Responding To Your Haters
Page 14
Husn Al-KhuluqAllah increases a person’s honor with humility. The greatest test of humility and honor is going to come when you meet people with no character.
“The greatest test of good character,
husn al - khuluq, is how a person
deals with someone with bad character, suu al-khuluq.” - Imam Al-Ghazali rahimullah
That’s where the flow of the tongue, character, heart come out. Arrogance, pride, and so many other things manifest in how you’regoing to deal with someone.
If someone is mean to you at work or social media, think about the incident that took place with the Prophet SAW and Abu Bakr (RA).
Story of the Prophet (SAW) and Abu Bakr
Once, the Prophet (SAW) was sitting with Abu Bakr and a man started to insult them. The Prophet (SAW) did what he always did and responded with patience. He didn’t entertain the insults in any way, nor respond in like manner. Abu Bakr loved the Prophet (SAW) more than he loved himself, and he is witnessing these insults. Finally he can’t hold himself and responds. As soon as Abu Bakr responds, the Prophet (SAW) gets up and leaves. Abu Bakr, seeing the Prophet (SAW) get up
and leave, is afraid that he may have offended the Prophet, or that the Prophet was upset with him. Abu Bakr comes to the Prophet and he says
and the Prophet said, “when we were sitting there, before responding to those insults, Allah sent an
angel from the heavens and it was responding to
everything that was being said. And as soon as you started to respond, the angles left and shaytan
came and sat in it’s place. And i did not want to sit in the presence of shaytan.”
“O messenger of Allah are you upset with me? Is it something i did?”
