Rock Springs High School Renaissance Program Presented by: Debbie Petrie- Bullock & Thomas Jassman Agenda Mission RSHS Traditional Renaissance Style Purpose and Goal(s) Student Focused Future Goals For Students For Teachers and Support Staff Mission Promote a positive school culture for a healthy learning environment and improve communication within Rock Springs High School and its community. Traditional Style Wall Decorations (Student of the Week) Student Motivational Parking Spots Billboards More Billboards Theme Oriented Rallies Table Surfing Competition Traditional Style Continued Commitment to Graduate Gowns RSHS Gymnasium flooring Key Chains Food Coupons Meet and greet for upcoming freshman Beginning of school welcome back rally Thinking outside of the box How can we get as many students recognized as possible? How can we incorporate other stakeholders? Purpose & Goals Continue to recognize positive student academic and behavioral performances. To increase the total number of students recognized! Start to recognize teachers and support staff for all of their efforts to improve student achievement. Rally Delegated T-Shirts How did RSHS Increase Student Recognition? Community Involvement (Dr. Suess day) Entire Student Body Engaged Rallies 1 st quarter GPA Class Challenge Attendance competition Student interview process 3 rd quarter GPA Challenge (class or individual) Recognize Renaissance as a true school sponsored activity Banquet Handbook Accountability Rallies that involve local community services (Goggles) Dr. Suess Youth Reading Day Entire Student Body Rallies ESBRs Continued Staff Involved Rallies *Changing of the Guard! Renaissance Movie Challenge Unloading the Bus to the Movies! Bus Unloading Cont. Students at Movie Concessions Summary of Movie Incentive There were seven selections of the most recent and popular releases. We bused the students to and from the school and theatre. Students were faculty excused. Freshman CCR teachers were honored for the 1 st quarter attendance/GPA challenge as well. Senior CCR teachers were allowed to go for the 3 rd quarter GPA challenge. Criteria was 2.8 or higher per class or Any student who had a 3.0 for the previous quarter We have honored over 750 students this year through Renaissance movie days during school. Goals & Next Steps Continued increase of school and local community commitment towards a growing renaissance school! Recognize more stakeholders especially teachers and support staff. Teacher and Support Staff Incentives Attendance rewards Movie Passes Teacher years of service recognition at rallies Food incentive Coffee incentive White Water Rafting Important Educational Viewpoint People dont care how much you know until they know how much you care.
