ANWAR NAZARUDIN BIN MAULANA930917-01-75355 PISMP TESL 2REPORT ON THE CULTURE AND LEARNING EDUCATIONAL TRIP 2015Last 10th February 2014, 43 students from 5 PISMP TESL 1 and 5 PISMP TESL 2 went for a Culture and Learning Educational Trip around Johor Bahru. The places that we had visited were Johor Art Gallery, Muzium Tokoh Johor, Chinese Heritage Museum of Johor Bahru, Masjid India Johor Bahru, Raja Mariamman Temple and Johor Old Chinese Temple. The educational trip brought a lot of advantages to the students. It provided us with a meaningful experience in the term of multicultural heritage and history. There were a lot of advantages that we had gained. One of the advantages was, I was able to discover and learn more about Malay, Indian and Chinese cultures as well as their traditions. The places like Muzium Tokoh Johor, Chinese Heritage Museum and Raja Mariamman Temple brought us closer to the understanding of other cultures. During the trip, I met the people who live around that places and interviewed them. Thence, I am able to grab some extra information about that particular places and their background history. Other than that, this trip enable the students to know the history of Johor. There were a lot of information that I gained during the visit to Muzium Tokoh Johor. From the visit, I had seen and read a lot of beneficial information on the history of Johor. Unfortunately, there were some weaknesses with the trip. The major problem that I had identified was the time constraint. The trip was held from morning to afternoon. The original planned was to visit 7 places but since the time was up, we only managed to visit 6 places. We had to cancel the final visit to Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque which was expected to be very entertaining. However, we are lucky enough to visit all 6 places which were Johor Art Gallery, Muzium Tokoh Johor, Chinese Heritage Museum of Johor Bahru, Masjid India Johor Bahru, Raja Mariamman Temple and Johor Old Chinese Temple.Reflecting from all the events that took place during the educational trip, I was very pleased with the effort from all the committee members to make this trip possible. For the improvement, I suggest that in the future, the similar educational trip like this one are held for at least two days. This allow the students to visit more places without worrying on the time constraint. Other than that, the committee member might be able to plan some activities that are interesting during the visit. As a conclusion, I think that this educational trip was very beneficial. The precious experience during the visit to the multicultural places around Johor Bahru matured us as a future teacher and help us to see other culture from a different views and perspectives.
