1 Sunday, 1 st August 2021 Dear Friends, I hope everyone is doing well. What a week of weather. We haven’t stayed up too much but definitely have enjoyed some early morning Olympics. The passion, commitment and friendly rivalry is extraordinary and so inspiring. Our grandchildren had their first camping holiday. They went caving to stay warm and dry. The nursery in Tokyo is struggling a little to understand ‘baby led weaning’. A drawing of a baby holding a clump of broccoli didn’t help so much! The world is changing. At the moment it’s changing rather fast and can be confusing. The Olympics are wonderful but where are the crowds. Cricket followers are getting used to the ‘hundred’. We know that COVID restrictions have been removed, but we each need to decide what to do to remain safe. We want to be able to travel abroad again on holiday and to visit our families, but don’t know when it will be possible. Then there’s climate change and new technology. A PRAYER WE SAY AT COMPLINE Be present, O merciful God, and protect us, so that we, who are wearied by the changes and chances of this fleeting world, may repose upon thy eternal changelessness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Godisunchanging.Godcreatedthiswonderfulworldandthenmadeusinhisownimage.HecametousinJesussothatwecouldknowhimpersonally.Godlovesusandhaspromisedtobewithuswhenwearehappyandwhenwearesad,tobeourguideinlifeandtobringussafelytoheaven.Godisunchangingbuttheworldinwhichweliveischangingratherfast.Christiansarecalledtoproclaimtheirfaithafreshtoeachgeneration.

Oh,howsweetthegloriousmessagesimplefaithmayclaim:Yesterday,today,forever,Jesusisthesame;

StillHelovestosavethesinful,healthesickandlameCheerthemourner,stillthetempestglorytoHisname!

Judyhasmadethesamebirthdaycakeyearafteryearforeachofourchildrenandnowisdoingthesameforourgrandchildren.Abasicchocolatecakewithhugeamountsofchocolateicing,coveredinchocolatedropsandsmartiesinvaryingdesignsdoesthejob.Thecakessheismakingforourgrandchildrenaredifferentfromthoseshemadeforourchildren.Ourdaughterwanteda‘CareBearcake’,ourgranddaughteraunicorncake.OursonaskedforaThomastheTankEngineandourgrandsonadinosaurcake.Thesamebasicchocolatecakepresentedindifferentwaysforeachnewgeneration!
