CULTURAL EVENTS CALENDARFall 2013

Adults - 18 years old and over

Saint-LazARTS — Steve Hill Steve Hill made his stage debut at the age of 16. Fifteen years after the release of his first album, Steve Hill does more than merely revisit the blues. He mixes in all his influences – rock & roll, folk and country – and creates timeless music. This album proves once and for all that Steve Hill is not only a great guitar player but also a powerful singer and an excellent composer-songwriter. No reServATioN required

Adults - 18 years old and over

Saint-LazARTS — Jim Zeller Jim Zeller is an odd, eccentric character. The enfant terrible of blues has been living a great adventure ever since he decided to play the harmonica when he was just a teenager. Exciting, spontaneous and generous on stage, he fascinates and dazzles his audience. He owes his incredible command of his instrument to his unconditional love for the blues. No reServATioN required

For the whole family

Saint-LazARTS — Dixie BandBoth ageless and limitless, the electrifying sound of the Dixie Band recalls the festive atmosphere that reigned at the beginning of the 20th century when the New Orleans and Dixieland styles emerged. An ener-getic little old lady going by the name of Miss dreams of the roaring twenties, when she was young and carefree. Through her songs and dances, she relives, along with her audience, this exuberant musical period and brings back to life legendary blues and scat singers and Shimmy and Charleston dancers. A rhythmic and magical show which is in turn educational, wild and nostalgic and which the whole family will enjoy! No reServATioN required

Calling all Saint-Lazare artists and photographers The Saint-Lazare CULTURAL COMMITTEE is launching a competition and exhibit for all Saint-Lazare visual art and fine craft artists. Saint-LazARTS — Yadong GuanThe Chinese pipa, the guitar and the cello come together in a concert where East meets West. A performance by Fréquence pékinoise never fails to amaze. A true musical ambassador, Yadong Guan is a master of the pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument whose history goes back more than 2,000 years. Those who have heard her play have all been captivated by her deep artistic sensitivity as well as by the sounds of her instrument. A most exotic musical experience. No reServATioN required

LAUGHTER YOGA’S CLUB

The club of the Laughter Yoga has been a great success, and we are happy to announce the club will reopen

on September 11th 2013.

DESCRIPTIONThe Laughter Yoga is a unique concept which consists of laughing for no particular reason, without jokes or humour. It was based on scientific research which demonstrates that our body will not see any difference between a simulated laugh and a natural one, be-cause it releases the same energy. We get the same benefits, phy-sically and psychologically. The laughter Yoga consists of exercises and yoga breathing techniques. The sessions last for 45 minutes and are based upon the techniques and principles established by Dr Kataria, who is the founder of the international movement of the Laughter Yoga. Open to all adults who want to find their inner child again! The beauty of the club lies in its members who gather every week to laugh together and promote good health, joy and universal peace!

On the first Wednesday of every month, children between the age of 8 to 14 years old who are accompanied by their parents will be welcomed to share with us those magical

moments. There will be no admission fee for children.

Schedule and location: Wednesdays 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.At 2503 Côte St Charles, Saint-LazareAt the basement of the small church (Enter through main door)

Needed for session:Exercise mat or blanket and a bottle of water

The sessions are in French. However, you do not need to speak French to attend.

Contribution: $5 per person.

St-Lazare is known as the horse paradise by the concentration of several hundred of farmhouse that have access to the best network of equestrian trails near Montreal. The preservation of the equestrian community is closely related to the proximi-ty of a quality trail network made possible through the close collaboration of the City of Saint-Lazare, landowners who pro-vide access to their land and a team of dedicated volunteers. All these players deserve our admiration, because without them, these trails would not exist.

The primary mandate of the club is to maintain and develop trails: Club volunteers perform several tasks such as the main-tenance and signage of trails, , patrolling to ensure the safety of users, organizing equestrian activities, signing agreements and rights of way as well as the production of a trail map. The Club is also working with the municipality to protect network access to farmhouse in residential areas. It is therefore essential for the preservation of the equestrian heritage of Saint-Lazare that all trail users comply with regulations and signage.

By becoming a member of our club, you participate in the maintenance and development of a quality trail network.

Membership 2013: Individual $70; Family $130

Happy trails!
