Major Networking Tasks Accomplished

• The NPS Groove- TNT Team has successfully implemented its long haul ship to shore networking system. The situation report below showcases the adaptable nature of the TNT solution to be employed in austere environments.

• Established a ship-to-shore Network using the TNT solution from the USS San Antonio (LPD 17) to the relief sites at US Naval Station Pascagoula.

• This network linked the base command headquarters and the salvage dive team headquarters to JFMCC for the first time since Hurricane Katrina struck.

• Extended the network beyond a single point by utilizing the OFDM long haul ship to shore link and the wireless mesh capability. Total wireless network extends for approximately 4 kilometers above the water.

Next slide shows the view of the island with JFMCC relief site operated by salvage divers. The NPS team brought disconnected NS commanding officer and salvage divers into the TF Katrina relief network and JFMCC situational awareness collaborative environment by applying the TNT OFDM-mesh ship-to-shore networking solution from the USS San Antonio to the divers team in the island

Significance of the NPS Team contributions

• Significant importance and uniqueness of ship-to-shore relief network employment being the first time that the long haul ship to shore capability has been tested on an actual battleship

• We already received the request for adapting designed and implemented solution to the mortuary crews support from the USS Iwo Jima in New Orleans

• Due to the NPS team effort first JFMCC Relief Groove collaborative network between 2nd Fleet TF Katrina relief command centers and diverse relief services on the ground is in place.
