IntroductionRelocation Guide

Kent Relocation Services (KRS) is the chosen provider for the QLD Government, specialising in the provision of Removal Brokerage Services.

There is a section to record your high value items, that is items with a value in excess of $2,000. It is important that you record the correct value for your items. A simple guide is to ask yourself “How much would it cost me to go and buy a replacement for this item?”.

You can also list any extra items on the inventory, add them and your helpful Kent Relocation Services contact will guide you and answer any questions.

Kent Relocation Services will make all of the arrangements for you, but we need you to do a few things too.

Our accredited suppliers will pack all of your belongings in your home but you must pack your own personal items. Don’t worry, all cartons including port-a-robes for your clothes will be provided to you.

Once you have access to the AMS, get ready to use our interactive inventory. Create your home profile with the rooms that you require. Our AMS is designed to make it easy for you and you can walk around your home using a tablet, your mobile or your laptop computer. Once you have created your home profile, record the furniture you have in each room. Don’t worry about the packable items that need to go in a carton, just list their value in the packables section of the inventory. The AMS will automatically save your inventory after each item so don’t worry if you lose connectivity.

Inventory timeframe Please make sure that you complete the inventory as soon as you can, it’s best to aim for a minimum two weeks prior to your required removal day.

Inventory accuracy It is important that we get the inventory as accurate as possible as this is used to get the quotations for your employer.

What happens next?What happens next?

Once you submit your inventory your friendly Relocation Coordinator will call you and go through it with you.

They will ask you questions to make sure the inventory is as accurate as possible as this way we get the best outcomes for you and your employer.

Once the inventory is complete Kent Relocation Services will tender this to the market to get the best removalist for your needs.

Don’t worry, if you want to know what is happening log back into the AMS and the current status of your move will be shown.

Once we have a Removalist locked in we will call you and let you know.

Sit back and wait until your move day.

The Removalist will arrange a time to visit in advance, where possible, to confirm what goods you have. Take this opportunity to have a chat and see how it will all come together.

If you are entitled to have your vehicle relocated you will see this in your AMS access. Don’t worry Kent Relocation Services can always check to see what your entitlements are and even arrange car movements if you wish to move them at your own cost.

• Worried about your car? Speak to Kent Relocation Services about insurance options

• Kent Relocation Services always aims to move your vehicle from door to door

• Remove all personal belongings as this may cause delays or cancelation of the vehicle movement

• Fitted child seats and spare tyres are fine but if in doubt ask your Relocation Coordinator

• Need a caravan, boat or trailer moved? Ask us! We can move anything you need.

Moving your carMoving your car

If you are entitled to have your pet move with you, you will see this in your AMS Access. If not don’t worry as Kent Relocation Services can arrange it for you, at your own cost.

Moving House Do’sWhether you are storing for short term or long term, there are important considerations to ensure the longevity of your goods. Kent Relocation Services Do’s & Don’ts guide will help keep you and your family safe.

Bedroom• Remove all linen and pillows from

all beds.

• Disassembly and reassembly of conventional beds is part of our removal service.

Workshop & OutdoorsGarden Equipment

• Outside effects such as garbage bins, lawn mowers, tools must be cleaned of all soil, grass, vegetation to comply with quarantine.

• Disconnect appliances from the power and water supply prior to storage.

Washing machines • Drain the appliance and hoses of all

water and dry the machine.

• Most machine bowls must be secured with manufacturers machine stabiliser bolts.

• Only foods that are fully sealed and unused are accepted for storage.

Fridges and Freezers• Defrost your fridge and freezer 24

hours before storage.

• Place a roll of toilet paper at the bottom to absorb excess moisture.

Lounge• Prepare dismantling of wall units

and unconventional furniture items, including blinds, curtains, other fittings prior to loading day.

• Pack pictures and mirrors in appropriate specialised cartons.

General Information Packing tips

• Clearly mark and label every box including the room and contents and clearly mark fragile cartons.

• Pack heavy items first so they don’t crush lighter items or cause the box to tilt.

• Ensure carton is packed full, use crushed paper at the bottom and top of the carton.

Delivery• It is important that you or someone acting

for you (your agent) be present when we both uplift and deliver your goods to correctly direct in the placement of furniture and cartons.

General Information • Don’t leave anything loose, if it fits in a

box pack it, otherwise Kent Relocation Services can provide custom crating for large, oddly shaped or valuable items.

Custom crating will be at the employee’s expense. Qld Govt will not cover or reimburse for custom crating.

• Don’t overload boxes

Refer to Kent Relocation Services professional packers to pack any fragile items.

• Plastic tubs and garbage bags should not be used for packing or transportation.

• No flammable liquids or hazardous items including gas bottles (including Sodastream bottles), lighters and batteries.

• Preparation of appliances are not part of our removals service.

• Perishable or opened items will not be accepted for relocation.

• Sharp objects must be properly wrapped to prevent them protruding from the moving boxes. CORN

Equipment • LPG bottles can be moved provided

they are completely empty and have been purged with a certificate attached.

• Lawn movers and other gardening equipment can be moved, provided all fuel and oil is emptied (state restrictions apply).

• Scuba tanks can only be moved if completely empty.

• Fire extinguishers, heaters and lamps must be emptied of fuel using appropriate method.

• Remove batteries from all appliances.

Dangerous/Prohibited Goods The following goods cannot be relocated:

• Household cleaning products

• Aerosol cans

• Matches

• Pesticides, fertilisers, weedkillers

• Paints, Paint thinners Methylated spirits, Turpentine

• Petrol, Kerosene

• Photographic chemicals

• Swimming pool treatments

• Chemistry sets

• Firearms & Ammunition

• Explosives

You or your agent must be present at all times and they must be over 18 as you will have to sign a receipt for your goods.

If you leave your home the removalists will have to stop working as they cannot be responsible for the safety of your home or possessions unsupervised.

• You will walk around your home with the Removalists, take this opportunity to advise what will not be going. They will have a copy of your inventory but you must make sure that all eligible items are collected.

• Don’t forget you must pack your own personal items including clothes.

• Don’t forget your receipt! This receipt (Inventory Condition Report) records all of your items and their condition when the removalists collect them.

• Make sure you dismantle any items that require it although the removalist will dismantle your beds but not your little ones cots.

What happens on moving day?

Make sure you tell us your delivery address in advance.

Remember, just like on your moving day, you must also be present on your delivery day as you will sign for receipt of your goods back into your possession. If you are unable to be present, an agent or representative acting for you must be present.

• Unpacking: Don’t forget your service includes an unpack to a clear surface. Any boxes which the removalists pack they will unpack them to clear surfaces i.e. benches and table tops.

• Damages: Work with the removalists and put the items in the drawers and cupboards and make sure any damages are noted on your receipt (ICR). Your receipt will form a part of any insurance claims so make sure it is correct.

• Assembling items: If the removalists dismantled your bed on your move day they will put it back together on delivery.

DeliveryDay

Don’t forget if you have any questions feel free to call your Relocation Coordinator at any time. Once you are happy that everything is delivered and in its proper place remember to sign and date your receipt.

What happens on delivery day?

You will receive a link to complete a customer satisfaction report. Please take the time to complete this as Kent Relocation Services will use this to improve its service delivery.

You will also be asked to rate your Removalist out of 5 stars, please do so as Kent Relocation Services will utilise this to create a rating for all of its suppliers. Remember, just like on your moving day, you or your agent must

Should you be in the unfortunate position that you need to make an insurance claim, remember to document the damages on the ICR and notify Kent Relocation Services.
