dead6. Synagogue centered7. Accepted the Torah & the Prophets as inspired
Sadducees – 1. Wealthy ruling class denied afterlife & final
judgment of the living & the dead2. Originally in charge of the Ark of the Covenant3. Were priests & aristocrats4. Temple centered activity5. Accepted only the Torah as inspired6. Did not believe in the resurrection of the dead7. Did not believe in the immortality of the soul, or
in angels8. After 70 AD, they died out. Why?
Essenes 1. Broke w/conventional Judaism 2. Went into the desert to await the end3. Put all their hope in God.
