REMINDER Whole School Assembly

Wednesday 29 April 2015

10.48 am in the school hall

Batlow Technology School was well represented at both the

Batlow and Adelong ANZAC services. Although heavy rain fell

throughout the Batlow march and service, the Adelong service

was conducted in more favourable conditions.

Our school captains and students were commendable in their

behaviour and attitude at both ceremonies.

Pictured are school captains, Lilly Kirkby, Rahul Pratap,

Carter Ironside and John Kirkby at the Batlow service and

Imagine Shoemark with Mrs Arnall and

Ms O’Loughlan at the Adelong service.

Firstly I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mr Greg Hodges and recently relocated

to Batlow from Wagga. Most recently I have been a Deputy of Wagga Wagga High School

for over nine years and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will enhance the

teaching and learning within Batlow Technology School.

As most of the Batlow school community will realise, I have been appointed Relieving

Principal for the remainder of the school year. Due to Department of Education and

Communities policy, the position will then be advertised for a permanent principal for the

commencement of 2016.

As I get to know the students, parents and wider community over coming weeks, I am

hoping to gain a greater insight into the educational needs of your children.

Our school has a recognised school uniform which we encourage all students to wear. With

cooler weather approaching, I invite students to view the various uniform items on display in

the front office. Our school recognises that the purchase of school uniforms can place

financial stress on families. At Batlow Technology School we provide assistance to families

in this situation. There is no reason for students not to be wearing our BTS uniform.

The athletics carnival should have been completed on Friday and results and photographs

will soon be released. I would like to acknowledge the work of Mrs Arnall and her

supporting team in making this day happen.

I look forward to challenges of the school year and trust that we can all work together.

Greg Hodges

Relieving Principal

The capacity to learn is a gift;

The ability to learn is a skill;

The willingness to learn is a choice.

The staff and students of Batlow

Technology School are excited to

welcome Mr Greg Hodges as Relieving

Principal for the remainder of the 2015

school year. Mr Hodges comes to us

with a wealth of experience having spent

many years as Deputy Principal at Wagga

Wagga High School and previously taught

in many schools across NSW.

Our primary students enjoyed an “Easter Fun Day” to finish off Term 1. The day involved an Easter

hat parade and a tabloid sports afternoon run by students in the 5/6 class.

Our special guests at the hat parade were the Play group families who came along and met our

other special guest Easter Bunny. Each student made an Easter hat either at school or at home.

There were some awesome creations. Easter Bunny joined Mrs Cooper and Mrs Williams from

the office to judge the parade. Several students from each class were awarded Easter goodies for

their efforts with their hats. Easter Bunny also rewarded each student with chocolate eggs for

their endeavours. The SRC then provided our students and their families with a sausage sizzle

lunch. Thank you to the SRC for such a kind gesture. We appreciated it very much.

The 5/6 students then ran a tabloid afternoon with Easter games which included egg and spoon

race, throw the egg through the hoop and Easter egg hunt. This was a great way to finish our fun

day and the term.
