A NOTE FROM YOUR CONVENTION PLANNING TEAM Well it’s not long to go now before we welcome everyone back to Hobart for another exciting

convention and competition. With 25 quartets and 17 choruses registered to compete, it promises

to be another full few days. We have just on 700 individuals registered to participate.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of our Region, and we look forward to celebrating that

significant milestone in style on Saturday night at our Afterglow party.

We have a packed and diverse program of educational masterclasses on Sunday morning. We would

encourage you to attend these, as the chance for getting expert coaching from our esteemed panel

of judges is a great opportunity for skills development and growth.

This year we have our Regional AGM scheduled for early Sunday morning, and we would encourage

all choruses to be represented at the meeting.

As always, if you have any queries about anything please do not hesitate contact any one of your

Convention Planning Committee:

Kate Hawkins Events Coordinator [email protected]

Chris Jones Competition Coordinator [email protected]

Linda Britts Chair of Regional Convention [email protected]

So travel safe, see you soon, and stay fit and well in the lead up to our favourite week of the year!

Yours in harmony,

Kate, Chris and Linda

MARKETING AWARDS 2019 Is your Chorus and Quartet bringing their award entry materials to display in Hobart!

To those creative and strategic geniuses in your chorus who are sharing their best marketing work

with us for our display in Hobart … thank you!

Bring your entry to display in Hobart. This is important! You will need to deliver an A3 or A2 print

out of your entry to the RMT desk in Hobart on the Wednesday before contest begins so that we can

display it at Wrest Point. Any captions or information should be in a large font and able to be read

easily from display board.

Now, very important. Did you send an entry and NOT receive an acknowledgement from Anna-

Marie? If you don’t receive an email, it is important that you follow up with her immediately.

Similarly, if you wanted to send in an entry and couldn’t make the deadline, get in touch with her.

If there is any way we can include your chorus’s work in this display, we want to. We’ll work out a

way together if we possibly can

Let’s see every chorus in Region 34 represented in the Marketing Award gallery display in Hobart

2019!

MIC TESTING QUARTET Shenanigans is honoured to be invited to be your

mic-testing quartet for Hobart 2019! Shenanigans

formed around 9 years ago and first competed at

convention in Canberra in 2012, later earning a

PB of 514 and 6th place. A performing quartet,

Shenanigans performed scores of gigs singing

classic and contemporary songs all over Canberra

and surrounds, including most national

institutions, Floriade, cafes and community

venues. We had regular Christmas bookings and

took road trips to Moruya, Newcastle and Wollongong to perform. We busked in streets and

markets, sang in Old Parliament House and the High Court, squashed into random spaces in cafes or

tents, watched our breath condense in freezing conditions in Braidwood, competed with "musak"

and audiences singing along, inhaled generator fumes at the National Folk Festival and barbecue

smoke at the Multicultural Festival, and took to various lovely stages with professional lighting and

sound. We loved every minute of it, creating so many fun memories and lifelong friendships while

making people smile. We retired Shenanigans last year after 8 busy years, officially winding up in

October after our annual weekend of gigs down the coast. We continue to be great friends and sing

together at Brindabella Chorus, so we didn't take much convincing to get together when asked to be

mic-testers! Amanda (Tenor), Christine (Lead), Jennifer (Bass) and Lynn (Baritone) have had a joyful

time rehearsing together again, and are looking forward to taking Shenanigans onto the Regional

stage for one last hoorah. #wearesweetadelines!
