    In the verses followin( v. 9, /esus e%lains the nature of this tribulation. At v. 1:, the word therefore, must

    be taken in connection with the tribulation of v. 9. And then at v. -1, the word for, must be taken as an

    Biscourse, the two are contem%oraneous. 4o, what is bein( shortenedL As Rosenthal himself noted in the

    above uotation, the word can also have the meanin( of cut short. !hat is the meanin( here. In otherwords, the %eriod of /ewish %ersecution and the %eriod of (reat tribulation for the /ews will be suddenl)

    cut short in the sense that it will not be allowed to continue even one da) be)ond its allotted time. God will

    allow the Antichrist to %ersecute /ews for eactl) 1,- da)s, and not one second be)ond that. ?nce the last

    second comes, it will be suddenl) cut short for the sake of /ewish survival.'
