THIS WEEK’S CALENDAR

Through the Lord’s Supper, Jesus comes to us and grants us His eternal gifts! As we prepare to receive the Lord’s Supper, God’s Word encourages us to examine ourselves. The following questions can help you as you prepare to receive the Lord and His gifts: 1) Do you believe that you are a sinner whose hope for eternal life comes from

Christ alone? Romans 3:23-24 2) Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and your Savior? Matt. 16:15-17 3) Do you believe that Jesus is present in this sacred meal to grant His forgiveness?

Matthew 26:26-28

4) Do you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, desire to live a godly life in response to

the Lord’s grace and goodness? Romans 12:1-2

Pastor Bo Brink

Monday – We are focusing on the kingly details of Palm Sunday. According to Zech 9:9 and Matt 21:5, who was riding into Jerusalem on that donkey? Why a lowly donkey and not a powerful, white steed? Tuesday – v8 – In those days, people welcomed kings with certain, special acts. What two acts of royal homage were the people doing as Jesus rode into town? Wednesday – v10 – With respect to kings, shouting “Hosanna” could mean two things, one a prayer and one a praise. What did they mean as they shouted this to Jesus? Thursday – v10 – The crowd call Jesus “Son of David.” Who was David? As his descendant, Jesus was in line to become what? Friday – Jesus was the “Prophesied King” (II Sam. 7:13; Zech. 9:9; etc.), and the Baby King (Luke 1:31-33; Matt. 2:2; etc.), and “The Mistaken Bread King” (John 6:15); and “The Suffering King of Sinners” (Matt 27:29); and “The King with a different Kingdom” (John 18:36); “The Judging King” (Matt 25:31-46); and “The King of Heaven” (Rev 5:12). Which picture of King Jesus do you like best? Why? Saturday – What does it mean for us today to say, “Jesus is the King of my life”?

Receive the King

Jesus is “The King” in many different ways. As we learn about them today, which one is your favorite?

What does it mean to you to say, “Jesus is the King of my life”?

Matthew 21: 1-11
