• The use of Systemic Approaches to Integrated Water Resources Management throughout the region among local authorities, other decision-makers, researchers, experts, practitioners and other stakeholders has improved

The project is adequately managed and administered The Regional Water Knowledge Network (RWKN) has been established Lessons learned of successful demo projects applying systemic

Knowledge, insights and awareness on systemic approaches to sustainable water resource management has been increased, shared and disseminated

Guiding papers on systemic approaches that could be applied to Natural Resources Management have been developed and distributed

The capacity of local authorities to use systemic approaches has been strengthened

RWKN DEVELOPMENT

The Regional Water Knowledge Network (RWKN) is an organized interaction between institutions who have a common interest and who are looking to increase the effectiveness of their work.

The aim of the RWKN is to foster capacity building, shared learning, networking and exchange of experience between the major actors in the water sector to promote systemic approaches to IWRM.

RWKN DEVELOPMENT– Promoting systemic approaches to IWRM.– Mutual learning and networking to support each

other with each others’ specific knowledge and excellence;

– Encouraging cooperation between institutions in the Arab region and connecting RKWN nodes with other global and regional water initiatives and institutions.

– Documenting what is learned and capitalizing on know-how in existing institutions in the region.

– Organizing around specific water resource systems relevant for the region with demonstration projects as learning ground.

– Joint development of new ideas, activities and projects

– Embarking on multi-stakeholder platforms at different levels (watershed, national, regional).

• To be of value, these sub-networks must improve the effectiveness of all the members participating in it and will contribute to:

– Encouraging mentoring relationships between the more established member organizations and the less experienced ones.

– Avoiding duplication of efforts by sharing knowledge.– Ensuring efforts complement each other. – Enhancing opportunities for collaboration on projects.– Allowing understanding of common issues. – Increasing possibilities for mutual learning experiences.– Improving access to knowledge.– Benefiting from common fund raising and use of resources.– Boosting the effectiveness of lobbying and advocacy.– Mobilizing additional staff and financial resources, and making better use of

existing resources.
