Beverages . . . Soups, milk, tea or coffee in moderation, but preferably between meals.

Meat Any lean meat or fish, poultry, tripe, rabbit. Eat a small quantity only and satisfy the appetite with other suitable foods.

Vegetables . . . Tomatoes, green beans, cauliflower, cabbage, marrow, asparagus, silver beet.

Fruit Eat freely lemons, grapefruit, melons and all citrus fruits.^ (Avoid berry fruits—straw-berries, loganberries, etc.)

Condiments . . Salt and pepper, mustard, vinegar and sauces in strict moderation.

Use sparingly . Sugar, butter, potatoes and bread. Avoid Alcoholic beverages, f rui t syrups and cordials.

Cream, oil and fats. Sauces and gravy. Porridge, rice, sago, plum puddings. PRESCRIBED DOSAGE

Follow the diet as closely as possible, eat and drink plain simple foods. Reduce gradually. Take one Rhu Pill af ter the mid-day meal and one again on retiring at night. Study the laxative effect, and if too severe reduce the dose. However, if no inconvenience is caused, take two pills daily.

When weight has been reduced sufficiently, take Rhu Pills a t regular intervals each week to avoid any increase in your weight.

Every morning on rising drink juice of half lemon in cup of hot water. The above menus are suggested as a guide only. Meals along these general lines will ensure that you get the necessary calories and

vitamins.

• THE RHU DIET TO RELIEVE RHEUMATISM, BACKACHE AND KIDNEY TROUBLES, MUSCULAR AND JOINT PAINS, AND EXCESS OP URIC ACID.

Make up your meals from these foods; SOUPS - - - Thick soups—vegetables or barley broth. FISH - - - - Plenty of fresh fish (boiled or steamed is

best).

MEAT - - - Poultry, tripe, bacon, white meats.

VEGETABLES - Fresh _ green vegetables—spinach, cabbage, turnips, onions and celery are particularly good.

FRUIT - - - Eat plenty of fresh or stewed fruit, such as apples, pears, lemons, oranges, bananas. Avoid acid or stone fruits.

Stale bread, toast, porridge, grain foods, rice, sago.

Eggs, butter, cream, salad dressing, junket. Drink plenty of water, milk, milk drinks, cocoa

or weak tea. If possible avoid drinking with meals.

Avoid these foods; RED MEAT - - Butchers' meat should be avoided as much as

possible. Use red meat sparingly, if at all. NEW BREAD - Never eat new bread, cakes or pastry. POTATOES - - Use sparingly, if at all. GENERAL - - Never eat highly spiced dishes and avoid acid

varieties of fruit. Remember! Don't drink at all with meals, and

no alcohol at any time. In general, take every care to keep warm and

take gentle exercise, such as walking, daily.
