BRIEF: To create an environment for individual members of the community to actively engage with each other to create a universal object/experience/output, leading to a sense of community and connection, incorporating a method of education about social issues for people to contemplate. Creating an opportunity for communication between people giving people an opportunity to be creative through adaptation.

In group there needs to be adaptation, so my output or method for communication is flexible.

The structure/method would dictate and moderate responsive behavioral output to an extent, as the experience is prescribing through predetermined modes and methods. However there will be an element of free response as the structure/method allows appropriation by participants. There will need to be an element of affirmation towards the behavior of ‘moving the structure’ via appropriation, to create momentum towards and through group participation. Affirmation can be achieved by positive recognition of familiar elements and a common language, possibly through colour or everyday objects. Introducing an element of ‘play’ or creating an example for people to learn from may be enough to initiate physical engagement. Individual engagement may be possible if an example or positive reinforcement is provided, however alone with no encouragement, individuals may be fearful to engage. I’d like to be a participant as well as observer at times.

& QDevelop a structure that allows space for socialization and interaction, whilst projecting imagery and sound relating to social issues.

Use the overall “structure” as a method

for communication of social issues, facilitate

communication and engagement, and allow people to be creative.

AIM: Educate. Communicate. Create sense of community through common creativity. Make people more aware of their social surroundings and local issues. METHOD: Control content of information released. Express imagery and sounds that amplify’s local issues to cause people to question and view issues from a different perspective. EXPECTATIONS: Initial perception may be ‘don’t touch’, as the structure may be viewed as public art, and may possibly be too ambiguous.
