Here's why you should get involved:

Saving natural resources: Keusing discarded products and using recycled materials to make - new products reduces the use of virgin materials, which olkn involves harvesting trees and

Preventing environmental proble~iw that cun~e f ron~ lundiilb: Few pw$ want a landlll in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, we will need landfills as long as we choose to dispose of waste. Although landfills today are much safer than 20 years ago, they are still a poor use of land and a potential source of groundwater contan~ination and releases of methane and other gases.

Saving energy: E ~ ~ o n ~ ~ o u s anloullts of energy are required to make products and ~naterials - worldwide. Energy is saved by not using products and nlalerials when at all possible, or by reusing products in their current fonn. ~l'remendous energy savings come fro111 using recycled instead of virgin n~aterials in manufacturing.
