What is EMAT?• EMAT is a self-contained mobile field unit
that has a 56 bed capacity
– 20 acute care beds
– 36 intermediate care beds
EMAT is able to:
• isolate patients in the case of an infectious
disease outbreak
EMAT is able to:• assist in managing patients in a mass
casualty situation
EMAT is able to:• provide medical support in the case
of a chemical, biological or radiological incident

When Can I Activate?• Code Orange invoked by hospital
• community disaster plan implemented

• resolution of emergency is predicted to be greater than 6 hours + EMAT response and travel time
