On the Define a SQL connection for RightFax services page, leave
the default values and click Next.
19. On the RightFax Activation page, click on Launch License Utility.

20. On the Introduction page, click on Activate.
21. On the RightFax Activation page, type in the Email Address and SUID
values or choose Evaluation License. Once those values are in place,
click on Activate. Note: Activation requires Internet Access

License, you have 30 days to obtain a permanent license.
23. On the RightFax License Summary page, click Close.
24. Back on the RightFax Product Suite Setup, click on Apply. The
installation will then continue.
25. Once the RightFax Setup is complete, click on Restart Now. The
RightFax Server will then restart.
26. Once the RightFax Server comes back online, mount the RightFax ISO
or extracting the binaries, launch the setup.exe as shown in the image
below. You must use the one selected in the image below or else the
installation will not run!

27. On the RightFax Product Suite Setup Page, choose Add or remove
features and click Next.
28. On the Select features page, make sure to put a check mark next
to the following features, and click Next.

• RightFax Print Driver (except RightFax eDOCS)
• RightFax AutoReply
29. On the Preview requirements for selected features page, click Next.
30. On the Remote RightFax services must be shutdown page, select I
have shut down all remote RightFax services and click Next. (you
can ignore the fact that you have not shutdown all the RightFax
services.)
31. On the Applications and Services page, click Next.
32. On the Apply Settings page, click Apply. Some of the options you
selected earlier will be installed.
33. On the Ready to install page, click Next.
34. On the Apply Settings page, click Apply. Some of the options you
selected earlier will be installed.
35. On the Ready to configure page, click on Next.
36. On the Configure Web Applications page, take the defaults and click Next.
37. On the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) page, click Next.

39. Once the RightFax Setup is complete, click on Restart Now. The
RightFax Server will then restart.
40. Login to the RightFax Server and then verify that all of the RightFax Services are running.

Run Discovery of RightFax Server in SCOM
1. Login to SCOM, click on Administration, right-click on any item in
Administration Pane on the left hand side and click on Discovery Wizard… 2. Under Discovery Type, make sure Windows computers is selected and click
Next.
3. Click on Advanced Discovery and leave the Verify discovered computers
can be detected option unchecked.

4. Choose the option, Browse for, or type-in computer names and type in
the name of the RightFax Server and click Next.
5. Leave the option Use selected Management Server Action Account as is

8. The Agent Installation should finish in a few minutes. 9. Once the Host is reporting into SCOM make sure to Enable the Allow this agent
to act as a proxy and discover managed objects on other computers option under the Agent Managed section under Administration.
For the new RightFax Server to be picked up and start populating data into the
RightFax Views in SCOM could take some time depending on the size of your
environment.

Change Use NT Authentication Parameter for Performance Rules to “Yes” By default, all of the Performance Collection Rules for the Management Pack are
NOT going to use NT Authentication in order to retrieve the Performance Data from
the RightFax Server.
You MUST execute the “Deploy Infront RightFax MP SCOM Keys” from windows
computer view, override this task with “Enable NT Authentication” parameter with
“yes” to enabled NT Authentication and set the run as account with the
Windows NT credentials in SCOM, or leave it with “no”. This value will be
updated in the next discovery execution.
In RightFax you should be already set the Enable NT Authentication and Link
using the RightFax Enterprise Fax Manager Console.
Additionally, the ADMINISTRATOR password in RightFax by default is blank.
To use RightFax credentials in SCOM, you MUST ADD AS PASSWORD, otherwise this credential could not be created in SCOM.
Because we have not enabled this feature, we need to disable it for the following
RightFax Performance Collection Rules:
- RightFax Number of server events processed Collection Rule
- RightFax Number of pages received Collection Rule
- RightFax Queue Depth (pages) Collection Rule
- RightFax Documents queued for transmission Collection Rule
- RightFax Status records queued for transmission Collection Rule
- RightFax Queue Depth (faxes) Collection Rule
- RightFax Number of faxes received Collection Rule
