RETREAT PROGRAMME

Friday 22—Sunday 24 April: Individually Guided Retreat An opportunity to take time away from the rush of everyday life, to pause and reflect. You will meet daily with an experienced prayer guide, and apart from these meetings and the daily service the retreat will be in silence with opportunities for your individual reflection, times of prayer and walking or other relaxation. Cost £150 including accommodation and all meals.

Monday 16—Friday 20 May: CARM Painting & Prayer A retreat organised by the Creative Arts Retreat Movement (CARM), led by illustrator Martin Cottam and Revd Michael Campling. CARM retreats combine experience of creative art with opportunities to deepen your spiritual life. Each day begins and ends with worship, and there is opportunity to seek spiritual counsel, alongside one-to-one assistance with your artwork and plenty of free time for painting and reflection. Beginners and more experienced artists are all welcome. Cost: £260 including accommodation and all meals.

Monday 25—Friday 29 July: Ignatian Spirituality Taster The full Exercises are most usually undertaken as three 10 day retreats, two 15 day retreats, or as a full 30 day retreat. However, this year at Epiphany House we are offering a 5 day ‘taster retreat’, led by Paul Fletcher SJ and Rosemary Moffat, giving you the perfect opportunity to try out Ignatian spirituality and see whether it’s for you. Cost: £260 including accommodation and all meals.

IGNATIAN SPIRITUALITY The Spiritual Exercises are a compilation of meditations, prayers, and

contemplative practices developed by St. Ignatius Loyola to help people deepen their relationship with God. They help each person to know the

God of love and compassion more intimately in their own life’s circumstances, to grow in that sense of love, and to see more clearly how

to live out that love for God and for others in those same particular circumstances. More information on the exercises can be found at

WORKSHOPS

Friday 3—Saturday 4 June: An Introductory Workshop to Centering Prayer "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10 Contemplative Prayer is the opening of mind and heart – our whole being – to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. It is a gift of God and a process of interior purification leading, if we consent, to divine union. Centering Prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer. During the time of prayer we consent to God’s presence and action within. It does not replace other kinds of prayer; but simply puts them into a new and fuller perspective. The workshop will be an experiential introduction to Centering Prayer, led by Christine Lidgley. The workshop will run on Friday evening and Saturday daytime. Cost £35 to include a soup lunch. Overnight accommodation is available.

Friday 11—Saturday 12 November: Introduction to the Enneagram Led by the Revd Dr David Rake. The Enneagram provides a way of understanding human personality and is used in many contexts including spiritual direction. It is a tool to help us on the spiritual journey, helping people grow in prayer and worship, discover their pathway to God and to find inner healing. The workshop will run on Friday evening and Saturday daytime, attendance at both parts of the course is required. Cost £35 to include a soup lunch. Overnight accommodation is available.

Please keep an eye on our website throughout the year for information about further retreats, quiet days and workshops.

PERSONAL RETREATS & SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

We warmly welcome those seeking individual space for prayer and reflection, whether for a few hours or a few days. As well as access to the chapel, prayer room and the peaceful garden you will have a room to yourself where you can rest, pray and reflect. All hot drinks are included and a self-service lunch is available for you to have at your leisure. Overnight accommodation is also available if you should wish to make a longer retreat. We would suggest a donation of £20 for a personal one-day retreat. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements when you book as all of our food is freshly prepared for each retreat. We can also offer spiritual direction or accompaniment as part of a personal retreat, allowing an experienced guide to help you on your journey. Spiritual direction can be a way: to make better sense of one’s faith journey to find clarity and support at times of significant life choices to respond more deeply to God’s presence, perhaps by exploring new

ways of prayer and meditation to discover together the cause of problems or blockages in one’s

spiritual life to work through a particular spiritual issue

We would suggest a donation of £15 for a session with a spiritual director. You can book a session with a spiritual director as part of a personal retreat or on a separate occasion.
