From the book of Isaiah Donna Myra/Leader

God has a plan for us...Let’s explore it together!!!

“Men Of Faith From The Old Testament”

We have had a very exciting summer in Children's Church! We have experienced the challenges of faith of Jonah as he struggled to follow God's will. We have felt the anxiety of Daniel as he depended on God's strength to save him from the lion's den. We have tried ourselves to "knock down" Goliath as David so faithfully did! Don't miss our next adventures! We will soon learn of the many missions of Moses and ride the rocky Ark with Noah! All of these men of the Old Testament have taught us resilient strength on how they obeyed and were faithful to God despite the hardships they faced!

Pastor’s Desk

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

He stood at the train station, pocket watch in hand, and his eyes intently staring down the tracks. The train was coming and would soon pull into the station, which was nestled along a dirt road, just a small distance from a new Methodist Church that had been made three years ago, and a school house. The two rails of the track went off in the distance, seemly almost coming together in a point before disappearing into the

wood line. As he waited for the train to arrive, his mind drifted for an eternal minute to all that went into making the rail line. He, his father, and so many others had worked so hard carving the path, building the bed, and laying the rails for this extension so that rail service could be provided to the village of Reeders. So many obstacles were removed and they overcame problem, after problem, after problem. Now it was like a seamless service, the work and effort to make it possible, long since forgotten. The loud commotion of the train pulling into the station, and engulfing the area with smoke and ash, brought him back to the reality before him. Ice cars filled with fresh ice from the Mountain Spring Lake Ice Factory bound for resorts and hotels throughout the route. Other box cars needing to be offload with all manner of supplies for the Inns, factories, and stores. Then there were the few passenger cars, mainly with tourists but some locals returning from some trip away. He thought to himself about the power and the strength of the train and how that modern marvel of a train could accomplish so much. In the flutter of a breath, the tracks are not there, the station is gone, and those who worked the rail line are long since deceased. Their ancestors recall the time and historical associations preserve what is just a memory. The power of humankind moves along rising, falling and being replaced by some other marvel of technology. It too will fade in its time. No matter how much is accomplished and achieved, it is never enough. Then in the dense woods of our never-ending striving, a different train has come, and is now coming, and will be coming in the future. A voice calling in the wilderness, “Prepare the way. Make straight the path.” So the Train comes and nothing can block it. The train has unlimited power and the ability to carry the load and burden of all those who willingly come on board. No tickets or fare is required, because the Master of train has already paid for everyone. You only have to be willing to get on board and have faith in the Master’s promise that the Train’s eternal destination. The train is coming. VBS calls it the Rocky Railway, but it is not just for children, it is for all of us. Thanks be to God.
