THE CREATION STORY

In the beginning the world was dark and formless. There was no life and no one to care for the earth.

Page 5: Religious Literacy Assessment

1st Day

Then God said, “let there be light” and there was light. He separated the light from the darkness and called the light ‘Day’ and the darkness he called ‘Night’. Night went and day came, this was the first day. I can relate this to my life because I need to have a rest each night after being at school and working all day.

2nd Day

Then God said “let there be a dome to cover over all the land”. He called the dome the ‘Sky’ and he wanted to have water in the sky and under the sky, so that is what was done. Now, when I look up at the sky I see that it is home to all birds that can fly.

3rd Day

God said, “let the water below the sky

come together and let dry land appear. Dry land appeared, the land was a divider for the water, he called the water ‘Sea’ and the dry land ‘Earth’. I walk upon my home the earth each day, at its edge is the sea.

3rd Day Continued

Then God said “let the land produce all different types of plants and flowers and let wheat and all other kind of fruits and foods grow” and that is exactly what happened. Night went and day came and that was the third day.

4th Day

Then God said “let there be two bigger lights so that you can tell all the different events and all of the seasons” the Sun and Moon formed. Night went and day came, this was the fourth day.

5th Day

Then God said “let the water below the sky be filled with all different types of fish and creatures”. He included sharks, whales and many different fish. He created many kinds of birds to fill the sky. This was the fifth day.

6th Day

Then God said, “let the land produce all different types of of animals, domestic and wild. He told all the animals to reproduce and soon there was a life cycle. Each day as I look around this world God has created I see many of God’s creatures great and small.

6th Day Continued

But God felt something was missing so he added Man and Woman to enjoy and take care of all he had created. Today we have the responsibility to care for the Earth and all God has created. We need to keep it safe for future generations.

7th Day

God looked around and saw what he had made and he was happy. In just six days the whole universe was complete. On the seventh day God rested and enjoyed looking at all he created. We have the opportunity each day to enjoy what God created with work, play and rest!

MY PLACE IN CREATION

• God made humans on the 6th day he gave us a job and made them care takers of the earth. We have to love and care for the animals and all other living things. We have to do the right thing and help the animals.

HELPING GODS CREATION

(1).You can donate money to the RSPCA and take better care of all your pets. You need to make sure they have water, food and, if it is a dog, walk it and give it love and care. This is taking care of Gods’ Creation because we are showing God we care for his Creation and that we are responsible for it. God created humans and gave them a role to play. If we care for Gods Creation it will be there for future generations.

Page 23: Religious Literacy Assessment

(2). You should dispose of rubbish properly and not pollute, instead you should find the closest bin and dispose of your rubbish correctly. If you don’t, it could go into the water and an animal could choke, and maybe die. This would not be caring for Gods’ Creation, God gave us a job and he made humans responsible for the environment and expected us to do the right thing. God trusted us, make him proud!

HELPING GOD’S

CREATION. (3).Join a group like W.I.R.E.S that helps

injured or hurt wild animals. They might have been on the side of the road and been hit by a car or motor bike. You can help W.I.R.E.S, if you see a hurt animal on the side of the road, pick it up and call 1800 W.I.R.E.S and they will tell you the closest W.I.R.E.S volunteer and you can take the animal to get help.

• When I Leave the room I will always turn off the lights and open the the blind instead. This will help the environment because it will save electricity.

Page 28: Religious Literacy Assessment

• I will always sort through my rubbish and recycle whatever is recyclable. This will help the environment because I will be using less paper and be saving trees from being cut down as well as reusing materials.

Page 29: Religious Literacy Assessment

Dear Lord

You created the light and darkness. You separated day from night. You separated the sun from the sky. With the moon and the stars to fill the night. You planted seeds which became beautiful flowers. You created water to hold all the fish and creatures in the sea.

You made birds and animals. Then you created ME. I give you thanks and praise.

Page 31: Religious Literacy Assessment

I ask myself who makes the earth spin?

The grass grow? The animals walk? The flowers full of life? Our are hearts full, Lord. You are the most high, the most

powerful. I'm yours and you are mine.

I love your creation, thank you. AMEN ENDINGThank you for watching.
