PRODUCTIONThe Woman in Black

I have chosen to look at the production of the film ‘The Woman in Black’. The reason for my choice is because it fits into the same genre of our film which is a physiological thriller.

The producer of the film is Simon Oakes. He has also produced other films such as ‘Let Me In’ which is also a thriller.

DISTRIBUTIONThe Role of Distribution Companies

The film distribution company’s role is to market the film. They would have different jobs to do this such as:• Release the date of the film• The method in which the film is

going to be exhibited

This means that they have a connection with production companies because the distribution company has a big say in the way that their film will be distributed.

MARKETINGDifferent types of marketing

When marketing there are several different types that could be considered. The marketing company needs to think about the best ways to market the film.

Most film marketing companies would spend the most amount of money on marketing a film through the use of a trailer. The reason for this is because it is on television and would therefore give the audience a feel of the film.

Marketing companies also use magazines. Interviews and radio broadcasts to promote the film in a different way.

MARKETINGMarketing our film

When thinking about our film, I would consider investing a good substantial amount of money into marketing our film. The reason for this being that by marketing our film we will be getting a large audience to view our film and therefore will be making more of a income.

The type of marketing that I would consider mostly would be a film trailer. The reason for this is because I think that they are most effective and really engage the audience. I also think that they are the reason that films get a large audience.
