An unexpected and tragic death of a wonderful soul who dedicated her life in doing good and helping those in need, A mother figure to her students and a sister to her colleagues, Not only the school is in shock but the community as well.
It would never be a dull moment whenever she is around, even though we live in a bitter cruel world she would al-
ways show you the bright side of things, respect and kindness was her language. She had a positive influence on her
kids and treated students as her own.
Her memorial service was on the 30th May and she was put in her final resting place on the 2nd June, she will be dearly missed and we shall never forget you and all you did for us as students, teachers and the rest of the school staff.

schools that were there, we as the school are very proud of her and we are grateful to her for show-

Science students from Dimbaza will no longer rely on their imaginations when doing experiments as the UWC has sponsored Richard varha high school with a new science lab which will not only benefit Richard varha high school but neighbouring schools too. With 1200 grades 8 to 12 learners Richard varha high school has been ranked as one of the top performing schools in the Eastern Cape Province in science. Under the careful supervision of the school principal Mr.S.Adonis(middle) the science lab will help neighbouring schools with their science practical’s thus this will help bring the schools together and this will guarantee a much high-
er pass rate for Dimbaza schools and could increase the pass rate of Grade 12’s in the Eastern Cape province.

This all started on the 24th of August 2018. This young scientist, Misokuhle Vanda set out to compete
with other scientist from other schools in the hole of the East London district. This was the fairest and most
broad competition. His project was about an electric sock that will improve our society. He introduced this
sock as the ELECTRONIC WINTER HEAT.
His goal is to limit the sicknesses like colds and flu as well as other diseases. As we all know that the feet are
the first to get cold in a humans body. By doing this he is improving our environment, some people would not
see the need but when the cold weather strikes you will find it useful. We are so proud of our fellow mate and
this has encouraged us to want to be an achiever like him, we all look up to him.
He is one of many top achievers even in his school work, he is part of our leadership body at school. He has
inspired us a lot. He won silver in the competition and got selected in the top 7 to compete in nationals which
will be held in Pretoria

At Richard Varha High School, learners are appreciated
and motivated to perform exceptionally in their
Studies and extra-mural activities.
The White Blazer was introduced. The first student who
were awarded with this blazer was Sinesihle Vuma , who
performed a solo soprano at a provincial level, she also
has a scroll of being a prefect, she is not only talented,
She also has the brains.
This blazer motivated other learners to perform
exceptionally in their extra-mural activities. It showed
them that there is a reward for everything you do.
"I felt important and special, because all my hard work
was appreciated." said Sinesihle. "Sinesihle is a hard
worker.

On the 30th of August we were requested to participate in a national science week, this itself ex-
plains what this week was about. The Science Week was all about science we got a chance to par-
ticipate in activities like math and science quiz, Lego robotics, bridge building, science posters, sci-
ence projects and science debate. The science week theme; deepening our democracy through sci-
ence, was exciting to all the children that participated. Schools namely: West Bank High School,
Xolani High School, Bisho High School etc. There were different activities. Here`s some reviews on
how we took part in the national science. This program is for young scientist and this is what they
said "When I first got there I felt so scared and excited, at the same time confident, when I first ar-
rived because there were a lot of schools. When presenting my research, my fact ,I felt good like I
was moving seas, matter of fact like I would touch the sky. When I came out of the room I felt confi-
dent and knew I did my best. Here is another review from a student who did a different activity ,the
science poster .She is one of three students of her group ."I was shivering and scared but as time
felt cool and ,I relaxed as I saw other students, I adapted to it."

On the 31of August to the 02 September 2018, Richard Varha students attended a writing
camp where their creativity and writing skills were improved.
It has been effective in more ways than one. Learners whom attended the camp have shown
great leadership skills. They have been writing poems and helping others unlock their poten-
tials. This has changed plenty of student’s attitudes towards writing.
“I enjoyed the camp. I enjoyed all the educational and fun activities, also I enjoyed meeting
new people, who are as creative as me” said Liyema Booi, one of the
students who attended the camp. “The activities we participated in helped us mentally. We
gained more knowledge. We had chance to put our knowledge to use
on something beneficial to us” said Bianca Echefu.
Richard Varha is not only a school of brilliant minds. It is a school of writers and poets.
