ARMY GOES HOME Helen, Mom, Correll, age 96 graduated with flying colors on Saturday, May 22, around 4pm. Ordained by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1925, she wrote "Lady Preacher", just part of her life’s story, in the late 1980's and early 1990's. She and her husband Sidney, married 66 years, traveled the world for over 60 years, plant-ing many churches, raising up pastors, missionaries, schools, clinics, and hos-pitals. An acquaintance and friend of many 20th century leaders; Sister Helen trav-eled with Jan Crouch overseas. She knew Billy Sunday, Katherine Kuhlman, Smith Wigglesworth, Audrey Meier, Alfred Garr, (married by Dr. Correll), Jack Hayford, and the list goes on and on. And, her favorite of all, whom she knew so well, her beautiful Savior, Jesus. In the LAST FEW HOURS As I leaned over Mom, her eyes seeing 'beyond the room, into the Next Room, (of her eternal inheritance), her breath was slow at times, then halting, now and then a gasp. Waiting for the final call, her withered body, still running by

the pacemaker installed last year. So often lately she had told us how she was ready to go Home. Every time we saw her in the last few months she would say, "as long as I am here, I will praise the Lord

with every breath". Oh, what an inspiration to so many!

Many will attest to her tenacity in her faith, her praises of the One who came to set us free indeed. Many of her family and friends were able to share the last few days with her. The day before she

died, we got to pray with her, read Psalm 23, kiss her, hug her and pray some more. We sang "I'll Fly Away" and some other verses, and we got to tell her how we loved her and how beautiful she is. I was overcome when she smiled at me so sweetly once. She gave kisses to all. What a precious time to be there to witness her crossing over into Glory. What a sweet presence of the Lord was in that room as family and friends came to say how they loved her so and say good-bye. Other than Jesus and my own family, no one has impacted my life more than Rev. Helen Correll. Her Christ-like exam-ple, sweet spirit, love and joy are surely a standard for us all to aim Higher and Higher. I will never forget you “Mom”. Gratefully,

The family requests all memorial donations be made to CMM. After all funeral expenses the Family and CMM worldwide would like to honor Helen and Sidney’s memory to further the work to which they gave their lives. We are building The Correll Christian Academy [a much needed elementary school], in the Philippines to honor them. Will you join with us in believing God for $100,000. Gifts may be sent to: CMM PO BOX 7705 Charlotte, NC 28241

Dear beloved of the Lord, We are just through with the memorial service for our dear Mom Correll. There were about 75 pastors, Bible school students and church mem-bers who came. I was overcome with emotion when I shared with the congregation Mom’s faithfulness unto the Lord, especially during the floral offering to express how we deeply love and miss her. I'm so happy tp report that we were able to raise about Php1,500, ($300) in honor of Mom. This will be our seed faith fund for the Correll Christian Academy and I challenged every pastor who was with us to also raise money from their congregation for this same purpose. We are all eager to see the grade school get started. We pray for God's miraculous provi-sion. We send you all our love and prayers. Thank you always for being our partners in the Lord's work. God bless you always! Pastor Florie Santiago, Philippines

2 Helen EllioTt Correll—Remembering

Have you ever heard someone talk about the “Betweens”? I didn’t get it at first so it was explained to me that the “Betweens” are the days between the birth and death dates on a tombstone. There were sure a lot of “Betweens” (35,217) for Helen Correll! There were many, many high points in her life, but there were also some low points as well. Helen was born in Silverton, Co. to Edwin Austin and Mabelle Dennison Elliott. In the earlier days her father was an assayer in various silver mines in Colorado and her mother was a nurse. Edwin was a very stern and religious man and had adopted some very rigid beliefs. For instance, he would not allow Mabelle to wear any jew-elry, not even her wedding ring. When Helen was three years old Mabelle left and Helen’s grandmother, Lydia Ann Hammers Elliott, took over the task of homemaker for Edwin and his family. Three years later Mabelle, now divorced and remarried, re-turned and filed for custody of Helen, but she lost her case and Helen’s grandmother, who was sixty years old at the time, contin-ued the task of raising her with love and care.

Around 1917 Edwin’s little family moved to southern California, because he had heard of some wonderful spiritual revivals occurring in that area. They soon migrated to the Foursquare Church of the Gospel, in Los Angeles, founded by Sister Aimee Semple McPherson. The church was just starting L.I.F.E. Bible School. Helen had graduated from the eighth grade at the Nazarene School in Pasadena, CA., and with special permission, she was allowed to enroll in the very first class of L.I.F.E. At age fifteen, she was the youngest member of the class and was the last surviving member of that class of 1925. At the age of sixteen she pastored a Children’s Church while in school and was involved in minis-try ever since. On June 19, 1925 she was married to Sid-ney North Correll, who was still a student at L.I.F.E. Sidney and Helen made a strik-ing couple and they both were excited about serving the Lord together. They pio-neered many churches in southern Califor-nia, starting in Fullerton and then moved on to Colorado and Nebraska. Later they pas-tored in several areas, including the ones that I remember, Kenosha and Milwaukee

OUR MOTHER by Rebecca “Becky” Correll Cauble

WI, Cleveland and Dayton, OH where they remained at Christian Tabernacle for 23 years. While moving around and pastoring various churches they also enriched their lives with four children, nick-named “The Thundering Herd”. The first born, Sidney Robert was born in Aug 1926 in Fullerton, CA, next came Rebecca, in Sterling, Colorado, in May 1928, born just after they held some meetings there. In Kenosha, WI they added Roselyn, in Oct. 1929 and Roger in Nov. 1930. When Roger was 10 years old Mother really had a desire for another baby and in Sept. 1940 Little Helen (now “Penny”) came along. Six years later, when Robert was attending Wheaton College, Rebecca was a senior in high school and Rose and Roger were in high school, Michael Richard Todd (Mike) came along in Mar. of 1946. The next year the Corrells moved to a farm outside of Dayton in Trotwood, Ohio. Several years later they added Kenny Correll (Sidney’s nephew) as another son to the family. About 1936 the Corrells moved to Day-

ton, Ohio and co-pastored Christian Tabernacle for twenty-three years. Shortly after moving to Dayton Mother was inspired to launch, and host, a thirty-minute, live, daily radio pro-gram, which remained on the air until they moved to Florida in the 1960’s. The first programs were in the early morning hours. Many mornings the four children got up bright and early and went to the radio studio for the program, BEFORE BREAKFAST! Then would go home, eat breakfast and go on to school. All became regulars on the “Wing Over Dayton” program either singing or reading Bible passages and/or poems. Mother was also co-pastor of the church and is remembered for the chil-dren’s programs as well as her dra-matic illustrated sermons. One of these sermons brought the City Fire-men (really) running down the aisles to the rescue a lost soul, as part of the script. Dad had always been deeply immersed in Foreign Missions and in 1946, along with several other ministers, founded

United World Missions (UWM). In 1961 the folks retired from the church to devote their time to foreign missions, with UWM, and moved to St. Peters-burg, FL. What a happy time that was for Mother. They had a small home with a swimming pool and were inun-dated with grandchildren coming to visit year round. Some of the grand-children recall the fun they had with Grandma, learning to swim, roller-skating, going to Disney World, and other adventures. When they retired from UWM in 1977 they moved to Charlotte, NC where Penny and Rebecca lived. It just wasn’t possible for them to sit around and do nothing and they had such a love of all the National Workers they had met over the years, so they formed Correll Missionary Mission (CMM) to care for their precious soul winners. These workers already know the language, the diet and customs, and how they loved the Corrells. In 1989 Michael and Karen called and asked them to move to Roanoke, VA. They found a duplex and added a “Florida Room” across the front to

make it family-friendly. They continued their work with CMM and were active as long as their health allowed. Mother had a great life but she also had many sorrows in her life starting in 1957 when her first born, Sidney Robert, a doctor and surgeon, was fa-tally burned in a tragic accident on the mission field in Africa, where he had gone as a Medical Missionary. Her life-long companion died, at home, in 1991, after a long illness. The next year her beautiful granddaughter, Dawn Correll (Kenny’s daughter) was killed in an automobile accident. Her sweet “Rosie” succumbed to cancer in 1994, the same year her son-in-law Mark Smith (Penny’s husband) died after a two-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). In 1995 her son Roger, died after many years of battling cancer. Four months later, her grand-son, Kent Correll, went to be with the Lord. Kent was born with spina bifida and thanks to the loving care of his mother, Shirley, and his brothers, beat all the odds, and lived into his early thirties. Shockingly, in 1993, Michael had also been diagnosed with ALS. He lived five

There is so much more to Helen’s life, the travels abroad to Africa, Vietnam, Philippines, Romania, India, and other countries. Her numerous trips across the U.S.A., many alone, well, not really alone - her constant companion, Jesus Christ, who was with her all of her days. The trips she and Sidney made in their own little airplane. The mission work she did at home, on the radio, witnessing in penitentiaries where she helped rescue one precious soul who was in for life, and much, much more. To read about the rest of the story, ask for her book: “Lady Preacher.”

Mom Correll was an inspiration to me from the very first day that I met her and Dad Correll. She helped bring me back to life. Let me tell you just one of the many ways Mom helped me. Tragedy struck on May 26, 1987 that changed my life forever. My 12-year-old son, Roger, died and I was crushed and devastated. I couldn’t understand how my God could allow this to happen. My faith was shaken beyond words. Because my life was shattered, and I just floated from day to day. I didn’t care if I lived or died. Through my loving God’s help, I met Mi-chael Correll, my husband to be, less than a year after my son’s death. I met Mi-chael’s mother, Rev. Helen Correll, and Wow! She was such a help to me. Not only did she counsel me about God’s love, but she cried with me because she had lost a son as well. I will always remember how she prayed and talked with me to help me regain my strength and to go on with my life. You never get over the loss of a child, but you learn to trust God and to go forward. And to think Mom Correll lost four kids in her lifetime. What a strong lady she was! Of course, she knew she would see them again. Helen Correll’s son, Michael died of Lou Gehrig’s disease. She and I counseled, cried, and supported each other during this time. Two years passed, and my loving God, as before, brought Nicholas Fontana into my life. We were both widow/widowers. Mom Correll loved Nicholas instantly and with her blessings, we were married. Mom Correll helped bring me back to life, and I loved her very much. We were to-gether for over 15 years, and I will miss her humor, her love, her smile and her powerful prayers, but I will see her again one day! I love you, Mom!

Inspiration By Karen Fontana

Editors Note: Helen faithfully persevered through the deaths of children, her husband, several in laws and grandchildren. She kept on when others would have given up, trusting God as her source. She leaves a legacy in her obedience. Though the cost is great, our God is greater still. He has overcome death and so can we. As the Word says, “The enemy is under our feet”.

years battling the disease that took over his muscles one by one and he lost the fight in 1998. The next year Susie Correll (Kenny’s wife) lost her struggle with cancer. Through all these tragedies Helen never wavered in her faith in her Savior, being content that she would see them again some day.

By Clifton & Florence Hoffman

I was eleven years old when ‘Sidney and Helen Correll came to Kenoska. WI. I attended the big Saturday afternoon chil-dren’s rallies that Helen hosted in the Lin-coln Theatre just a block from my home, and there they pioneered the Kenosha Foursquare Church and set up the Great Lakes District Office. Through the years since her graduating from the first class of L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles, Helen had grown many re-markable ministries; puppets, dramas, music, radio and missions. My teen-age years had everything a vibrant growing church could give to make Christian life full and exciting. Marching band, girls’ chorus and even a two year Institute to equip you for a final year in Bible College. In 1935 the Int. Headquarters in California suggested Sidney move his district office further East as it went all the way to the coast. That year I graduated, quite young from high school [barely 17]. I wanted to go to college but was too young. Sidney re-ceived my parents consent to hire me as his first secretary, this gave me some prac-tical experience as well as allowed me a place to grow before I entered college. Helen left for Cleveland, Ohio to be a “supply” pastor for a small congregation of southern folks from Missouri, who met in a store front. This group was Foursquare Lighthouse since 1927. She moved them into a beautiful gothic sanctuary built by the Methodist on Euclid Avenue. This was across the street from the Cleveland Clinic. She had fallen in love with the people, and with the lovely ample facilities of the new building. Helen thought this was the “further east” for the district offices. Mother had not bargained for the distance that I would have to be from home. But

she agreed to let me go and live in their home for that year. In trying to cover Helen’s many ministries, I must add another God given gift that was a one on one ministry. This was not always very visible. Often the only ones who knew about this were the people who were in-volved. This was her personal soul winning ministry. I had observed this through the years that she was my pastor. In the midst of won-derful growth and the structuring of large departments of the church, God would give her a burden for some wayward individu-als, often a prodigal from a Christian fam-ily. She would literally stalk them back to church and to God. I remember Clyde. His two brothers were in church, but he was not. Helen really wanted him for God. Clyde said, “When I saw her coming in the front door, I would run out the back door to tinker with my car, she would meet me smiling in the backyard and boldly remind me that I belonged to God.” After months of her pursuing he promised he would at-tend a special Sunday morning service that Sidney had given some intriguing title. This is where he surrendered his life to the Lord. Clyde went on to become a wonderful pastor and Bible College teacher. Paul was another prodigal from a Christian home. Always a prayer request in our very vibrant youth department, but for Helen he became a personal conquest. Finally she convinced him she just had to have him as Adam in her Christmas production of “Regem Adorate”. Paul had a lovely voice and stature and would be the perfect choice. He surrendered his life to the Lord. He left immediately for our Los Angeles Bible College and pastored a large mis-sions minded church for years in Canton, Ohio.

When Helen arrived in Cleveland, John Hoffman was Sunday School Superinten-dent and most of his family were a part of that warm southern group. All but the 13 year old son, Clifton was not. They moved up from Big Sandy, TN to the big city. Dur-ing his high school years he started earn-ing money singing and playing his guitar with a small band in beer gardens and night clubs. The late evening work, espe-cially Saturday nights kept him from at-tending church. This charming 20 year old man was living at home, but far from the Lord, his real home. Helen started making a habit of southern breakfasts at the Hoff-mans on Monday mornings. Clifton would emerge from his bedroom. She pursued him.

I know her unique personal witnessing was really being a fisher of men. I was not pre-pared to be her bait this time. Even before the family arrived she was in full pursuit of this new conquest. Helen noticed that Clifton would stare at her blonde secretary, [me]. Helen would pretend she needed a chauffeur to help her learn the city. We would appear unannounced in his un-scheduled days. Sunday morning he came to see this young secretary at the piano. That began his willing participation in church events and also my most reluctant involvement in Helen’s “burden”. Once I even appealed to Sidney for help. But the weeks and months of Helen’s persistence and the Holy Spirit’s tugging did that won-derful work in Clifton’s heart. And it came to pass, Clifton came home.

I never got to college but Clifton and I have been married 67 1/2 years; we’ve had a lifetime full of joy. Much of which has come through our being part of the minis-tries God gave to Sidney and Helen Correll. Just a few days before her promotion, to God’s glory, we phoned her and said, “Thank you so much dear Helen for com-ing into our lives and our hearts forever.

“I first met Mom and Dad Correll when I was young girl. While at church camp, Maranatha, Michigan one year Dad Correll prayed for this small timid, young girl that one day she would be a missionary. Many years later after I finished nursing school Mom took me to visit churches in West Virginia. to help me raise support to go to Mali West Africa.

Over the years I was encouraged by reading her book Lady Preacher. Often she sent me encouraging notes. She rejoiced with me when I found the right man, when I left for Guatemala, and when we had our three children, who were born on the mission field in Guatemala.

When we came home to the USA, we visited her and she became like a second grandmother to my chil-dren. Cathy, our daughter, loved her very much. She spent many hours talking with Mom Correll. Cathy had a picture that Mom gave her several years ago at the top of her bed. We had prayed to see her again this year but God had a better plan for her. Mom Correll, Sidney, Robert and Michael are all together in a much better place. Rejoicing at the feet of Jesus. We shall miss her smile and words of encouragement. THE CORRELL FAMILY HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO A LOST AND DYING WORLD AND MAY CMM CON-TINUE ON IN THIS SAME SPIRIT OF TRUE MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD WITH THAT SAME PIONEER SPIRIT OF STEPING OUT IN FAITH WITH GOD.”

“I was in tears to know of Helen Correll’s home going. We are so grateful for her exemplary life and love of God and His work. But we are all comforted to know that death to her is gain. Truly, we have lost one general in God's army. But she's gone to her REWARD. We in the Phil-ippines are especially praying for Penny, Becky and the entire family. We send our love and our heartfelt condolences. How we wish we could be there with you all to pay our last respect to our dear Mom Correll.”

OUR CO-LABORER In Christ

Helen Correll will be missed by the RASSMANN family and the Mission workers at Bahraich India. She was a great lady and she devoted her whole life to the Lord Jesus and the work which she planted at Bahraich will be carried on, as it has been such a blessing to the poor and needy. Many people have come to know the Lord Jesus day by day through this work.”

“Helen Correll was truly 'one of a kind'...always cheerful, always positive, funny, claiming and proclaiming the promises of our Lord, and putting her "Faith" into everyday action. She preached at our first church in Ohio, she preached for us at our mission field 'church plant' in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa where she raked our construction site, wrote 500 postcards to sponsors in a week and always had time to encourage us missionaries. Words fail us to ex-press our genuine love and gratitude for a 20th Century Saint. How she loved people, how she trusted our Lord and what strength and courage she showed to us all by constantly keeping "Eternity's Values in Full View." The world won't canonize her....but Jesus did! What a saint, what a co-worker, what a soul winner! We are full of humorous stories...too many to tell...but all because she loved and served her Lord and loved us, too! Heaven is rejoicing and we are too....for we can only imagine the 'celebration' going on as she arrived. Can't wait to spend eternity with her and Sid...and all the rest who have gone before. May those who come behind us find us faithful, too. As Will would say "GLORY!" (Will and Nancy Chandler, served 31 years with United World Mission “.)

“It is with a mixture of joy and sorrow that we hear of the homegoing of our precious sister in the Lord, "Mom" Correll. Jan and I have many fond memories of Sister Helen and Brother Sid-ney Correll. They were a great blessing to us in the early days of Trinity Broadcasting Network. We will all miss "Mom," as will her family and her many spiritual sons and daughters all over the world. But, we know she has been welcomed home into the loving arms of her precious Savior Jesus Christ. We know she has already heard those wonderful words, "Well done, good and faithful servant"! So, though "Mom's" homegoing leaves an empty place here on earth, her entrance into heaven brings added joy and blessing. We rejoice that we will see her again soon when are all gathered around the throne of God!”

10 Helen EllioTt Correll—Remembering

Mrs. Helen Correll was a blessing to me. She and Dr. Correll were instrumental in getting me to the mission field of Kenieba, Mali and Dakar, Senegal where I served as a missionary for many years. I also went with them on a mission trip to Europe while I was studying French in Paris, France. I am now retired and the Senegal Church Planting Team Representative. I am grateful for the interest Sidney and Helen took in me and for their love for people. Ruby Clarke, Senegal Church Planting Team Representative I had the privilege of growing up, in the Christian Tabernacle under the ministry of Sidney and Helen Correll. I remember receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit when I was nine in the base-ment of the church. Also being the first to be baptized in water by Dr. Correll, when the church was complete. I remember the Corrells singing together, “On the Jericho Road” and yodeling as well. I watched them hold hands and prayed that I would have a marriage like that. I loved Helen’s ministry as much as Sidney’s, both very missions minded. In 1947 a handsome young man started coming to our church. He gave his heart to the Lord, now he is my wonderful husband of 55 years, yes, I received the desire of my heart, a wonderful marriage. The ministry of Helen Cor-rell was a foundation of my 67 years of serving Jesus. 38 years of that time, my husband Mason and I have been missionaries. The seeds were planted under the Correll ministry and have come to fruit in Papua New Guinea. We love both Helen and Sidney Correll very much and will see them in heaven one day soon. Dr. & Mrs. Mason [Virgene] Hughs, Missionaries to Papua New Guinea I met Helen and Sydney when I was a 2 year short term missionary in Dakar, Senegal. They came at Christmas, I believe in 1982. When they came to my home for dinner I made a Boston cream pie (my one and only!) and we so delighted in the fellowship as well as eating the pie, It was a wonder-ful memory. Dr. Correll always called me "Jeanette with the blue eyes". The love of God flowed from them to everyone they met. They were so kind. They always made me feel as though I was the only person that was important. Helen and Sidney made quite an impression on this young mis-sionary. I grew to love them so in the few days they spent with us. I have kept in touch with Helen Correll from time to time. I got such a kick out of her "glamour shot" photo with the roses when she turned 90! I thought it was fabulous and decided that I should do the same thing myself. I ad-mire Helen’s compassion, intense love for Jesus, zest for life and the incredible energy. Our hope is now her life...heaven and being with the Lord Jesus Christ. I miss her so and pray the Lord Him-self will give her family tangible comfort. Jeanette Chaffee (Beck), Missionary Only eternity will reveal all the aspects of what the life and words of Sidney and Helen Correll meant in my life. They were the inspiration of my missionary call, and the encouragement along the way. The rewards waiting for them in their heavenly home are well deserved. Thelma Wagner Sidney and Helen Correll were my pastors in the 30’s during my early years at Christian Taberna-cle in Dayton, Ohio. She married my brother Roger Slater and my sister Lois at the church. The Corrells held a tent meeting and I believe that is where I gave my heart to the Lord. The Corrells influenced my entire family. All but Roger graduated from Life Bible College. I miss the Christian Tabernacle Church family and would like to make contact with anyone who reads this. Marjorie Rice Mrs. Correll was willing to help anyone- stranger or friend. I remember in particular a man named John. She took him under her wing and saw his life changed. Mrs. Hugh McCracken Tom and I greatly admire Sidney and Helen Correll. Their love for the Lord and concern for people as well as preaching God’s Word to the “regions beyond” was an example to us all. We are so grate-ful for their encouragement to us. Tom and Pat Dentel

Thank you for all the many testimonies that were sent on behalf of Rev. Helen Correll. It was so wonderful to read the fruit of her life. We apologize that we could not include every single one as there were so many. God bless you for your loving hearts. CMM Staff Special Moments

When I was about 11 years old, I went to Helen’s tent meeting in Fullerton. I shall never forget the men’s quartet from Angeles Temple, [Sidney was one of the members]. We had a prayer meeting in the Correll’s home. They lived upstairs and the children’ s church, of which I was a part of, met in the hall. This is where I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Helen had been writing to me, and I will miss her very much. Ferne [Sarles] Bernick My dear friend Helen Correll was the Matron of Honor at our wedding, March 1932 in Kenosha, WI. Dr Sidney Correll performed the ceremony, his dad was best man and Robert was the ring bearer. Sidney appointed us to our first pastorate. She will be dearly missed. My husband, Dr. Howard Courtney has recently gone to heaven along with the Corrells. Mrs Howard P. Courtney Our family met Sidney and Helen Correll in the 40’s as we lived close to each other on the farms east of New Lebanon Ohio. Helen was on the radio, “Wings Over Dayton”. We also visited Christian Tabernacle regularly. World missions became a part of our prayers and giving. We remember walking with Helen through the deaths of her children and Sidney. What a dear family and what a joy to have known them for 60 years. Their work and their love of the Lord will go on. Helen was so special to my wife and me. She taught us much about giving of yourself. May the seeds planted by UWM, CMM and all the projects continue to be fruit until Jesus comes back. James Norris, Sr. I have shed many tears concerning the passing of Helen Correll. I will miss her and the personal letters she often sent my way. But these tears are also tears of joy. That she is not suffering any-more. Also tears of joy that she is with her Precious Jesus and her beloved husband and children. I have supported and followed the Corrells since 1947 in Dayton, Ohio. I listened to the program, “Wings Over Dayton”, and the Lady Sky Pilot, Helen Correll. I have the greatest respect and love for her and Dr. Correll. May God bless and carry on the work. Martha Goodbar May the God of all comfort be with you at this time of Helen’s passing. I have pastored for 60 years and am now a retired foursquare pastor. I am in my 90’s, housebound in body only. Occasionally, I would see Helen or we would correspond, sharing victories. I have her book, “Lady Preacher”. We knew many of the same people, to God be the glory. I know you will continue to spread the Word of God and complete the work that has been started by those of us who have gone before, as our earthly journeys are completed. Marie Voris Just a note of sympathy to you and all the staff at CMM in the passing of “Mom” Correll. I know we all are rejoicing in the knowing that she is at peace and in a better place. Mabel Hester My wife Olga and I [Alvin Fast], were beginning our first pastorate in Nebraska when Dr. Correll visited our small congregation one Sunday in July 1945. With boldness he told our congregation “You folks could always find a couple that would pastor your church, but this young couple be-longs on the mission field.” A few months later we sold our earthly belongings and headed for Day-ton, Ohio. Helen and Sidney were so gracious. They encouraged us to take a year study of Span-ish, then they sent us off to Cuba. We have many fond memories of Helen speaking to our group of believers in Caracas, Venezuela, after our services in Communist Cuba came to an end. She was always so encouraging , appreciating our work and having us to speak on her radio program “Wings Over Dayton”. We still have a copy of her interview concerning our call to missions that is on a 78 RPM record while on her radio broadcast of 1945. Dr. Correll requested my visiting several Bible training schools in Cuba and by the Fall of 1947 classes began and the preparing of Cuban young people continued until all missionaries departed in 1960. The Lord watched over His people there, as many house churches have multiplied and many young people in Cuba receive training and the Lord has prospered that very mission field that the Correll’s had envisioned in 1940.

The Ministry

PRAY THIS PRAYER RIGHT NOW: "Jesus, I know you love me and You want me to spend eternity with You in heaven. I believe You came to earth to show me how to live, re-ceive forgiveness, and have an abundant life, full of love, fruitful-ness, and peace with great joy. I believe that You died on the cross so that I wouldn't have to go through the punishment I deserve for my sins. Thank you for dying in my place. Thank you that You love me. I want to know you personally, so I receive You now as Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You that all my sins are now forgiven. Make me the kind of person I should be, the kind of person You want me to be, and thank You that I will spend eternity in heaven with You."

Mom closed her book by saying, "let me be your praying grand-mother". We are grateful for this praying grandmother, who has gone on to be with the Lord. She is in heaven now, but we here at CMM want to take up the legacy of prayer for you. If you prayed this prayer, please let us know so we can pray for you. We love you and want the best for you, as we do for all our friends and partners. We pray that you too would fulfill your destiny from the Lord, according to His will, as Rev Helen ‘Mom’ Correll lived her life to the fullest; faithful always, and full of praise for our Lord, even until her last breath.

The Secret If there is a secret, I believe it is because I have tried to live Matthew 22:37-39:

"Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with

all your soul and with all of your mind. This is the first and great comand-

ment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

What I want most of all is to have

the assurance that your name is

written in God's book of life! There

are so many of you, and you live so

far apart, we never could have a

complete get-together. But let me

leave you with a reminder. We, who

know the Lord, will have a great re-

union in that place Christ went to

prepare for us. (John 14:3) The best

part is that we will be with HIM;

heaven is our eternal home. Some

of our loved ones are already there.

How beautiful heaven will be! How

wonderful to see their faces! How

blessed to be with the King forever!

Please, don't miss it!

"Lord, help me live from day to day

In such a self-forgetful way

That even when I kneel to pray

My prayer shall be for others.

Help me in all the work I do,

To ever be sincere and true,

And know that all I'd do for You

Must need be done for others.

Let 'self be crucified and slain

And buried deep; and all in vain

May efforts be to rise again

Unless to live for others.

And when my work on earth is done,

And my new work in heaven begun,

May I forget the crown I've won

While thinking still of others.”
