    THE LAST TIME

    Last Meeting

    REDSKINS 9 - RAMS 7September 20, 2009 - FedEx Field

The Rams played in their second consecutive road game, trav-

eling to take on NFC East contenders Washington Redskins, los-

    ing 9-7.

QB Marc Bulger became the Rams all-time leader in pass com-

pletions with 1,848 on a 3-yard pass to RB Steven Jackson in thefirst quarter. Bulger surpassed QB Jim Everetts 1,847 pass

completions, tallied from 1986-93. Bulger completed 15 passes

in the game to give him 1,861 for his career. Bulgers 2-yard

touchdown pass to WR Laurent Robinson in the second quarter

gave Bulger his 118th career touchdown pass, tying him with

Norm Van Brocklin (1949-57) for third all-time in Rams history.

RB Steven Jackson rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries. The

100-yard game was Jacksons 17th of his career. With the per-

formance, Jackson has 5,462 career rushing yards, surpassing

RB Dick Bass (5,417) for fourth all-time in Rams history.

Jacksons 58-yard run in the second quarter was the second

longest of his career, behind only his 59-yard touchdown run at

    Minnesota (12/31/06).

In the first half of play, the Redskins were forced to kick two field

goals after the Rams defense held them in the red zone. In the

second quarter, the Rams engineered their first scoring drive of

the season, scoring on a touchdown pass to WR Laurent

Robinson to cap a 10-play, 84 yard drive and marking

Robinsons first touchdown as a Ram. The 84-yard scoring drive

was the Rams longest scoring drive since an 18-play, 97-yard

drive that resulted in a touchdown vs. Seattle (12/14/08).

The Rams recorded their second consecutive game with a take-

away as CB Ron Bartell recovered a fumble by Redskins WR

Santana Moss in the second quarter. DE James Hall started at

right defensive end and recorded the Rams first sack of the sea-

son, a takedown of Redskins QB Jason Campbell for a 4-yard

loss that pinned the Redskins on their own 1-yard line in the

fourth quarter. However, the Redskins managed a third field

goal in the third quarter to put them on top for good, 9-7.

DE James Halls sack of Jason Campbell at the Redskins 1-yard line gave the

Rams a chance to take a fourth-quarter lead last September but St. Louis fell short.

    JACK OF ALL TRADES

    RB Steven Jackson

Two weeks ago, Sam Bradford became the first rookie to start atquarterback in Week 1 for the Rams since Bill Munson did so in1964. The top overall pick in Aprils draft won the starting job intraining camp and has impressed the Rams in his first two starts.

Here are some highlights from Bradfords rookie season:

Bradfords first career pass went for a 19-yard completion to WRMark Clayton, a fellow Oklahoma alum who was also making hisRams debut.

Bradfords first career touchdown pass was a one-yard strike to WRLaurent Robinson on 4th-and-goal on the final play of the first half.

The 2008 Heisman Trophy winner turned in his first multi-touch-down game of his career when he threw two scoring strikes lastweek against the Raiders. Both touchdown passes went to Clayton.

Bradfords 55 attempts and 32 completions in the season openerare the most ever by an NFL quarterback making his first career

    start.

    BRADFORDS BEGINNING

    Quarterback Sam Bradford is the

    ninth Heisman Trophy winner to

either play for the Rams or be draft-

    ed by the organization. Bradford

won the award following the 2008

season, one in which he passed for

    4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns

    with just eight interceptions.

In April, Bradford became the 14th

    Heisman Trophy winner drafted

number one overall and the first

    since Cincinnati Bengals took

Carson Palmer with the top pick in

    2003.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR IN 2010

RB Steven Jackson is within striking range of becoming the Rams

all-time leading rusher. Jackson needs just 97 yards to move intosecond place ahead of Marshall Faulk, and with 383 yards, Jackson

will supplant Eric Dickerson as the franchises all-time leader. In his

first six NFL seasons, Jackson averaged 1,117.8 rushing yards per

    season.

Jackson currently ranks fifth in team history in career yards from

scrimmage. He needs 611 yards to move past Henry Ellard on thatlist.

Jackson caught four passes in Week 2 to run his career total to

289 career receptions. He ranks ninth in team history in receptions,48 behind Jim Phillips, who currently ranks eighth.

Should Jackson lead the Rams in rushing, hell tie Faulks record

for most seasons and most consecutive seasons leading the club in

rushing (six). S Oshiomogho Atogwe enters the season with 19 career inter-

ceptions. He needs seven to move into a tie for 10th on the fran-

    chises all-time list.

LB James Laurinaitis can join Pisa Tinoisamoa as the only play-

ers in team history to lead the Rams in tackles in each of their first

    two NFL season.

P Donnie Jones looks to record a net average of at least 40 yardsper punt for a third-consecutive season. In both 2008 and 2009,

Jones net average was 41.7 yards per punt. Jones is currently

second in the NFL with a gross average of 49.5 yards per punt.

    ON THE MARK

WR Mark Clayton has made quite a

splash since joining the Rams just two

    weeks ago.

Last week in Oakland, Clayton caught

two passes, both of which went for

touchdowns. It was his second two-touchdown performance of his career

and first since Nov. 12, 2006 - his sec-

ond NFL season - when he found the

    end zone twice against Tennessee.

In his Rams debut Week 1 against the

Cardinals, Clayton led the Rams with 10

catches for 119 yards. The impressive outing came just six da

after he was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens. His 1

receiving yards were the most ever by a player making their Ra

    debut.

Claytons 10 receptions in Week 1 set a new single-game high

the sixth-year pro, besting his previous total of eight, which

reached three different times while with Baltimore. Five of Clayto

10 catches went for first downs, and his 36-yard grab set up Q

Sam Bradfords first career touchdown pass.

Clayton boasts 10 career games with 100 receiving yards and

Rams debut and was his fifth-highest single-game total.

On the season, Clayton leads the Rams in receptions (12), rece

ing yards (143) and touchdowns (2).

BLOCK PARTYLast April, the Rams were thrilled to find

Indiana T Rodger Saffold available at the

top of the second round. St. Louis chose

Saffold with the 33rd overall pick and

quickly inserted him in the starting lineup.

Saffold has started each of the Rams first

two games, and the former Hoosier is one

of just two NFL rookies to start a game at

left tackle this season. Washingtons Trent

Williams, the fourth overall selection in

Aprils draft, was the other, and his team

visits the Edward Jones Dome this week.

    WR Mark Clayton

    T Rodger Saffold

    DANDY DANNY

In his first NFL season, WR Danny Amendola became the Rams

season record holder for kickoff returns, kickoff return yards, com-

bined kick returns and total return yards.

Amendola continues to have an impact on special teams but has

become a big part of the offense as well. In the Rams season

opener, the Texas Tech alum finished second on the team with six

catches and set a new single-game career high with 67 yards. He

followed that performance up with a four-catch, 39-yard outing

against the Raiders and has 10 grabs for 106 yards on the season.

    ROLLIN WITH NOLAN

The Rams have just one new member

on their coaching staff this season, but

the new face is a very familiar one to the

    organization. In February, Steve

    Spagnuolo hired former Rams All-Pro

safety Nolan Cromwell to coach the

    clubs wide receivers.

A second-round draft choice by the

Rams, Cromwell played his entire 11-

year NFL career (1977-87) for the Rams'organization. He earned Pro Bowl honors

four times, was named NFC Defensive

Player of the Year in 1980, and was

named NFL Defensive Back of the Year by Football Digest in 1984.

He ended his NFL career as the Rams all-time leader in intercep-

tion return yardage with 671 yards on 37 interceptions. He played

in Super Bowl XIV against the Steelers after the 1979 season.

Cromwells coaching tenure has lead him to three Super Bowls and

four NFC West Division titles. During his time at Green Bay,

Cromwell helped Pro Bowler Antonio Freeman lead the NFL in

1998 with 1,424 receiving yards on 84 catches.

One of the biggest moves the Rams made this offseason wasacquisition of veteran DT Fred Robbins, and the addition of the year pro has paid early dividents.

In his Rams debut, Robbins recorded three tackles, one tackleloss and a sack. Last week in Oakland, Robbins dropped RB DaMcFadden for a 3-yard loss on a third-and-1 play that forced Raiders to attempt a long field goal, which they missed.

Robbins came to the Rams after six seasons with the New YGiants. During two of those seasons, current Rams Head CoSteve Spagnuolo was the Giants defensive coordinator. Its no ccidence that those two campaigns were perhaps the best of Robbcareer as he tied his career high with 5.5 sacks in each of those ssons and was a Pro Bowl Alternate in 2008.
