Greetings Everyone to our ‘One-Iron Brand’ Bull & Female SaleThere can be no compromise when  it comes to the  importance of  customers.  Here  at  Rendezvous  Farms,  our  success  over the many years as a purebred business depended primarily on our customer’s  successes.  This  was  always  Rendezvous’  original thinking. The operational mechanisms of this conduit are easy to understand. If you, our customers succeeded, we succeeded, and this thinking must continue. Monday, February 10th will be our annual auction. We believe Ren-dezvous has created a competitive purebred livestock platform for anyone searching for those cutting-edge genetics. The combination of our strong red program, our additional black program, along with our dependable and time-tested fullbloods, reflects the work of a focused team here at the farm. Everything we undertake at our cattle division is aimed at helping our customers make sense of complexity and succeed through the purchase of our product. From Rendezvous Farms, you may choose your next herdbulls by viewing and studying this catalog with the help of recently tak-en visual images, complete pedigrees with their EPD’s, alongside other data-based information.

A must read is David’s individual comments referencing every lot selling. You may decide to choose another option which is to come in person to the farm prior to the sale and inspect the sales offer-ing, living under fairly harsh but uniform environmental conditions. We believe our wide spectrum of bulls will meet all of your indi-vidual needs. Your rewards for owning the right bulls at the right time can be legendary. Rendezvous  Farms  are  now  very  able  to  access  you  a  sustain-able  and  secure  supply  of Simmental  beef  bulls  this  February 10th and beyond. Having orientated ourselves to the current  landscape, we shall marshall ~80 “One-Iron Brand” Rendezvous walking beef-bulls to town come February 10. Not to be forgotten as a result of the sheer size of our bull offering, we are also making available 30 high quality pedigreed open replacement females, many serially se-lected for this Transcon managed event from the upper-end of our heifer pen. These future Simmental mothers can then be bred this spring to the bull of your choice. Their resulting calves may be pearls beyond measure. Monday, February 10th does offer you a smorgasbord of opportunities for anyone! Gerald and David have hand-picked every catalogued lot for your appraisal & inspection. Only the ones with the best of fundamen-tals get to make it to Myles Masson’s conveniently-located Ste Rose sales facility. I am biased, but am still prepared to state publicly that my sons, David and Gerald have gained a high level of knowledge in the realm of understanding the complexities of livestock  genetics  and  then making  it  work.  They  are fiercely objective and disciplined with their priorities. They enrich their work environment with teamwork, enthusiasm that is contagious, coupled with a “can do” attitude. They study the science of where to find what may seem to oth-ers as completely unscientific and then spontaneously apply it to enhance, establish, and only then do they proceed with the many hundreds of individual matings that need be done here, come early spring at Rendezvous. The pattern  is clear -- these two young men are serious about this business and are grounded in reality. David and Gerald would be happy to receive a text or give them a call anytime to discuss any of your needs.

Making  this  sale  happen  from  start  to  finish  is  a  shared  en-deavor. Transcon Livestock Corp. of Alberta are our official and complete ‘Sales Managers.’ This hard-working sales management team with determined leadership, combined with technical excel-lence, adebtly do their job for all the buyers and the seller. All of our catalogued listed representatives are ready at all times to help our customers with small purchases, or big purchases, be it on the commercial, purebred or  investment fronts. Their abilities and their knowledge of the business will be shared with you, which is the hallmark of professionalism. All this at no cost to the buyers.  Call  or  text  our  sale-representatives  for  any  kind  of  help  or advice. Transcon Livestock, along with our sales consultant, Wilf Davis, and all of our ringside representatives will use their skills for discretely bidding and buying on anyone’s behalf. Our staff are such that they will methodically go over any lots with you, to help with your selections. Everyone here at Rendezvous Farms are happy to invite all of you to join us at Ste Rose Auction Mart and Restaurant on Monday February 10 at 11:30 am. Come dine and visit with family, friends or peers. Join us in Manitoba’s official Cattle Capital and enjoy the day. We’re  very  happy  to  serve many  complimentary warm dinners of Manitoba beef  and  the best  of  refreshments will  be  avail-able  before,  during  and  after  our  10th Annual Sale.  You must also make  it  to  the  restaurant  tables  featuring  our  stylemark dessert, boxes full of freshTim Horton’s donuts for one and all, compliments  of Grandview Credit Union  Ltd.  Thank-you Steve Ganczar. The sale shall begin at 1:00 pm sharp, under the hammer of our auctioneer, Colonel Chris Poley. Be in the main sales ring seated in comfort to witness our live bulls and heifers sell. In closing, the outcome of the cattle  industry  is now hardly  in doubt. This  is still a song  in progress. I say the best  is yet to come.  Forget  the wastelands  of  pessimism. World-wide  beef demand is on the rise and it paints an alarming picture of beef shortages. Strong  beef markets  in  2013 were  a  great  victory after the last brutal decade. A critical lesson dominates my mind. Cattle prices flows and ebbs, and hard-core, long-term subscrib-ers are always rewarded. Hence, the spirit cannot be broken. Let us all soldier-on.

Thanks for reading this and have a good day with family and friends. RICHARD MAGUET General Manager of Rendezvous Farms cattle division

Sales Management Comments

Herd Health and Fertility: All sale cattle have been treated twice with Ivomec and are on the Pfizer Gold Program: Bovi-Shield Gold 5, One Shot & Ultrabac7/Somubac. All sale cattle were vaccinated for foot rot with Fusoguard. All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested & palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale.

Sight Unseen Purchase Program:If you are unable to attend the sale but are interested in a bull or heifer, give any of the Transcon Team, Wilf, or David a call and they will person-ally go over the sale cattle and your program and recommend bulls or heifers that will meet your needs.

The “Rendezvous” name is established as one of the longest op-erating breeding farms of registered seedstock in North America, but most notably as one of the founders of Simmental cattle in the province of Manitoba. This fourth generation family farming enterprise is proud of the fact they are exclusive to agriculture as a livelihood. Not only does the papered Simmental cowherd number as one of the highest in Manitoba, but operates alongside an ever growing grain operation within one of Canada’s premiere agricultural communities.

To be successful in the “bull selling” business, it continues to prove itself that breeders who are successful selling bulls, are always sourcing quality herdsires for their own program. This effort is evident when analyzing the Rendezvous bull pen. The Fullblood bulls are led by one of the strongest groups that will be found any-where north of the 49th. There are many big, soggy, hairy, polled sons of the LaBatte bred “Nero”. I’m very impressed with this set of brothers, again sired by “Nero”, who himself was out of one of the best Fullblood cows to ever work in the LaBatte herd. High performance Red Simmie bulls will be offered by “Hummer” and

“Trigger”. The Black segment of the bull pen continues to grow in both quantity and quality and we will see this trend in years to come as Rendezvous becomes a known source to prairie breeders for Black Simmental bulls.

An excellent group of heifers will be offered this year, representing the same sire groups as their brothers in the bull sale. Breeders need to be prepared for this early sale date to source some qual-ity replacements from a proven, established program designed to raise bulls in the “Cattle Capital of Manitoba!”

Let us know if we can be of assistance with your purchasing needs. To access our industry-leading, highly trusted order buying services call us at 204 870-5130 or 870-5150.

His sire is the $38,000 Wheatland Red Hummer 608S who was purchased by Double Bar D and Swan Lake. The dam is a tremendous R Plus Red Ribeye cow who goes back to LaBatte’s famed IPU Red Pocahontas 105L cow. The 105L cow is the dam of Robb Farms’ famed 71N cow that has made them big dollars in the last few years. Enough about pedigree and past accomplishments, the IPU Red Hummer 217U bull saw heavy service the last few breeding seasons after seeing how his first crop developed so well. What we really like about Hummer is his large, wide, square made quarters. When you walk behind him, one can’t help but be impressed with the pair of pants he boasts. His length & scale is another huge selling point. He is maturing into an elite herdsire here at the farm. Hum-mer’s calves are born easily and at two days of age, they are all the same -- low set and the widest topped babies on the place. Hummer raises the cowboy kind of bulls who will only make you money.

After the first five calves were born, we knew that Caesar 584 would become a permanent fixture at the ranch. A good herd bull always breeds better than himself, point in case is with this Caesar line. Every generation seems to impress us more and more. The calves from Caesar 584 are small at birth, but turn into curve bending growth machines. When touring people in the herd sire pasture, a lot of folks seem to gravitate towards this young herd sire. To make things even better, Caesar 584 is also homozygous polled.

A naturally easy keeping, fleshy type bull, we’ve worked him hard since we’ve owned him and yet every fall he’s in tip top condition. Trigger was the lead off and high selling bull at the Herdmaster’s 2012 Bull Sale where we purchased him for $26,000. Glen Maxwell stated that this was the best red bull they had raised and coming from Glen, we don’t take that lightly. Trigger’s style, thickness, flesh and body frame is what we’ve been looking for. Homozygous polled as well, we’ve had numerous offers from semen companies and individuals to purchase semen or shares in Trigger. We feel the best way to get a piece of the pie is by owning a direct son as they are developing into tremendous herdbull prospects.

He was one of the lead off bulls at MFI in 2006 and one of the heaviest as well, weighing in at 1620 lbs at 13.5 months of age. His sire is the well known and respected Shawacres Jahari who has had quite an impact on the breed in recent years. Proven breeding on both parent’s sides. We were very pleased with Jahari’s first set of calves; they were built right and displayed good muscling and color. The Jahari cattle are easy keeping, very fleshy and just darn good. His daughters are now into full production and they are raising us some top notch calves, year after year. Check out his sons and daughters selling, they will definitely catch your eye.

This Full Fleckvieh, South African bull is a transplant son of the Bar 5 Ms Erika II 830 cow and he was the only male from that flush. Draco is the best footed bull we have ever owned, he moves like a cat and is very long bodied. A great disposition and style to burn, we have nothing but good things to say about this meat machine. His calves are small at birth, get up and suck and then go to work, plain and simple. We even used Draco on a group of heifers this spring, that’s how well this guy works. We would like to thank our friends, Derek & Emile Brunel of North SIDE Farms Ltd., for having sold us this powerful beef bull. Draco walked the pastures for three seasons at North SIDE before making his way south to Rendezvous. The Brunels were extremely pleased with their Draco progeny and felt that he should be used in a purebred herd to help advance the Simmental breed. While doing some research on the pedigree, you will notice the dam’s sire, Kykso Kalger, the K Line in South Africa means pigment, calving ease and good muscle, this describes Draco.

We selected Nero at LaBatte’s in 2011, where he was our pick of the Fullblood bulls that year. A long, smooth made, easy fleshing bull, that’s low set and deep bodied. Nero is extremely well filled in the flank area and travels quite smoothly. Add all of the above plus a pedigree that’s second to none, and it’s no wonder that this bull is doing things right. Nero is not only impressing us, but his calves are really drawing some serious attention from everyone.

Sired by the ever popular Wheatland 680S bull, Shamrock spells out performance. A long bodied, easy moving, thick made individual whose calves rival any of the other sired groups in our program. This heteroblack bull also adds some different pedigree for our red bull customers. We urge you to look over these Shamrock sons and daughters. They will blow your socks off. Shamrock is now working at Darwin Froese’s herd, so this will be your last opportunity to purchase sons or daughters of this great breeding bull.

His sire and dam are both impressive animals and to top it off their pedigrees are a total outcross to anything you’ll find in any catalog. We also like the size of foot on Stealth and his calves are easy to work with and all around a tremendous bull for our black program. His progeny should be well received as we are overjoyed with the way he’s bred.

1. RENDEZVOUS 442APOLLED FULLBLOOD MALE

P790643 AIA 442A 1 January 2013This has been one of my favorite bulls all year long. The sheer capacity of this bull is what truly amazes me. 442A has so much power and scale. He’s wide topped, full of meat and muscle with a great spring of rib. Get behind him and you can’t help but grin when you see the thickness he pos-sesses. Such a deep ribbed, easy keeping bull with a monster weaning weight of 1105 lbs. That’s the kind of performance this great breed is all about. Now, the icing on the cake…he’s POLLED but has the horned bull’s thickness and phenotype. Realistically, this bull shouldn’t be leaving our yard, since we’ll probably end up burning a set of tires looking for another bull of this magnitude. 442A could very well be a herd changer for anyone with Fullblood cattle. Selling Full Possession and retaining 1/3 semen interest.

2. RENDEZVOUS 557APOLLED FULLBLOOD MALE

P790663 AIA 557A 3 January 2013Another heavy hitter in the Fullblood pen, this powerful bull has the added bonus of being polled too. Built like a barrel on legs, this stout bull is sure to be popular among cattlemen. This was one of Ben Wright’s top picks when touring this fall. Anyone wanting to keep their calves polled and add some extra Fullblood punch to their red cows will definitely have this guy marked down. 1040 lbs at weaning time is worth mentioning.

3. RENDEZVOUS 700AFULLBLOOD MALE

790672 AIA 700A 4 January 2013A standout bull who’s turning a lot of heads. Blaze faced Fullblood with a thick, luscious hair coat. This bull is all meat and no potatoes. You can almost feel his meaty texture just by looking at him. Deep sided with tons of rib, filled in the flank and thick butted, he’s a real knockout. He was one of the heavyweights this fall, crunching the scale at 1095 lbs. A very impressive individual to say the least. His mother is a great, young Jahari cow with a perfect udder and great feet. Her son in last year’s sale was purchased by Dwayne and Shelly Moffat of Rorketon. A favorite among visitors this year, he’s the kind of bull we’d drive miles to go out and buy for our own program.

An extraordinarily long bodied, goggle eyed, Polled Fullblood bull. His lovely red color is quite attractive and his hair is to be desired by all. Thick butted and well filled in the flank this powerful bull should definitely have some friends on sale day. If you’ve been using a lot of reds because of the polled trait, give this bull a try. He’ll cross like a charm on those red cattle and still knock the horns off. Mothered by a good cow family that always bring home a heavy calf in the fall.

Here’s a hairy IPU Nero son with great length and style. The dam of this bull has been a very hard working, good producing cow. This is her fourth son in a row to go through the sales ring. We don’t have to go very far to find her sons in action either. Larkspur Ranch of Eddystone have two of them working in their awesome herd and Armand and Coline Verhaeghe of Ste Rose own the other son. We are grateful for repeat and loyal customers such as the Verhaeghes and Johnsons.

6. RENDEZVOUS 60APOLLED FULLBLOOD MALE

P790720 AIA 60A 26 January 2013Homozygous Polled. Truly an interesting herdbull candidate, he reminds us a lot of his sire when we purchased him. Low to the ground, thick butted, soggy and well filled in the flank area. Take note of how his quarter is so deep and holds all that meat. The mother of this bull has been a stellar producing MFI Supreme cow. She’s dark red, thick made and very well balanced. Her sons have averaged $6000, both going to purebred breeders. Westgold Farms of Minburn, AB is using a maternal brother to 60A in their awesome program. We look forward to seeing sons sell in Ken’s sale. Bristol View Farms of Shawville, QC also selected a maternal brother a few years ago. 60A would be a great breeder bull candidate and sells in his entirety.

For a single polled bull, IPU Nero has had a very good track record polling his calves. Lots of length on this guy and tons of hair, he should be able to cover a lot of ground. The dam of this bull is a larger framed Twin Brae cow that came out of the Harvest Hoedown sale a number of years ago.

This circle of latitude passes directly through the main yard at Rendezvous Farms!

8. RENDEZVOUS 577A Possibly the most talked about bull in the pen since weaning time. Here’s a herdbull in the making and a powerful one to say the least. This Smuggler son has been a standout since birth, perfect color markings, low to the ground, big testicles with lots of rib and shape. This thick butted bull is amazingly long and is built the way we want our herdbulls to look like. His mother is a feature cow that could be on the cover of any magazine. We always make a point of showing her off in pasture tours. This is the 4th bull she’s produced and every year she just cranks out a showstopper. She has two sons in MB, Larkspur Ranch Ltd., and Richard Puhach each owning one. Hal and Drew Parks of Rocanville, SK selected the other son on a sight unseen deal. We’ve contemplated keeping this bull but since this is his sire NUG Smuggler’s first calf crop, we have decided to sell 577A, but not without hesitation on our part. A golden opportunity for any Fullblood enthusiast. We would like to retain 100 straws of semen for in herd use.

A very well packaged bull with great pigmentation and tremendous hair. With last year’s winter, we can all appreciate some extra hair on our cattle. Born easily at 90 lbs, this moderate made Fullblood has a stellar pedigree to boot. We purchased his good Houston sired mother from the Bonchuks where she led off their fall female sale a few years ago. This 104A bull offers outcross genetics to our customers whom have been using a lot of Jahari and Paramount breeding.

Is there such a thing as too much hair for these cold prairie winters? We don’t think so and 561A had no trouble staying warm this year. Lots of length, big testicles, he’s just got herdbull written all over him. The mother of this bull is a beautiful young cow that’s really a model of what we want our females to look like. She’s also raised a son that’s working at the Poschenrieder Farms Ltd. Be sure to ask Dustin about his Rendezvous bulls and how well they’ve worked for him.

Another hairy Fullblood bull sired by our new and exciting NUG Smuggler herdsire. Smuggler stamps them all with a lot of hair and great length. 62A was born with a low 84 lbs birth weight but he’s kept up with the rest as time went on. This is the 7th son to sell from the 558P cow. We are really hoping she gives us a heifer calf this winter since it would be her first. She’s not the biggest cow in the herd but she seems to crank out bull calves one after another, averaging right in that $4500 range. Some of her recent sons have been selected by Ed, Debbie and Sydney DeKoning of Eden (congrats on your $1326 steers sold in December) and Poschenreider Farms of Westbourne. If you’re wanting consistency, it’s time to buy a 558P son.

He crunched the scale at weaning time, weighing in at 1020 lbs. He’s also in the top 4% of the breed when it comes to WW EPDs. We don’t do any showing of cattle because we feel the sales ring is the ultimate judge of livestock. 533A wouldn’t be the type to win a show but he will be the type to produce thick, fleshy steers that capture you the most amount of dollars at the auction barn. Here’s a roaring powerhouse of a bull and to top it off he’s polled! If your goal is to add weight to your calf crop and not want to deal with horns, well this is definitely the bull for the job. An early January born bull weaning off at just over 1000 lbs is truly impressive. Kelly and Lorraine Johnson of Eddystone are using two maternal brothers as part of their herdbull arsenal. The Johnsons are big time believers in using Fullblood bulls and it sure paid off when they sold their calves in Ashern last December. Kelly tells us that the Rendezvous fullblood sired calves were his most profitable group.

If your objective of the year is to add more size and scale to your calf crop, I don’t know of a better candidate than 586A. If you like consistency and aim for top weaning steers, the proven bloodline of Jahari is as good a bet as any. We keep breeding the mother of this bull to Jahari year after year because it’s a bullet proof combination. The best testament of customer satisfaction is when we see full brothers being bought the following year and this is exactly what the good people at E & C Livestock have done. 790729 AIA 56A 5 February 2013Another dark red, goggle eyed Jahari bull that’s soggy made and certainly deep bodied. It’s getting a little tougher every year to find these good Fullblood bulls. Maybe that’s the reason why a full brother to 56A was our high selling Fullblood bull in our 2012 sale. He was selected by Pearl Valley Simmentals of Ross, ND. The Vachals took two Fullblood bulls back to North Dakota that year and have used them with great success. Cross them on reds and blacks and watch your weaning weights climb.

790649 AIA 560A 2 January 2013One of my brother Gerry’s favorite bulls, he’s nicknamed him Google since he has everything you’re searching for. Awesome hair, great color pattern and mothered by a moderate framed 1350 lbs Paramount cow. Wide topped, thick made and super easy keeping, he’ll also calve easily, just like all Draco sons with their low birth weights. Blaine Ehr has a brother to 560A and has used him on heifers successfully. A sound individual and did we mention his hair?

Here’s a Draco poster boy, blood red, marked up the way we like ‘em and just full of meat. 401A is not heavy boned, has a small head and should calve real easy, possibly a potential heifer bull for the Full Fleckvieh enthusiast looking for different genetics. This bull moves very freely and should be an agile breeder, just like his sire. Mothered by an excellent Virginia bred cow we purchased a few years ago through Jay Good. A full brother to 401A was selected by Denis and Donna Parthenay of Ste. Rose. The Parthenays are known for purchasing the best bulls available and top the market every year at the Ste. Full Fleckvieh. Check out this stylish, attractive Full Fleckvieh, low birth weight bull. An outcross pedigree with a large percentage of his bloodlines being of South African descent. It seems this guy is always camera ready ever since he was a young calf. Lots of depth, an attractive head and mothered by a good Bonchuk bred cow who was a top seller at their sale a few years back. A sister to 103A was purchased by Clearwater Simmentals of Olds, AB in our sale last year.

Full Fleckvieh. Here’s a long bodied, fine boned, Sleepy Hollow Draco son. Last year we had a full brother to 440A that could have been our best Fullblood but he got injured after weaning and didn’t make the sale. Fortunately this guy did make it and we feel that he should add that perfect blend of calving ease and growth to his calf crop. His Anchor “T” Impact mother is just an awesome female whom we always point out while touring the herd.

Big ole goggles, beautiful red color, lots of middle, thickness and depth, this bull has a lot of eye appeal. The grandmother of this bull, 521K, is 14 years of age and still in calf for 2014. She’s never missed a beat and raised a lot of good bulls for us over the years. Excellent cow family in our books. Be sure to take a look at 520A on sale day.

One of the younger bulls in the offering but still a dandy individual. His dam did a terrific job on her first calf. She came home in very good condition, and is a lovely Paramount daughter who will have a lengthy career here at RF. 419A is very well balanced, smooth made and should be very easy calving. Because of his age he may get lost in all of the action. These younger bulls can sometimes be the deal of the day.

Here’s your last opportunity to buy a Paramount son. Over the years Paramount produced more saleable sons than we can even count. They just seemed to be what the commercial industry was looking for; hair, length, performance and pounds. If you wanted to raise good cattle, a Paramount sired bull was definitely the mode of transportation. This herdbull prospect is no different; thick made, square hipped with awesome length and lovely hair. 64A just has that herdbull look to him. Proven genetics at its finest, buy this guy and let him make you money.

The word rugged comes to mind when we look at 562A. Loaded with hair, pigmentation, thick-ness and depth, he’s got it all. His numbers will make your head spin: born at 91 lbs, weaned at 1005 lbs out of a first calf heifer!! His Milk & MWWT EPDs are in the top 4% of the entire Simmental breed. The Legend sons were our highest averaging set of bulls last year, and it’s no wonder when you look at his sons again this year. This bull also offers an outcross pedigree to a lot of our other Fullblood bulls.

Born at 84 lbs, solid red & mothered by a blaze faced dam and stemming from a fantastic cow family, 567A is another solid candidate for anyone’s herd. I feel like I want to mention the same things over and over when writing about these Trigger sons. They are all like peas in a pod. We really enjoy raising bulls for the commercial industry and adding value to our customers’ calf crops. The structure on these Trigger sons are just flawless. They will add more depth & top to your calves, especially if you’ve been using a lot of Red Angus. These bulls are born, bred & raised under ranch conditions and must perform in those environments.

Born unassisted to a first calf, Fullblood Draco heifer. We always like to try new bulls on a few heifers and see what kind of calves they throw. Even though Trigger is a performance bull, we wouldn’t be afraid of using him on heifers after that test. 596A is blaze faced, converts feed into pounds easily and has that extra depth that all these Trigger calves hold. A stylish bull with good testicles, thick hind quarters and all the jazz to make him worthy of the most critical of cattlemen.

They’re all so similar and group up so nicely. Evenness in your calf crop is playing an ever increasing role in marketing, with the demand for large, uniform sired calves bringing top dollar at auction marts across the country this fall. The trend to purchase half and ¾ brothers and run them on a group of cows is probably one of the best decisions you’ll make. These Trigger sons will go out and get the job done.

He is stamp-ing his sons just like he is; deep-sided, thick quartered, wide-topped with herd bull character. 463A is no exception, just look at the capacity he displays. I think this guy could live off willows all year and still be conditioned, he’s just that easy keeping. Throw in an Icon daughter as his mother and that only adds value to this big fella. This solid red bull will add pounds to anyone’s calf crop. With record calf prices, maximum poundage is money in the bank and it happens with power bulls such as 463A.

A deep bodied, super soggy, thick butted, blaze faced bull that’s been catching cattlemen’s atten-tion in the pen. An easy keeping bull who’s got a very fluid movement. These blaze faced bulls are sure popular, and that shot of chrome in your calves will indicate the Simmie influence and the buyers will add that extra cent to their bid. A maternal brother, who was also blaze faced was purchased by the good folks at Thorsteinson Land and Livestock of Foam Lake, SK for $6500.

The Black Diamond cow does it again, as year after year she never misses. We only have one daughter out of her and we’re really hoping she gives us another this year. However, her bull calves have been very well received and this year’s calf is no exception. He’s solid red, with lots of eye appeal and moves very easily. Turn him out in the pasture and go seeding, he’ll get the job done. Last year’s maternal brother went to repeat customers and very well respected mixed farmers, the Gilmores of Bar 7 Farms, Kelwood. Two other brothers are working in the herds of MJD Farms Inc., and Jim and Pat Zuk’s respectively.

PG790679 AIA 136A 5 January 2013136A has been a standout since birth, a true prototype in what we want our bulls to look like. Unparalleled length, tremendous depth of rib, nice square, thick made quarters that hang low, this powerful Hummer son is sure to be at the front of the sale order. The dam of this bull is a super long bodied Kingbuster cow that’s always in good condition and has an excellent udder. We really like his hair coat and friendly demeanor. A full sister is working in the herd of Corey & Maurice Desrochers of Mariapolis, MB. The Desrochers won the commercial breeder of the year award a few years back and were also our volume buyers in 2013. Truly a sale feature that would add so much to anyone’s beef program.

This long bodied beef bull should mature into quite the impressive herdsire. If you’re wanting to add scale and weight to your calf crop, 457A definitely fits the bill. PG790695 AIA 417A 11 January 2013We really like these Hummer sons. They are all like peas in a pod, year after year. Red, polled, blaze faced, tremendous length of spine, great depth of rib and a thick hind quarter, this bull has herdsire stamped all over him. Lovely hair and tremendous conformation, bulls like 417A are what we strive to produce for our customers. If you’re serious about a powerful, blaze faced bull, we would highly recommend this fellow to anyone. The dam of this bull is a powerful cow with a lovely udder and stays in great condition year round. 417A has a sister working at Triple T Diamond in Lundar and a brother at Paul Toth’s of Langbank, SK. This fella would be a ¾ brother to our 2012 high selling red bull that Curtis Zdan purchased for $11,500. Ask Curtis about his Hummer and Icon bulls and how well they work in his top notch program. Definitely a sale feature.

If you haven’t had the chance to use a Hummer son, February 10 is the day to get the job done. An awesome polled, blaze faced bull with tons of middle and quarter. Hummer sons have been very popular in our sales and it’s no wonder with progeny like this. The mother of this bull has raised sons that are working at McPeak’s in ND and Shawn Buchanan’s of McCreary. A younger fella, born in early March to a tank of a cow. Lighter colored, so if you’re into rais-ing those buckskin calves for the eastern market this bull would fit in nicely to that kind of a program. Lots of length and sired by Hummer, how can you go wrong? We’ve kept two sisters to this guy for our own herd and they are really strong producing young females. 432A is tied for being the youngest of our offering and he’s sure no slouch of a bull either! He has a nice crest, attractive color and should be light on his feet. If you turn your bulls out later on in the warmer months, it’s always a good idea to have a few spares and sometimes these later born bulls are the real bargains. Here’s a bull I’ve been admiring for quite some time. Our youngest born bull being a middle of March calf, however he stacks right up with the big January boys. If this guy had been born two months earlier, chances are he would’ve been the heaviest bull of the day. Just analyze this guy for a minute, one can’t help but appreciate his depth, thickness and scale. This Hummer son should be a real tank. We raised a full brother that was the same. He was purchased by Glen Aldentatler of Britton, SD for $6500 in 2012.

It seems that I always want to use the word “solid” when describing the Specialist cattle, but that’s for a valid reason, they’re all heavy and solid muscled cattle. This bull is sensationally long bodied so get behind him, you’ll like what you see. His color would work well on some Charolais based cows. Those buckskin calves will be popular with the order buyers.

He has some awesome calving ease bulls in his pedigree yet they all have adequate performance, style and structure. 599A could very well be that heifer bull that can still produce a heavy calf come weaning time. 78 lbs birth weight and a weaning weight of 940 lbs, he’s truly a growth curve bender. His mother is a beautiful young female with a nice tidy udder. The grandmother and great grandmother both have bulls selling in the sale, look up lots 4 & 33 to see their production, definitely something worth noting. The more I study this bull, the more I like him, well put together in an attractive package, definitely a calving ease prospect here.

Another admirable solid red bull out of a first calf heifer. 88 lbs birth weight with a +7.1 CE EPD. Just evaluate his structure, and it’s not hard to see that he’ll calve like a dream. Quiet disposition, easy keeping and with Icon in his pedigree there will be lots of milk. We sure like the Caesar cattle and so does everyone else who walks in the pen.

Highly productive cow family, they’ve all been bull factories. In fact, the grandmother to this bull, Rendezvous 463W has a heck of powerful bull selling, he’s Lot 37 in the catalogue.

PG790696 AIA 120A 11 January 2013We only have two Icon sons selling in this year’s offering and we know that they will be popular. This long bodied, powerful, thick made beef bull should definitely have some friends come sale day. Tons of hair, lots of depth and good testicle development makes this guy a top choice for many people going through the pens this winter. Our next door neighbors, Ernest and Melanie Beasse purchased a full brother for $5000 and are very happy with their investment. The Beasse herdbulls pasture along the #5 highway during the summer and are certainly an impressive group.

Large testicles, thick butted, wide topped, straight back and with a perfect profile, this bull will be a money maker for his new owner. Outcross genetics with his parents. Rightfully so, this long bodied beef bull stands even on all four corners and seems to look good from any angle. Check out his tremendous weaning weight, 1000 lbs! Just picture the steers out of this bull. They’ll be barn burners when you come to sell them. 511A is the perfect example of low birth weight, high performance. Just peek at his numbers and you’ll see what I mean. Long as a set of super Bs, he really reminds us of his sire, Westgold Stealth. Great hair with a nice combination of depth and thickness all packaged together nicely. This bull would work great on some smaller framed Angus cows. A stout made heifer who’s possibly one of the biggest to sell, yet born small at 70 lbs. She’s grow-ing into a leading lady. What we really like about 45A is her depth of rib, capacity and HAIR. Her mother is a fantastic Jahari first calf female who did a terrific job on her first go-around. Just a beautiful Fullblood heifer that would be a feature in anyone’s herd. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller.
